  1. I am 99% sure a closed cockpit would have made no difference in his incident. The impact against that JCB would have surely smashed the perspex or whatever they'd use, so maybe even then that could cause further issues with cuts and bleeding?

For other incidents, it could certainly make a difference, but for Bianchi, no way. With a fully closed cockpit, the temperatures would be ridiculous too unless they get some kind of ventilation going on in there. Imagine at a place like Singapore, that could be dangerously hot.

Can't believe this is all actually happening. So often we've seen huge crashes and drivers walk away from them, but this seems like it could be different :( Come on Jules.

  2. I may be wrong but I believe the YouTubers were given this Work in Progress model directly by Codemasters so they can upload whatever stuff they want to their channels. It's certainly not available to the average customer like you or myself.

So your best bet is to wait a couple of weeks til it comes out, or start making loads of quality YouTube videos so you get sent one in future! :p

  3. Well I'm obviously shocked and very upset with what happened to Bianchi, but I'm gonna post a race review as I would do because up until then it was a fantastic Grand Prix.

It was definitely right to start the race behind the Safety Car and again, I think right to stop it when they did. Then when they got underway again I felt the SC was out for two or three laps too long. A lot of the drivers were saying it was good to go and some even saying it was good enough for inters (as Button proved). That was great to see Jenson up at the front again, and then from there it was good, with battles throughout the field and some supreme overtakes. I was especially impressed at Vettel's move on Massa I think it was at the hairpin. Fantastic, same with Ricciardo on Massa, incredible, and I was obviously very pleased when Lewis passed Nico for the lead!

Then Sutil went off and to be honest, I wasn't surprised the safety car wasn't called out then because with double waved yellows I thought the crane would have been able to get it away pretty swiftly. Then Bianchi slid off obviously and then I was really anxious. All the reports circling around about what may have happened, and I haven't felt like I did since Kovalainen's Spain crash in 2008 and Kubica's Canada crash in 2007. Just a sickly feeling.

As Matt said, I think the way the drivers were on the podium was very good, very professional, but I don't know why the champagne music was played. Then it was revealed that he did hit the tractor and he was taken to hospital, and now he has severe head injuries. I hope and pray that he pulls through this, I really hope he can make a full recovery.

Felipe Massa said that it was ridiculous to start the race today but I don't agree with him there. It may have been a better decision to start the race earlier on in the day, and they probably should have looking at it now, but the conditions were not absolutely treacherous, as they ran on inters for the majority of the race.

    Come on Jules.

  4. Well when I woke up at 06:02 this morning, went downstairs and turned on the TV I put on the FP3 show and I always skip through it at 30x speed to get to the action. However, for a split second I saw 'Vettel leaves Red' and I thought, 'no, it's not what I think it is'. So I re-winded and guess what, it was. Vettel leaves Red Bull!

I was not expecting that at all. Some of my mates have said they've seen it coming but honestly, I didn't think he'd go, definitely not this season. Incredible. How will he fare alongside Raikkonen next year? Gonna be so interesting. And Alonso, he's gotta be going to McLaren, surely? He's out of Ferrari, Red Bull are confirmed, and Mercedes, and Williams, and no where else would be good for him, so yeah, he's definitely off to McLaren. And that would probably put Button out of there, so where would he go?

And then Kvyat in at Red Bull! That could be a fantastic team if he has what it takes, but I feel very sorry for Vergne, again being overlooked for the Red Bull seat. I can't see Toro Rosso keeping him at Toro Rosso for another year either, and to be honest, why would he? It's pretty obvious if another Red Bull seat comes available in 2015/2016 then Verstappen will get it. I can see Sainz going to Toro Rosso now, as he should be after a great season in F3.5.

  5. It's gonna be so interesting to see what the consequences of the typhoon will have. If it doesn't effect the race, what about all the flights and getting everything out to Russia? FP1 is on in less than a week! Gonna be very interesting to see how this all develops.

  6. On the F1 quiz I got 85/100, no help either! Forgot some obvious answers though looking through the answers.

    Damn you Pete, DAMN YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!
Haha, I got to 82 I think and I checked the leaderboard and saw you had 84, so I sat for about 5 minutes thinking of what some more answers may be :p
