Probably the best F1 story of the year so far if this turns out to happen! -
Something I noticed the other day which highlights the slight lack of activity here, was on that archive website where you can view the old forums.
Back in the vBulletin days, the time difference between the first and last threads on the first page of threads in the off topic forum, it was just 2 days. About 20 threads had posts in the previous 2 days...
Compare that to now and the difference is about 2 months.
Hopefully you follow what I mean.
Mike said the other day you could go away for 2 days and when you came back there were hundreds of posts in off topic that you missed. Now it's about 20, if that. -
So Manuel Maldonado (cousin of Pastor) will be racing in Italian F4 this year.
http://www.motorsport.com/openwheel/news/manuel-maldonado-to-make-single-seater-debut-in-italian-f4-670012/
If this guy is the Kylo Ren to the Darth Vader, then you can just imagine him turning up at his first F1 race in a few years and saying 'I will finish what you started', proceeding to crash out the entire field. -
Well in other news, today I found out that former Minardi and Red Bull driver Robert Doornbos is now making sex toys...
-
Yep I saw the times earlier, makes absolutely no sense. As you said, if there's a red flag and it goes to the full 4 hours then they won't finish it anyway as it will be dark, and the start of the race clashes with Le Mans!
I thought the entire point of them not revealing the start time until late was to avoid a clash?! Why didn't they just make the race start at 3pm local time (11am BST), then there wouldn't be any problem with the race finishing in the dark, and you'd still be able to watch the last hour of Le Mans.
Bloody useless. I can't believe they scheduled the race to be the same weekend as Le Mans in the first place. -
In a way, I can see why he'd say that, as I do agree Williams won't win while Mercedes as a works team are still in F1. But I also don't see how they can beat McLaren Honda, as I'm quite sure that McLaren will end up producing a better chassis.
It's tough for Williams, they kind of need another engine manufacturer to come and power them like Honda have with McLaren.
It's a sad thing about the new engine formula, it's not as much down to the chassis anymore, it's your engine. -
Yep, they are the only two I'd like as well, they're far better than Crofty, I hope one of them replaces him at Sky in the next couple of years.fIsince08 said:
There is only Jack Nicholls and David Addison that I'd be happy with replacing him and both are tied down on long contracts.Wynterdust said:Ugh, Ben Edwards is the only one I wouldn't want to see return from the BBC lineup :unamused: Would like to see the trio return though. -
I read somewhere that Eddie Jordan may only be part of the coverage on the live weekends, so not the weekends where it's highlights only.
But having Ben Edwards and Eddie Jordan is definitely a good thing for their coverage. I can understand why Whisper don't want more than 3 of the BBC team, they want to make it a bit different from before. I'm sure they'll do a very good job. -
Bloody hell you're too good . -
Here's another one for you all!
Body body.

Nordkurve (T1), Hockenheim, 2010? . -
Bang on . -
Thread revival, I've found a cracker. And knowing you lot, you'll get it straight away.
-
I would assume so, but I'm very glad he's going to still be covering F1, he's a gem for the BBC.
Whisper Films are going to be the team producing F1 for C4, the company is part owned by DC and Jake Humphrey I believe, and they produced F1 for BBC too. I highly doubt Jake will be the presenter (he wants to spend time with his family at home), but I wouldn't be surprised to see Jake presenting a weekly magazine show from the UK. -
Sure it will all go well Plat!
And yeah my record is about the same as onetwothree. Touch wood I haven't had a nose bleed in months. -
He's such a hypocrite, he wants everyone to be loyal to him and if they aren't then he's gonna sack them. Stupid, considering that's exactly what he did himself before he was leader.
Crazy man, he won't last until Christmas. -
Bleeding hell, I'd better get to work... -
Happy new year peeps, hope you had a fantastic New Years Eve.
Because I certainly did. -
Sounds like it!
Matt doesn't like it because he never gets that far, oi oi. -
No, I had a lot yesterday but woke up at 1pm lol
-
Decent Christmas for me too, can't complain! Like you Dave, I also got Mark Webber's book so I'm really looking forward to digging into that!
My main thing was cash as I'm saving up for a MacBook later this year, but I also got a nice little desk fan, Driveclub, a new iPad case, new pyjamas, couple of gift cards too. -
Well one thing that is certainly awesome is Daisy Ridley, I thought she was fantastic in her portrayal of Rey.fIsince08 said:
Exactly this.RevolvingPrawn said:Just got out of the cinema, very mixed feelings on Episode 7. In some ways it's awesome, in others it's not. Won't say any more than that.
Oh god yes. -
Not sure if it's true yet as I'm not sure if that's a well respected site, but if it is then honestly, I don't see how suing the FIA is going to help anything.
-
I'm going over to the grandparents' for Christmas Day which I cannot wait for, because it's my grandparents, which means I can do the following:
- Eat whatever the hell I want, when I want.
- Drink whatever the hell I want, when I want.
- Have the greatest roast potatoes, carrots and Yorkshire puds, in the world.
- Guaranteed pavlova soaked in a lake of cream.
- Unlimited chocolate (be it food, drink or ice cream).
Can't wait honestly.

The thing that will always confuse me about Maldonado though will be his Spain 2012 win. He was like a completely different man that weekend, controlled, calm, supremely quick, and yet that never happened again. So strange.
