Just realised I forgot to choose a Lifetime Achievement award winner: I nominate @Lukedfrt

'Worst Comeback Award'
-
No, @JensonBottom used to be AquaF1, also called Tom I think. The Big A is definitely gone.

Best community manager, what?!?! :D Anyway, my nominations, and it's a shame we don't have a full year of stuff to review when making these nominations due to the forum situation, but here we go... Best Thread: The Stuff Thread, it's there every year and still going strong Best Young Member: f1since08, he's doing a super job running the predictor game this year too, better than I did :p Best Old Member: Well, to be classed as old here you're still actually very young, so I'd probably say RevolvingPrawn Funniest Thread: The .gif Thread Funniest Member: onetwothree Plonker Award: AMS, sorry but some of your motorsport related posts really make me laugh, a lot Best New Member: sjsharp2010, he may have been here longer but he seems new to me Love Guru 101: Rohan, he's finally pulled the bird Troll Fighter: Platy Most Missed Member: The Big A, he's been gone a couple of years now but he was great on the vBulletin forums. He was about the same age as me too which was cool and he went to a similar school as I do, so we were quite similar, and he posted so well for his age. Also a shout out to AL0NS0FAN even though he can act like a douche on Twitter Worst Thread: Wanna Play Thread http://forums.codemasters.com/discussion/481/wanna-play-thread#latest Epic Thread Revival: The Weather Thread, it dies 10 times every year but still remains on the first page of the forum Best Community Manager: justbiglee, when there was a problem getting my competition prize bundle to me he was so cool with it, awesome, and he does so much work on the forum, interacting loads with the DiRT guys Worst Comeback: Probably AMS or GoldenColt as they're usually embroiled in some heated F1 debate battle, there's normally a cringy post somewhere Best Post: onetwothree's birthday wish to f1since08 http://forums.codemasters.com/discussion/comment/47052#Comment_47052 Most Changed Member: Mike96, he's become really funny! OT Member of the Year: RevolvingPrawn

I like the current system to be honest. You get given more for winning a grand prix which I think is a good thing, and you get points down to 10th place.
-
@RevolvingPrawn How is your Hauppauge PVR? I haven't used mine in a while but I find the software it comes with can be a bit buggy, like sometimes it would crash and I have to re-start the laptop. Also, it takes so long to load too. Have you found that? Apart from that, I do really like it and the recording quality is just right for me,
-
I'm gonna get to play this game at EGX on Sunday, I can't wait. I'm not sure exactly how much the game will be on offer to play, but I will try and get a mate to record me playing it perhaps. Hopefully there won't be massive queues so I can play it for the whole duration, haha :p

There's 258 points still available and they're 174 ahead of Red Bull. So unless Red Bull have a complete disaster, I'd say it is very unlikely that Mercedes will wrap up the WCC in Suzuka. It's only a matter of time after that though, obviously. Aaah, yes, forgot about the double points in Abu Dhabi :/ Stupid rule

Bianchi to Ferrari, please

Oh my god, Andrew Benson is the worst F1 writer I've ever seen. So this article on BBC F1 that he wrote is called 'Magnussen treated for heat injuries'. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula1/29303579 Well Magnussen actually tweeted that the reports that he had had burns and had medical treatment "were a bit exaggerated - I was just hot and sweaty". So you'd expect Benson to maybe delete the article after this as the story is false. But hang, on HE REFERS TO THE TWEET IN THE BLEEDING ARTICLE. So still the headline is that he was treated for heat injuries, even though he fully knows that he didn't. I'm not one for sending complaining Emails but seriously, this is stupid. BBC please sack him.

I've just done some basic statistics workings out and here's what I've found. - Mercedes should probably wrap up the constructors' title next time out at Suzuka - Only Red Bull can take that constructors' title away from Mercedes - Hamilton, Rosberg, Ricciardo, Alonso, Vettel and Bottas are the only drivers who can mathematically still win the title - Marcus Ericsson could win the next five races and finish 4th in the drivers' championship - Caterham could acheive 1-2's at the next five races and finish 3rd in the constructors' championship
-
I thought so too during the race, it just occured to me afterwards. Gotta admit I was cursing at my TV screen when they didn't want to pit him despite his pleas. Yeah, I was doing the same, haha. I was with my Dad just going 'oh my god, just pit him!!'
-
I think you're overlooking something regarding HAM winning the race anyway, 27 second gap or not: What if there was another SC, which then lasted until the very end of the race? Or what if the SC came in again, with only 2 laps to go with DRS being activated 3 laps after a SC comes in again? I agree, Lewis chances were very good with or without a 27second-lead, but there were a few possibilites left which could have ruined his race, so staying ahead would have been the best thing anyway. That is a really good point actually about the SC, but in the heat of the moment I was just thinking 'pit him now so he has the fresh rubber and then he can get past them.'

Finally Hamilton and Rosberg are back on a level playing field. A shame Rosberg wasn't there to contribute to a fight, but I'm very happy with the result today. Good job by Vettel to get second but I'm honestly surprised he didn't finish further up ahead of Ricciardo considering Dan was carrying some problems today. Alonso, solid but shame he didn't get a podium. Really good job by Vergne today. He was very quick in practice as well, so a very well deserved 6th place ahead of some superior cars. And he finished well ahead of Kvyat too. What a time for Vergne to get a result like that in too, without a drive currently. If I were a team principal looking around, I'd want him in my car I think. Shame for Bottas with the tyres at the end. I've never seen a car squirm around like that ever! Ericsson was a bit of a joke in places today. When he was going into that corner after the long bridge straight, he just let Kvyat and Perez through, even though he was actually racing them for position! The safety car procedure needs a re-think too. We had about three laps if I remember correctly where the track was clear, but we had to wait for the backmarkers to come through. Why can they not just fall to the back of the grid and remain a lap behind? Then they'll be out of the way of the leaders. they stay a lap behind (where they should be), and we don't waste time behind the safety car. If they did that then the race would have run the full 61 lap distance. ___________________________________________________ Eddie Jordan on the podium, again. Yeah he's enthusiastic but he was on the podium just two races ago in Belgium. Of all the people in the F1 paddock surely they could have got someone else. Sir Stirling would have been great, wouldn't he. As Platy was saying, Sky didn't half dramatise the whole Hamilton pit gap situation today. When they were saying he had to have a 27 second gap to get in the lead. NO HE DIDN'T! It was flippin' obvious he was gonna get them anyway as he would have been on 20 lap newer tyres or something, and in the beast that is the Mercedes. I think Sky's coverage is fantastic, but so often I find myself correcting the commentary, or adding obvious comments. I wish I could get in the commentary box!

Unbelievably close finish!

Finally, F1 is moving to the modern times with Twitter. Finally they're doing something useful with it. Retweets, world feed images, stats, infographics. Just really hope they get a YouTube channel soon where they can upload some race highlights. They do some on the Formula 1 App which are good, so why not just upload them to a YouTube channel?

Something like this I expect. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_uWXUnvOHw

The F1 2014 Grand Prix Predictor Forum Game
MBKF1 replied to f1since08's topic in World of Motorsport
Use my predictions from the last race please. Trying out some new tactits for this round. -
It's gonna be very close. If they did 1:50's every lap for the entire race then that would be about 1 hour 50 minutes I believe. Then you have a couple of pit stops which should add another 45 seconds? Plus it's very likely there'll be a safety car, so it should be right on the limit.
-
Well I guess I should say yes considering I've just been followed by this fella on Twitter...
-
The first one is slow motion, but the on board is normal speed.
-
I don't think the changes will disadvantage any driver over an other. Before this season a lot of people were thinking that Lewis wouldn't be great at the fuel conservation, but he's actually been one of the best in the field. I don't think it will make a big difference to one driver.
