A funny article, but even after driving for only 9 months, I find myself relating to a few of these :p

That's great to hear, really hope you can do it.LiteralZero said:

There is indeed the podium music, I always sing along :smiley:PeteTheDuck said:@LiteralZero a couple of questions if I may.
1) Is there the champagne podium music in the game?
2) What are the game main menu's like this year? Is it set on another circuit like 2014, the 'windtunnel' like 2013 and 2012, or the paddock like in 2011 and 2010?
If the game is going in the direction of a TV style presentation then I'd hope it's set in the paddock again as that's where all the TV stations broadcast from.
The menu's have a different style from previous games like the ones you mentioned, I won't detail what it is exactly (sorry!) but I think it looks very sharp and fits very nicely with the style of the game.
Also, are you planning on doing any livestreams before, or after launch, if you're allowed?
I think livestreams tell people more about a game than any trailer or screenshots do, at least from the various ones I've watched! -

Quick apology on my side as I was visiting family this past week so I have only just got back into the office this morning.
As for the Project Cars discussion, in a thread such as this, discussion surround the career mode in the game and comparisons between that and the F1 games are fine in my eyes, as long as it is on-topic and civil. If the thread strays into a discussion purely about Project Cars then something might have to be done. For now, everything is (mostly) fine.
Again, I know you want info, and it's not great we haven't been able to communicate with you as much as I'd personally like, but some of that isn't under our control (I know, you hear this a lot, but it's true).
I'm about in this thread if you have any questions (within reason of course ) and obviously as always on Twitter.
Thanks @LiteralZero, although to be fair, certain threads including this one has become mainly a Pcars discussion group..., and how can people compare it to F1 2015 when clearly they are not the same game...?However, you're the manager so its in your hands; any mention or post is happen to view in relation to 'that' title I will just pass by...
- Graphics
- Weather systems
- Force Feedback
- On screen display/HUD
- Online modes
- AI and difficulties
- Cockpit cameras, and other camera positions
- Replays
- Race engineers
- Quick race modes
That's only a few things you can compare. There's so many other things that you can compare Project CARS and F1 2015 to as well. I know we don't know everything about F1 2015 yet, but that doesn't mean people can't make comparisons.
Project CARS and F1 2015 are two of the biggest racing titles to be released this year, both on the new-gen consoles, people are bound to compare them. -
As Mark said, I have no problem with people discussing Project CARS here, just as long as it has some relevance to the F1 games. You're allowed to compare games here. I've said this before.
However, if it does drift into just discussion on Project CARS then you'll have to maybe join the discussions on it in our Off-topic forum.

I think theiWatchApple Watch has the potential to be good, but I'm definitely not going to buy the first model.
I think it'll be like the iPhone when that first came out. It was good but there's still so much to add to it and now it's fantastic.
I'm not going to buy the first because firstly, although Apple say it will last a day, I reckon that a lot of people will find it doesn't, especially if you're using it a lot of the day.
Also, it's basically an extension at the iPhone at the moment, and I can't see the point having one if I can do it on my phone, which will also be quicker and easier to use no doubt.
There's a few things you can't do either on it, like reply to Emails. You can to messages, but not Emails.
Also, if you go to the gym, you'll still have to have your iPhone in your pocket. It would be useful if you could just have the watch on its own. And it's also not waterproof.
I reckon eventually they will release a WiFi model of it which works on its own. Until they do that, and release a couple more models, that's when I'll consider buying it.

I went on F1 2014 last night, for the first time in a few months I must admit, but man, I had a fantastic race at Monaco!
I decided to see how I would get on as a proper driver, so I turned off the entire HUD, expert AI, and turned off all assists and stuck to cockpit camera only.
It was so much better than if I had all the data there! It's nice to just focus completely on the road, without looking at the track map, or looking at lap times and positions. I also didn't know how my tyre and fuel usage was, only when my engineer said.
The race itself, it was 25% (20 laps) around Monaco and I went in the Mercedes. I got a good start and took the lead, and built up about 6 seconds of a gap by lap 4, when I hit the wall and lost some of my front wing. I could tell I was going slower so I decided to pit at the end of lap 6, two laps before I planned.
I came out in traffic, and when the others pitted, I came out side by side with Magnussen for the lead, but just managed to get ahead into Casino Square.
I then built up a 4 second lead and I could feel the tyres going off, so the last three or four laps I was constantly defending, and there was about a train of seven cars behind me. I managed to hold on to 1st and took the win, and the top seven were separated by less than 5 seconds!
Anyway, a cool race! -
@Juice29 ahh yes, guess it has been a while aha :pI moved it to Motorsports Discussion back then, it makes sense as it's about actual Formula 1.So my opinion of DRS. I don't mind it and I'm absolutely ok with it being here today, especially if the racing continues to be as dull as it has been so far this season.I think sometimes it can be slightly overpowering, making it quite easy, but it's better than a car being stuck behind for laps and laps with nothing happening in my opinion. -
Well, um, yeah, I edited the link so it's not embedded. I've kept it as a link but it's probably best you don't post something like that again, just for the future, sorry :/Hughesy said:

I'll be honest, the Toyota looks better on track than the pictures make it out to be. I don't know what it is about it, it just looks fast :p -
Sorry it's taken so long to get some photos up from when I went to Silverstone, but here's some images!

This last one is a blend of the Audi, Porsche and Toyota, just a little experiment.

Banned. Permanently.SamuelTrautman said:I have played almost every racing game since early nineties and without a shadow of a doubt Project CARS is the best I have ever played. The community forum is full of ideas that are being listened too. The guys who moderate the forum are real mods, not that im saying the kids in here aint. The head of studio is very vocal on the forums too. there is also a thing called community spirit, none of that here. mind you if SMS deleted there forum with no warning that might happen to them also but I don't think they'd be that dumb.
its been a while but I still hold a grudge about that forum closure! swines!
Jokinnnng.
But yeah, I try to do my best moderating the forums, obviously. You lot in off-topic and motorsport don't need much moderating at all.
I look at all the different parts of the forums but as the DiRT section is covered well by Lee and Skiddy, I don't really moderate much there. I try and keep the F1 bit in order where possible in particular. I think the reason there's not much of a 'community spirit' as you say, is because a lot of people are disappointed with the massive lack of information and video of F1 2015 (I'm one of them, I think it's crazy how little we've seen with such little time left before release).
They were hinted that there would be a lot of behind the scenes stuff they'd be able to get an insight into, but this hasn't really happened. There's been a lot of questions on the game and other stuff said on the forum, but there hasn't been much said in response by the Codemasters peeps, and as a result of this they're now asking why there's been such a lack of interaction.
I do post there but some people get confused and assume I work at Codemasters, so I have to tell them I don't, I'm just a community moderator. -

On the way home from work the other week, popped through the Drive Thru and picked up a chocolate milkshake, mm mmmm -

No way, I didn't know that! Well that's a new relationship on the scale of Webber and Neal.RevolvingPrawn said:He's also responsible for getting it on with Carmen Jorda, the SoB.
Yeah, I think Sky are lacking a pundit who isn't an ex-F1 driver. I think Brundle is the best out of them, as he's been doing it now for nearly 20 years. That's what I do like about the BBC's coverage, they have the driver and an old team boss, and that other viewpoint works so well. I think Sky could do with someone else from the world of F1, perhaps an F1 journalist from one of the big motorsport websites (Mark Hughes springs to mind).fIsince08 said:TV Coverage
Herbert is a shoddy presenter and they seem to be adding more and more to the ex F1 driver crew. Crofty has really got worse over the past two years and it might be worth Sky changing commentators soon, Ben Edwards has been brilliant for the BBC. Maybe Sky should move for Jack Nichols or David Addison.
FOM's Graphics
One thing I have noticed for the last few years is how delayed the graphics (or sound, not sure which) is around Monaco, if they could sort that it would be a big help.
Jack Nichols has been great in Formula E this year, and David Addison is fantastic with the touring cars, possibly as good as Ben Edwards was with it, so both of them could be good replacements for Crofty. Unfortunately I don't think Crofty is leaving for a while though (I'm sure he mentioned this in the coverage at the weekend, although it could've been tongue-in-cheek.
For the graphics, and I'm not sure whether this is still the case, but in previous years I'm sure that the Monaco GP did it's own direction of the camera shots and graphics? Like usually it's the same FOM director for every race but they had a one off for Monaco? I may be wrong, but that could be a reason in the poor direction this weekend and delayed graphics. -
Ha, I bet he's glad he's out of there at the moment though! -
So what are your opinions on F1 coverage this season? A few points of discussion could include:
- The new Formula 1 App and Website
- F1's use of Twitter, Instagram and YouTube
- Sky Sports F1 and BBC F1 coverage and features (and any other TV stations you may watch)
- FOM's new TV graphics
- FOM Race coverage and direction
__________________________________The new Formula 1 App and WebsiteI really like the new Formula 1 App and Website. They've made it all sync together on all platforms (PC, tablet, mobile), and the redesign was desperately needed as the old design had been used for 10+ years and was quite out-dated. The app is really good too, and I like the various sections on it, such as the live timing.
It's obviously disappointing that a lot of the good videos they upload are F1 Premium only, but I can see why as they are better than the free ones in my view. I bought a month of Premium and it was worth it, especially with the Live Timing upgrades too.
The videos themselves are good. I'm a fan of their behind the scenes videos of the motorhomes recently, as well as other one off videos.
F1's use of Twitter, Instagram and YouTube
It's absolutely great to finally see they've realised that these things aren't a phase, and that they're here to stay! Their Instagram feed is spot on in my view, they can't really do much more with it, but Twitter and YouTube could still be improved. They should take a leaf out of Formula E's book. They upload short clips of key moments of the race (usually only 5 or 6 each race) and post them to Twitter and YouTube. It would be good if F1 did something similar. However, I can't see them doing that while it's on pay-per-view TV currently.
YouTube could definitely be improved too. The app and website has regular videos uploaded now which is great to see, but they don't upload many of them to YouTube. I think all the free ones should be uploaded at least.
Sky Sports F1 and BBC F1 coverage and features
I don't watch BBC F1 coverage, I just stick to Sky, so I'll keep it focused on them. I was chatting with @Matthew77258 on Twitter briefly about this earlier, and I'm honestly disappointed at some of the features Sky have been doing this season.
First of all, I think they're somewhat ignoring some of the smaller teams too much. We rarely see proper features and interviews with drivers such as Roberto Merhi, Marcus Ericsson and Sergio Perez (that's the main few for me). I know they had the film on Bianchi and Marussia today, but as we said on Twitter, it's unlikely there would have been any focus on the team without Bianchi scoring those points last year. The only person from Manor who gets any air time is Graeme Lowdon who seems to be on some Sky F1 Midweek Report or F1 Show every other week!
Also, some of their stuff is quite random and I'm left thinking 'what was the point of all that'. For example, Simon Lazenby climbed a boat's rigging on Friday and there was absolutely no relation to F1 at all. He did it during their weekly F1 Show, and they were checking up on his small progress every 5 minutes. I have no idea why they did it. Also the Hamilton v Henry thing. Yeah it's cool he did the football match, but they've been dragging out that feature for at least four programmes now. There's surely a limit!
However, I really like Ted Kravitz, and he is one of the best things in their coverage, along with Martin Brundle. Ted's Notebooks are great, a perfect mix of technical insight, random facts of information and race analysis. They're great fun to watch. Also, I really liked Ted's feature today on where the GP2 teams are based in Monaco, and the bits you don't really see in Monaco. More stuff like that would be great.
Something I'd love to see a feature on is how the podium ceremony works for example. F1 have a Master of Ceremonies, called Alexandre Molina, and he's responsible for the trophies, champagne, and generally making sure the podium sequences run smoothly. Something like this would be cool to see.
Or maybe if they could have a camera in the stewards room, or go behind the scenes at the FIA when they do their car checks for weight and whatever. It's the features that go into the real details of F1 that are most interesting to me.
I still think their coverage as a whole works really well. I've grown to like Simon Lazenby, he does the job of presenting really well. I'm not a fan of Johnny Herbert's analysis. I feel he's quite predictable with what he says. Damon Hill is good though.
FOM's new TV graphics
I'm pleased they revamped them for this season. The simple look works well, the font is easily readable, and it just works as a package. I'm surprised the GP2 and GP3 graphics haven't been updated though. GP2 have been on the same set for over 10 years now, with small refinements here and there, but they're old now.
FOM Race coverage and direction
I think it's good on the whole, but today in Monaco they sometimes missed some of the good stuff, or cut away from interesting events. For example. they didn't show us how Massa sustained his damage on lap 1. I still have no idea how it happened. Also, they missed the majority of Verstappen's bad pit stop. When we joined he'd been in the pit lane for over 30 seconds (so in the pit box for over 15 seconds presumably).
I'm still not a fan of the fake adverts. Don't they have enough placed around the track already?! At least in Monaco there's not enough space for any, but they seemed to get around that problem by placing actual adverts everywhere on the track. In no apparent order too. Most circuits have different phases of the same brand for a certain section of track, and then it will change. Monaco was just all of them dotted around all the time!
