  1. Mike, you're making me emotional now...

@Matthew77258 @RevolvingPrawn Do you guys remember your old house and I came over to stay and you made me a mash potato mountain? Well when @onetwothree comes over Dave's house then give him that!

  2. I can't see Ferrari providing a championship winning car for the next 2 years (2015, 2016), and isn't that when Alonso's contract is up at Ferrari? I think Mercedes will win again next season to be honest, but with close competition from Red Bull.

So where can Alonso go after that? Mercedes I think will stay the same with Hamilton and Rosberg for a few years, and I can't really see Vettel and Ricciardo leaving Red Bull either. McLaren, maybe they'll be competitive again by then, who knows.

But I think if Alonso wants another championship he'll have to go somewhere else. I think McLaren could be his best bet.

  3. There were some changes to the Montreal Circuit at the weekend for the Canadian Grand Prix, and a lot of them focus on the placement of advertisements.

    Canada
When referring to corner numbers they are as seen on this track map.

    1) Pit straight-T1: Fly Emirates branding along the entire length of each of the walls.
    2) T2: Fly Emirates branding on the grass of the inside of the corner.
    3) T2-T3: Fly Emirates branding on the inside wall instead of Shell V-Power as in F1 2013.
    4) T6: UBS branding on the grass of the inside of the corner.
    5) T8: New tarmac run off at T8 with a yellow sausage kerb at the end.
    6) T10: No gravel any more on the run off and it's now completely tarmac.
    7) T12: Very brief Pirelli branding on the inside wall
    8) T14: No gravel any more on the run off and it's got a yellow sausage kerb on the exit

Not really a fair reflection though is it @JensonBottom?

@PeteTheDuck - Vettel was quality right up until he got stuck behind a car it was impossible to pass. Lets be honest here, there was not anything he could do about Hulkenberg. Ricciardo couldn't have passed him either. And we have to remember, while Ricciardo did that lap, Vettel was tucked up behind Perez. Track position meant a lot today, that is why Vettel lost out, not due to speed so much. Vettel is nearly there, just needs something to go his way for once in 2014.
That's not strictly true. Had he used more skill he could have overtaken him :p Nah, just kidding, but even Button managed to pass Hulkenberg today in what is a pretty average car, and it didn't take him long to do that either. I haven't seen the move on TV but Button seemed to just breeze up behind him and Alonso and he got past them pretty pronto.

  5. Ricciardo has been doing better than Vettel this season. That's 6 races out of 7 where he's finished ahead now and Red Bull didn't make a poor decision on Vettel's strategy. I honestly think Ricciardo's was just better which therefore got him out ahead of Vettel and then Ricciardo made a couple of great moves to go and win an epic Grand Prix.

Ricciardo is doing so well this year, I'm so pleased he won.

  6. But that TV director, flipping heck, he needs sacking. A move at the hairpin was happening with Hamilton running wide and Rosberg getting through, AND THEY SHOW US A SHOT OF THE CROWD?! And then in the heat of battle later on they show a shot of Massa's brother sniffing his arm! Stupid.

  7. I may be still high with adrenaline, and I might think differently tomorrow, but that was possibly the best F1 race I have seen. At least in the top 3 and that was far better than Bahrain for me! Ricciardo, I'm so pleased for him, what a great guy. I'll have a full report later!

  8. I would personally keep FP1 but reduce FP2 to 60 minutes. I don't like the idea of cutting it down to one session at all. Martin Brundle said about it yesterday on TV and I can't remember exactly what he said but I agreed with what he had to say. Something about F1 making money from the race promoters, which comes from fans buying tickets, and the TV companies. So having a session less would mean less TV time, which is worse for sponsors because obviously they want as much publicity as possible, and the fans see less too!
