wowow . -
I don't usually think this, but I genuinely can't decide whether I like it or not. I can look at it and think 'yeah that's really cool with the matte finish', and then another time I think 'I don't like the logos without the white outlines'.
I just miss the Camobull from last year. They really should stick with that but give it some colour. -
Ah sounds like a right clot. And yes, drunk me can find it absolutely exhilarating going at those sort of speeds but in reality it is so stupid.RevolvingPrawn said:
The thing that annoyed me most was he didn't get to his destination any quicker, I had to sit behind him giving him evils while he was waiting for a gap in the oncoming traffic to turn into the car park lol. He's not the biggest idiot I've experienced on the road, but he's definitely the worst father!MBKF1 said:Yeah it is actually pretty handy having one for now, I'm not tempted at all to break any limits or anything, just because I know it'll raise up the price.
But yeah, bloody annoying, and that infuriates me with kids in the back. It's better to get somewhere a couple of minutes later and in one piece than to not get there at all and with potential injuries.
Fortunately, all my best mates drive very sensibly and I feel very relaxed when they're driving me about (although I do prefer it when I drive, just because I trust my own ability :p), but the worst is one of their Dad's. I am seriously bricking it when I'm in a car with him. It's weird, because he drives quite slowly around corners, but if there's a long straight bit then you know he's gonna be moving along at quite a rate.
When I go to the pub with my mates he sometimes picks us up, and on the way is this 50mph straight road (where might I add, many people have been killed in the past), but he usually reaches about 80mph. It's bloody terrifying, and my mate will usually say to him 'oh come on Dad, you don't need to do this'.
I specifically try and sit in the seat behind him, so I can't see the speedo. When I can see it my eyes are glued to it, but I'd rather just sit there and deal with it :p
Hah! You're lucky then dude, my best mate drives a Ford Ka that would be more at home in a scrapyard than on the road. The trouble is that because he doesn't really care about the car he absolutely rags it, and sitting in his passenger seat can often be a not so fun experience!
Haha, I know how you feel on that one dude, one of my old mates was a boy racer type with a Ford Escort, he picked me up from a night club a few years ago and on that same stretch of road I mentioned yesterday, the 60mph road, he got up to 120 lol. I was drunk so to me it was hilarious, but yea, I look back now and think it was pretty damn stupid lol.
I'm just pleased I've got through my first year of driving without having any incidents or speeding fines, etc. I know the stats say it's very likely for a driver to have some sort of incident in their first year but touch wood, I haven't had one yet.
The thing to worry about is other people, it's best to treat everyone like an absolute idiot, because you have no idea what stupid thing they could do. -

Tbh, most of the time I'm either listening to the radio or the GotG soundtrack. All those goofy features and I don't really use em :p
I've had a look at those deals before with the black boxes, I actually found normal insurance that would have been cheaper for me without the black box :p Really though, it's kinda good I guess because it'll keep you from the bad habits you can get into lol. Putting your foot down now and then can be fun, but on normal roads you really don't need to anyway. Only time I've found it's useful is going up steep parts of motorway :p
Haha yep, been in that situation a bunch of times. Last time it happened I was doing 60 on a road where the limit really shouldn't be 60, when some douche comes flying up behind me, doesn't bother to slow down just goes straight for the overtake, doesn't seem to care that there's a blind corner right up ahead, and goes right past doing probably close to 90. I slowed down as soon as he was on the wrong side, no way I wanna get involved in any potential wreck an idiot like that causes! I end up right on his bumper about 8 miles later when he's pulling into a car park haha. The thing that made me furious with him was seeing a baby strapped in the back of his car. I feel sorry for his kid if their dad is willing to take such magnificently stupid risks with his childs life.
But yeah, bloody annoying, and that infuriates me with kids in the back. It's better to get somewhere a couple of minutes later and in one piece than to not get there at all and with potential injuries.

Sounds really good, I hadn't really looked into it but it sounds pretty sweet. I can plug my phone into my car, but honestly I just listen to the radio when I'm driving so only use it to charge it up.
Yes I have! Only thing is I have a black box on my car for the insurance, so it monitors my speed / acceleration / braking, so if I drive smoother it's cheaper. It's a bit annoying when I want to put my foot down a bit, like in those situations, but I don't mind as it's cheaper aha.
Doesn't happen often, but the thing that pisses me off the most is when I'm doing the limit and some douche just motors past. This happened the other day, doing 30mph, but I ended up getting back ahead of him in the end, because firstly he didn't manage to beat the first set of traffic lights, so I was right up with him again. Then the road split into two lanes, I chose the right, got ahead of him as he was stuck in some slow traffic on the left, and then it went down to one lane again, so ended up about 3 cars ahead of him lol
Wally.

Ah nice, well I have to agree, it's such a nice car, just works lol :p I haven't got the iDrive on mine but it looks awesome.
My great uncle is the worst driver I know, he drives a Jaguar and he literally leaves a couple of metres between him and the car in front on motorways. It is genuinely quite frightening, all it takes is a sudden slam of the brakes and he's in the back of him.
Something else I've noticed, particularly with elderly drivers, is that they seem to brake very late and quite hard. A lot of younger drivers gradually slow down and do it smoothly, but my grandparents all seem to brake late and hard. The reason for this, I think, is because brakes back in their day were far less powerful than they are today, so they think they can brake late and hard.
On the whole, I think a lot of people underestimate just how powerful brakes on modern cars are. If you slam them on, you can stop in metres, Official stopping distances seem massive in comparison to what they can actually do. -
Prawn, you drive a Mini too? I had no idea!
My dad has an Audi but I can genuinely say he doesn't fit the stereotype, he's probably the best driver I know. However, other Audi's, completely agree, they're right up my back bumper. -
The Sky one pisses me off, like a lot of their coverage! The actual song itself is quite nice, and if you watch the BBC's 2010 review montage, it fits the footage really well.
Sky have butchered it, and they've made their whole intro video typical of a Crofty / Kravitz race commentary, so basically bigging up nothing so it might be something. By this I mean, adding the silly violins for some dramatic effect, plus the Hamilton / Rosberg collision with the rubbish team radio insert.
Then the bit where Ted says 'how much do we know what's in his head', it just ruins the intro. I think Ted is great, but you don't need that in an intro, nor the talking bits with Jenson at the Sky Pad for example.
The BBC one is great, it's just the Chain and a load of old bad-ass moments from the history of F1. -
Good choice! The Chain is basically motorsport's theme tune anyway, it makes sense for them to use it. -
I say aim low to avoid disappointment, I'm expecting Mercedes to have found another 150bhp and everyone else to have not gained anything near as much, and it'll be complete and utter Mercedes domination, as in, they come first and second in every session, and lead every lap of every race.
Then fingers crossed I won't be disappointed when Ferrari come and challenge them! -
I was thinking that too, he seems to be no match for Buemi at all. Buemi was absolutely fantastic in the race, all his overtakes were clean as you like, textbook stuff as Dario likes to say.
And again, generally, yet another superb Formula E race! I've said it before, but if this sort of racing happened in Formula 1 then it would be fantastic. Every Formula E race has been ridiculously entertaining, -
No surprise there, but good for him, fingers crossed he'll have a good season and move up the grid next year. -
Yeah I don't think the halo idea would be the best solution, I think if they are going to do head protection then going totally undercover would be the best, with some kind of quick release system in case of a roll over. Obviously I have no idea how easy that would be but, the halo idea just wouldn't work in most cases, such as debris. -
Thank you! Yeah the main one I can think of was the JPS Lotus, they won with Fittipaldi in 1972 and Andretti in 1978 (I think), and obviously had some wins with Senna too.coolieboy said:Looks much better. Nice job MBKF1. I don't suppose you have the time to replace the black with the Infiniti blue color? ;) On a side note, has there ever been a successful team with a black color scheme in Formula 1? The only one I can think of was the black John Players Special car that senna drove. I think it was a Lotus.
Ha, it's funny but I really didn't do much, I literally added a couple of yellow stripes, but I think it works well.Wynterdust said:You should probably replace whoevers in charge of designing their liveries. That's a big improvement. Send Mclaren some inspiration too while you're at it!
As for other cars with the black colour scheme.. I can't remember many but there was the 04/05 Minardi, the 98 Arrows, the old Sauber's and the Shadow team and of course the legendary 15 Mclaren. A group of cars that shook the F1 heavens. -
That concept Prawn posted is probably the most elegant one I've seen of all of them so far, it still looks badass like F1 should be, and seems like a good solution anyway.
In other news, I made an edit yesterday of the new Renault livery. I've simply added some yellow paint and re-positioned a couple of sponsors, but I think it's an improvement quite honestly.
-
It was so completely unexpected, that's what made it so cool I think. It's a shame they didn't keep that effect but added in the colours where the black would have been. -
I think it's alright, obviously could do with a bit more yellow but I'm sure they'll rectify that come Melbourne.
However, I'm not actually a fan of the matte black at the rear. It doesn't fit with the glossy black right next to it.
I've always liked black cars though, looks pretty bad-ass to me. -
An interesting fact I read earlier, apparently in his 5 seasons of Formula 1, he only finished in the points 14 times. -
According to Autosport, the deal is done for Magnussen to go to Renault. Just waiting for official confirmation.
However, I'm happy to believe that anyway as Autosport is always a very reliable source. They wouldn't say that for the sake of it.

Yes, Jaegarbombs will always go down a treat too lol.jordieDAFC said:Clubs it's gotta be JD coke, vodka coke, midoori lemonade and Jaegerbombs........and whatever shots appear ahaha
Mind some girl bought me an abc shot...... That was a wild night....
On New Years Eve someone brought along some Polish 95% vodka. All I can say is it nearly ripped my head off. -
That Mark Webber milk advert was filmed pretty close to me, at Rogue Racing, it's a fantastic little circuit, I've been there a few times now. -

Good man! Rum and coke is my go-to drink :)MBKF1 said:I do like a nice beer, but I honestly would prefer something like a rum and Coke, something sweeter.
Talking of which, have any of you tried the Kraken Black Spice rum? It's utterly glorious.
My favourite beer is currently Fosters as it happens. I still haven't found the perfect one yet though, although I definitely know the ones I don't like :p -

Well we've still got McLaren to laugh at!
