2014 GRAN PREIMO D'SHUTUP (AKA THE THREAD WHERE THE CM FORUMS DIED)
MBKF1 replied to Mexicola's topic in World of Motorsport
Predictions for the weekend - Someone will go off at Parabolica and will return to the track with no issues, meaning I will be upset - A Mercedes powered car will be on pole - Bottas podium - Arguments about how bad Vettel is, and Rosberg v Hamilton, involving the usual suspects -
For me, F1 2010 was the best game in the series, it was just great, and I found myself spending hours on it doing many seasons of career mode, various sprint races online, single player races. It had those great ‘Live the Life’ menus which made you feel like the driver. You had your agent, you saw the press waiting to get that quick interview done with you, you had the press conferences, you had your motorhome that you sat in. I really hope that F1 2014 returns to the paddock ‘Live the Life’ menus, firstly because it immerses you in the game, and also because so many people seem to have expressed their wish for it to return. I think it may be my favourite because there was a lot of hype surrounding the game as it was the first one since 2007, and it was the first official F1 game on Xbox 360 and PC in a very long while. The game seemed so well publicised, the build up to the game was really long which was great! They started talking about it like half a year before, or maybe even longer before. They released something like seven developer diaries with endless gameplay, showing the customer exactly what was happening from the eyes of the developers. They had so many videos from Gamescom that year of nearly every circuit and car in action. I don't remember any other game having that same level of great treatment since, and this year for F1 2014, they only officially announced the game at the start of August, giving it a two and a half month build up. There are no plans for developer diaries, they weren't at Gamescom, but instead they have some hotlap videos and screenshots! F1 2010 may have had a lot of bugs and flaws, but I loved it more than any other and I honestly think that the level of immersion is what made F1 2010 so great for me, it’s why I played it day after day. Those awesome paddock menus are gone in the latest games and therefore the press conferences and interviews are gone so it doesn’t feel like I’m personally taking part in the races any more. I’ve just taken over someone else’s car.

Justbiglee can you please clarify if wall riding aloud or not in the intel challenge?
MBKF1 replied to Leedsryanunited's topic in General Discussion
I might be wrong on this, but I am pretty sure I saw justbiglee say that wall riding is allowed, but he is pretty sure that doing that will result in a slower time. But I may be wrong, so don't go with that completely. He also said that they'll check the data for all the top lap times to make sure no one cheated, so it will be fair. -
I guess when the forum gets out of Beta?, i asked the question why haven't any of the dedicated badges been awarded since the start of the forum and the mods said that they only award them for your helpfulness in the forums. So i guess those groups of people who got the dedicated badges when the forum opened were all helpful at the same time lol Maybe when the forum isn't beat, but awarded for being helpful, I don't agree completely. Looking at those on the 'Dedicated to DiRT' list, they deserve to be there as they are on the DiRT forums all the time, looking at gossip, discussing the game, adding ideas, etc. Meanwhile look at the 'Dedicated to F1' list, and you have Tiametmarduk. Yes he has done very well on. YouTube, but he's only posted 5 times, and not since the 6th April, just 4 days after these forums opened. Same story with that aarava guy. There's a lot of people who stick around on the F1 Game forums, yes a lot of them are unhelpful and whine, but there are some who are very helpful yet haven't been rewarded yet.

You know the forum badges, well there are three which are 'Dedicated to F1', 'Dedicated to GRID' and 'Dedicated to DiRT'. Any chance you could add a 'Dedicated to Off-Topic' badge too?! :p Nah, but on a serious note, I think the badges are cool and I've just looked back when the forum first started and Loore said: 'As for badges, we've got a lot more planned. The idea was we wouldn't go overboard right at the start but gradually add them over time. Badges aren't all automatic either, we do have the ability to grant people badges based on their behaviour (good or bad...) so you won't be able to abuse the system.' I haven't seen any new badges added since the start, so I was wondering whether these will be added at some point?

Trial play society for media carried out in Japan
MBKF1 replied to XPERIA158's topic in General Discussion
Amazing thanks for sharing! Finally we get to see some gameplay with the HUD. That's pretty important for me. I hope that instead of just hotlap videos we get something similar to what GRID did, something like "Lewis Hamilton vs Suzuka". A short 3 lap race with the HUD, no fancy replay cameras, just a simple video so we can see the HUD, what the engineer says, how the engine sounds, handling etc. That would be much better than more hot laps in my opinion. -
That is a very sexy mouse if I may say. If I could design a mouse it would probably look something like that

No, he did buy tickets! He was winding me up... Well I still can't wait to play those games hehe :p

Doesn't look like there'll be a massive shake up for 2015 as it really all happened this year. McLaren, I honestly think Button's time will be over at the end of this year and I reckon they'll bring in Vandoorne to partner Magnussen.
-
I'm going there so I can't wait to play those games! Shame that Codemasters aren't going cos it would have been awesome to maybe meet Lee, Luke and Ben. EDIT: Just found out that my mate didn't buy the tickets, and Saturday and Sunday are sold out. Poop

That kid lives down my road! Is the series about a short and fat American kid?
-
Sounds like you had an awesome time. My best mate went to Spa in 2012 for the Grand Prix and again, he loved it. Now I wanna go :p
-
I believe this has been the case for all the games, but Codemasters take the car design from the first race of the season, so at Australia, that was how the camera mounts were. Changing it takes a lot of work too, which is really unnecessary for this I think.

Nelly Furtado satisfied with F1 2014 announcement.
MBKF1 replied to NellyFurtado's topic in General Discussion
In similar news, PeteTheDuck was also very pleased at the F1 2014 announcement. He had the following statement: "I am excited about the new F1 2014 game and I am very much looking forward to playing it. There are a couple of new features which look good, such as the updated scenarios and driver evaluation system." -

Yeah, they are. I've been watching World RallyCross this year and it's epic. They all have one joker lap, and it's great because you can use it when you want, and it can really alter your race. If you lead from the front then it's best to save it as you can use the clean air, but if you're in the pack then it may be best to use it immediatey to get that cleaner air. I really hope this is in DiRT 4

I wrote a blog post not long ago about my feelings on the direction of F1 games, and how I think there is a wrong direction being taken. I mentioned about how Codemasters MUST return to the awesome Live the Life menus. Games are all about player interaction, so please read my blog about this all here... http://thebirkettblog.wordpress.com/

I've been waching a US TV show, Revenge. It's very good and I love it, but heck it's so complicated to follow. I missed Season 1 so I've had to try and follow what's happening. There's about 5 different story lines all happenin, it's relentless.

Hamilton drove like a tit in 2011, but since 2012 he's really driven brilliantly. I can't remember any incidents in 2012 where Hamilton was at fault, 2013, probably that one incident in Brazil, and this year, that tiny mistake at Hockenhem.
-
Watching on foreign TV I had to make all my own judgements today, and immediately I thought that Lewis gave Rosberg space, and Rosberg was at fault, just. Spanish TV love their Alonso though haha, they cut from the podium interview with Ricciardo to an interview with Alonso :p So a great win for Ricciardo, what a guy this man is, over 50 seconds ahead of Vettel, stunning. I hope he gets all the rest of the wins this season haha And Hamilton says that Rosberg deliberately hit him. Wow. That's unbelievable, the biggest story I've seen in F1 for a long time. What can Mercedes do to punish Rosberg though? Ricciardo is ONLY 36 points or something behind Hamilton now, he could be a massive threat if Ricciarso keeps winning too at Abu Dhabi. I'm gonna run out of popcorn

It takes 3 seconds to load your set up from when you select load so whats the problem that's if you have a set up saved ofcourse ... Fuel strategy, tyre strategy. The other day I took a good minute and a half working out my tyre strategy before I said I was ready. well for me its simple tyre's to start race are prime fuel is normal and then load set up so about 10 - 15 seconds job done ... I was debating whether to go for a 2 or 3 stop, and that's why it took longer. I went for a three in the end as I knew I wouldn't be able to make the tyres last, so I had to spend time changing the tyres, selecting compounds, what lap I wanted them. It took time.

I didn't know this, but apparently Eau Rouge is the left hand kink just before the long right hand climb of Radillion. I always thought Radillion was the left hand kink at the top of the hill So Eau Rouge isn't that amazin climb we thought it was, it's actually Radillion!
