  1. Crazy to think that Rosberg's worst result this season is 2nd place, an average of nearly 21 points per race, which is very impressive.

It was a bit of a dull race for me, especially coming off the excitement that was Canada. Hamilton got an incredible start and to be behind Rosberg at the end of the lap was amazing! But fair play to Rosberg for keeping him behind. Great to see Bottas on the podium though, surely the first of many, and a great drive by him to keep in touch with the Merc's.

I am sure Lewis will win Silverstone though, and I have a feeling the British fans will bring Rosberg some bad luck :p

I know the post goes back a while a go, but am I the only person who found that Volkswagen thing massively hilarious?

The first time I watched it I laughed my socks off, really funny :p A really stupid thing to do obviously as it was flippin dangerous, but hilarious :D

  3. I think the 5 second penalties are a really good idea, especially the fact you can serve them before your pitstop too. Really good idea in my view. For the penalty points, they seem to have stopped dishing them out recently. They were handing them out a lot at the start of the season and now it's like they've forgotten them.

  4. I am really saddened to hear that Formula 1 and motorsport cartoonist Jim Bamber has died.

Most of you have probably never heard of him, but he used to do a cartoon each week in Autosport magazine which I absolutely loved. When I was 7 or 8 I used to copy them each week and at the time I had no idea what the cartoons meant with various rude words at times, so looking back it's pretty funny :p

I wrote to him back in 2005 when I was eight years old, and my mum ordered one of his books for me. I sent him some of my copies of his cartoons and he sent me a signed copy of his book (along with two other signed copies later on too). He also sent me some black and white copies of cartoons for me to colour in myself, and I was so pleased when he drew a cartoon just for me, of me in a BAR overtaking Schumacher in the Ferrari!

I have a few of his pit crew figurines such as the 2005 Williams, Ferrari and Renault, and the 2007 McLaren, and he also sent me a limited edition pewter model of one of his cartoon model cars, as well as a plain pit crew figurine for me to paint myself. What an absolute legend.

If you haven't seen his cartoons then take a look as they're so good. RIP Jim Bamber.

  5. As this thread has had some track layout alterations, how about we make some of our own :p

I've made some very slight alterations to Abu Dhabi which I think would perhaps make the racing a bit more exciting, taking into account the sea and hotel of course :p

You can make some of your own by going to http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/

Just draw the route manually (straight lines) and double click where you want your next point to be. Then click 'Save Route' when you are done, and share publically, then get your link and post it here.

  7. Today I went to a car show at my school and they had some real gems there!

First of all they had Colin McRae's 2002 Ford Focus WRC rally car with the lovely Martini livery and stripes and it was awesome. The whole inside was carbon fibre and there were so many switches too, and the steering wheel was just a steering wheel, no buttons or anything.

Then they had Tom Ingram's current BTCC car and he was there with his engineers! Unfortunately Tom was talking to some other people but I had a chat to the engineers and they told me some various things about the car, but one thing I didn't know was that the car doesn't actually have a Toyota engine! They use some special engine which I'd never heard of before. Anyway, he opened up the bonnet for me and showed me it and it was pretty nice.

Then they had some various classic cars, such as an Aston Martin DB5, an old Mini race car, which is so low to the ground it is mad. It is so basic inside too, awesome. They also had a Lotus Esprit, a Porsche 911 RS, old VW campervans and Beetles, old US cruisers, cars from the 1930s, and a sweet BBQ to go with it too. Lovely day!

  9. Well I was not expecting a Williams 1-2 after that session! Amazing stuff. Massa must be feeling great after leaving Ferrari. A number 2 for four years and now he goes and he is on pole with the Ferrari's much slower, awesome.

The race should be exciting. The Williams and Mercedes actually look very similar on pace, and then Lewis will probably get through the pack to join the fight at the top.

I really don't know who will win this race.
