    Hello!

I have the same problem. The game crashes at the start (when you prompt to press a key as the picture of the 4 drivers is shown). It crashes even if I ran the game with dx12 or dx11 settings. I've attached the bug report, the DxDiag report and a screenshot of the crash.

    Can anybody help?

    DxDiag.txt

    bug_report.txt

    Post motherboard model. (ASUS ?)

    Verify Steam files.

    Delete the hardware_settings_config.xml

Pick a default sound device in Windows (and remove the webcam for testing).

So you are saying that I should start by changing my motherboard just to play F1?

    I don't think so.

Whatever the problem may be, the game should work with my setup, as it works with other games.

When I reffered to the "flawed code", I ment that there is obviosly something wrong with the code between my wheel and this game.

I get that this is nearly impossible to solve via forum discussion, and at this point, changing the usb hardware may be the easiest way to solve this. But please hear me out. Only variable changing between for example dirt rally and F1, is only the game. Therefore the issue lies on the changing variable and in this case, it is the F1 game, not the wheel or the usb connection.

False. Your Windows configuration changes dynamically.

The individual configuration, the order of installation.

I would always advocate updating whatever hardware you have then performing a controlled installation of Windows with known working drivers and only the game and it's dependencies / prerequisites.

    Troubleshooting 101.

You could introduce any variable in software or configuration that causes an issue and it does not mean it's the game that is required to change.

Kind of noob here but where can I find this file?

Also, I was able to have the game run normally, I disconnected the 2nd display and restarted the game and it was fine. As soon as I plug the 2nd display the poor in game quality appear. Any idea or anything i can do to help identify the issue?

    C:\Users\[USERNAME]\Documents\My Games\F1 2020\hardware

Which of your displays do you regard as the secondary and why?

I can see one is DP the other HDMI but both are 1920x1080. Are you using any kind of converter to change the output / input to either of the screens?

    F51 (contains AGESA 1.0.0.6)

Can you just try the 'Medium' Graphics preset?

Set the refresh to 75Hz and just use the one connected display you can try 'High' preset. You have two displays connected one at 60Hz (KS271) the other at 75Hz (KG271).

For testing, remove the Astro headset. Once you get the game working, adding things one at a time will prove the culprit.

  5. Think this was the actual (option/prime) selection for the weekends;

    Austria   S/H
    Styria     S/M
    Hungary  S/M
    Britain    M/H
    70th       S/H
    Spain      S/H
    Belgium  S/M
    Italy       S/M
    Tuscany  S/H
    Russia    SS/M
    Bahrain   M/H
    Sakhir     S/H

Thanks for the suggestion @steviejay69. The Wacom tablet was never connected but I uninstalled the drivers for it. Unplugging the headset dongle seems to have solved the issue. However, I do need to use the headphones with the dongle as my laptop only has 1 audio input, is there any way I could solve the issue and still use the dongle?

Use GHub to try update the headset firmware (the dongle - it might already have been, think my G430 had a 'weak mic' update). That's all I can suggest but I'm tagging @LogiUK as I sold my Logitechs and bought Kingston HyperCloud Xs because of the silly dongle. And @BarryBL to see if the devs can sort this. It's probably Windows audio that's the issue but if at least these headsets are part of the dev kit it would stop a lot of forum issues.

And improve customer perception of the game and Logitech compatibility.

I don't really know what to say either and I don't want to point fingers just yet, as it seems to be a more fundamental issue than an individual.
We should all be racing on the same terms, and if we kick or punish someone now, next time someone new joins and the same **** happens all over again.

Everybody who joins this "League" should be very well aware of the fact that we basically just race for fun, there is no money whatsoever in it.
Respect is everything, and when people, especially regulars, leave or are about to leave then something is clearly wrong.

At the very least, let's keep talking on how we can improve the situation, and I'll start by tagging @steviejay69.
Please come back mate, I'm sure we can figure something out.

If I'm around tomorrow, which COVID makes it look very much like I will be, I will join just to have a go in the 2020 F2s to see if they're just like the 2019 F2 cars. I think the wheels are different, that's it? Or were the 2019 cars Monza spec?

Thanks for your reply. I hear you about hardware, and hardware checks out no issue. The thing is, this is the only title that I am having issues with. I run other titles, such as F1 2019, AC, ACC, rFactor2, Division 2 and others and I have no issue with these, they run just fine, even on higher settings than F1 2020. I feel I do agree that if this was an f1 2020 issue the forum would be lit with reports and so this is why I am so lost. I guess the last thing to try to to rebuild Windows 10. Thanks again.

Sadly, yes. I am faced with the unenviable prospect of doing so on my work laptop which is really not all that convenient, but...disaster recovery is testable.

  9. I guess it is by design as there's nothing in the F2 regs to stop teams fitting their entire tyre allocation for the remainder of the weekend (allocation is tight) to a car during a feature race.

But also the game should realise the car can't be entered without tyres and thereby the sprint race should be skippable (with a DNS result).

  10. Laptops and desktops use different USB power management. Unless the laptop is plugged in and set to maximum performance, it will not perform like the equivalent desktop. Thermal throttling is also a major problem on particularly non-gaming laptops.

Many newer laptops also come with USB C or USB 3.2 spec. The wheels prefer USB 2.0, it is electronically different and logically different. USB 3.0 is compatible with older devices, but it is not true compatibility. Hubs and adapters are a no-no.

For troubleshooting on desktops, I recommend the use of a USB 2.0 port (all the wheels I have ever owned work at USB 1.1 speeds anyway).

I have owned Logitech, Thrustmaster and now Fanatec wheels.

The newer versatility of USB-C may just cause as many issues as the versatility it adds.
