  1. The S9 is missing in the Dirt Rally Series, and it should be there since it is the WRC-champion of 2003. 😊
  2. I’m not saying that the system should be exactly like the one in ACC, but a system that give the player feedback on their driving style, pace and so on, so that you are ENCOURAGE to drive the proper way. As it is now, DR2.0 give no such support. As for RX, I have given up on that mode long time ago. The AI is waaay better than me, even on the easiest settings, and I have no clue of why, so I’ve just lost interest completely... Under any circumstances, online gaming is not for me, still I enjoy the rating system in ACC. 😉👍🏻
  3. This is so true! I’ve been away from DR2.0 for a week or so now, after investing in ACC on PS4PRO. Since I don’t have a simrig, I sit in my couch driving with the stock DualShock4, and after tweeking a bit (Deadzone 5%, speed sensitivity 10%, steer filter 25%, steer speed 10%), the cars handles excellent using the stick. 😎 I really recommend this game for those who appreciate authenticity and realism. Assetto Corsa Competizione has three important features that should be in any racing simulator, including Dirt Rally 2.0: (1) Driver rating system that tracks EVERYTHING you do in the game both online and offline, including pratice sessions(!). Why can’t a rally game track track competence, consistency, car control, pace, safety and race craft? This tracking system encourage and teach the player to do proper driving, something that really is missing in DR2.0 (2) Proper stats and progress tracking. ACC has solved this quite simple but still excellent with a track sheet showing all the circuits with total distance driven, total time driven, number of valid laps, invalid laps, races, finished races, wins, podiums, penalties, served and dsq (disqualifications), and personal best (from any game mode, not just «time attack»). If you select any of the tracks, you zoom into a new sheet with the same details broken down by car model. (3) It is possible to be on top of the leaderboards when racing against the AI on easy in career mode, unlike in DR2.0. 😁
  4. Anyone? Especially the two wheels milestones seems a bit odd. I mean, 5 minutes on two wheels?? 🙄 I am soon at 14,000 km and I have now a total of 8.72 seconds on two wheels! Is there a spesific car to use on a specific circuit for this one, or? Thanks in advance.

    DiRTy Gossip about DIRT 5

Ok, I haven’t played OnRush, but I really got the Driveclub feeling when I went through those videos, so I think there must be some heritage there. 😎

    DiRTy Gossip about DIRT 5

So Dirt5 is using the same engine as Driveclub? Well, that’s good news, because Driveclub is a very good racing game. Loads of progress trackers, statistics and leaderboards. Things that the Dirt Rally team should take notice of and implement in future installments of Dirt Rally games and WRC titles. Driveclub also had a good set of trophies for trophy hunters and completionists like myself. I like titles were the platinum trophy actually is obtainable unlike titles like Dirt Rally and Dirt4. I’ve driven Driveclub «around the globe» and then some, and some of the most enjoyable things in that game was all the street legal cars which you could paint with stock factory colours completely without liveries and stickers. If this is Driveclub 2, or Driveclub on dirt, I actually might enjoy this title even without a rally discipline. 🙂

And one more thing, any racing game, including this rally title, you should be able to play casually. Like myself sitting comfortably in my coach using a stock controller. 😉

I see you and your friends just don’t want to understand. I’ll sum it up: I want authenticity and a rally game that suits a broad audience which can compete and experience wins and be a champion regardless of skill, and at the same time include levels of AI and the ability to turn off all driving aids and the possibility to crank up penalties like driving off road into bushes, punctures etc. There is no need to dumb down the physics or handling, because if it is good, people will recognise it, even the not so good players as long as you have some interest in driving and motorsports. I want more interaction where you can see the drivers change the tyres after punctures, and see people help you and your car getting out of the ditch or a tree. That is authenticity to me. This is also the reason for me to enter the Expert DiRT club, and not the Official DiRT which is for arcade racers and I don’t want to race against people using bonnet view, bumber view or other outside views. 😁 As for the career mode in DR2.0 (and DR), it is a strange creation, and as I said earlier, if it hadn’t been for the possibility to track your progress (with credits and a working odometer), I would never have touched it. Why can’t DR track progress like other racing titles? Why must time trial and my records be seperated from everything else in the game?

Aha, but I want authenticity, so I drive carefully and don’t drive «like it is a game»! Big difference, and maybe now you understand why I say that this game encourage an arcade behaviour? If I could get a slider to decide the level of difficulty that suits MY driving style and the level of how much I want to push myself, I would be happy. Sometimes I want to win comfortably, other times I want to have a level AI to me, and sometimes I want to really struggle, but that should be up to me to decide, BECAUSE THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE A RALLY SIMULATOR, right? Another dope thing in DR2.0 is the 4 second penalty for resetting you car after being off the road. The game should encourage you to actually get out of that bush, ditch or whatever you have gotten into, and onto the road to continue by yourself. That’s why the cars have reverse. 😁 The last option should be to reset the car, and you should get at least 1 minute penalty, that is twice as much as changing a tyre. This is what I call arcade stuff that suits better in Dirt 5 and Grid than in DR2.0. And before anyone starts arresting me: This penalty should of course be optional such as everything else in a proper simulator game. And that thing about excluding faster drivers from CPUs is just an excuse for being ignorant to people with a different view than yourself. I mean: It would be a hassle to have a couple of easier tiers because there will be «more championships to play through». Seriously?? You have probably 35,000 km ++ behind the wheels, and you worry about a couple of dozen stages for a total of 200 km extra? Come on! 🙄 Read my posts again, and you’ll see that I suggests even harder CPUs for the hardcore masochists!

@Mike Dee, my tests were done in Spain and Poland, several times last year using N4/R4 and H2FWD, to see if they would patch it, but nope. You have something from Australia for group A. It is well known that the times in Poland is way faster than the other countries? Why? It is also known that H2FWD and R2 have times that is faster and more difficult to beat. Why? Or have these issues been patched lately? No, the game is very unbalanced in this aspect and for those of us that are slow, it is REALLY TERRIBLE and AWFUL. AND it is unbalanced since the My Team events and championships starts at 50%, which is actually just plain stupid. But of course in your eyes this isn’t a problem because it suits you, so if someone try to voice out an opinion it just «complaining without insputable evidence» which shows your extremely arrogant attitude. I’m just waiting for you to tell me to wait for Dirt5 because it will suit me better, right?

    Welcome to the new GRID

If you really want to test your endurance, I think Train Sim World would test your patience, especially if you go for all of the 13 DLCs after finishing the base game. 😂

    Welcome to the new GRID

Ok, thanks. In other words, a humongous grind. 🥱 I wish the game would have had pitstops to change tyres and petrol filling, so I could have made some proper endurance races. I really wonder what the person that came up with the «Around the world»-trophy for this game were thinking. Maybe the person were confusing Grid with Dirt Rally 2.0, and mixed two of the trophies since I think «Fire up that car ... again»-trophy is better suited for Grid, while the «Around the world»-trophy suits Dirt Rally 2.0 better. 🙃

@Mike Dee, It is enough for you, yes, but by starting the career mode at 50%, exclude maybe 80% of the players. This could have worked if it hadn’t been for the fact that the only place you can track your progress is in My Team where you got credits and where the accumulators for driven kilometres (odometer) per car are working! The AI IS terrible in this game, firstly because of the flaws I mentioned before in this thread, and secondly because for MOST PEOPLE they are non-exsistant because they are way ahead. So how can I judge something that is out of reach for me?? I don’t understand the idea that a game has to have extreme AI to be accepted as a sim game. The handling and the physics in this game are top notch realism wise as of today, and I think normal people can relate to that fact and enjoy the game even though their name isn’t Jon or Mike Dee. Why should Codemasters rob them of the enjoyment of the career mode in My Team? That really puzzles me. 🙄

    The Solberg World Cup

Hmm, too bad. Maybe next championship, then... Ended up 813th in the Solberg championship, and quite happy with that. 😊 Too bad I can’t see my results for each rally, only the total. 🤔

    Welcome to the new GRID

I’m at Gold-level 28 and well into season 3 at the moment and soon reaching 12,500 km. Do you have some tips for how you keep up the motivation for «The around the globe»-trophy after you’ve reached Grid-level and completed the career mode including the three seasons? I recond I will be around 15,000 km after completing the last season, which means I will have 25,000 km to go before I reach the goal for the achievement.

Where is the Global and Friends tabs?

I am at Season 3 now, and I have noticed that those tabs now are present, but from the second race and onward, the game isn’t able to fill those tabs with times. The yellow G is blinking a couple of times down in the lefthand corner, but nothing happens. So if I want to see times in those tabs, I still have to do my trick going in and out of replaymode. 🤔
  17. After finishing a race, there is 5 tabs on the screen: 1) Race, 2) Standings, 3) Team standings, 4) Global times and 5) Friends times. But the next time a race and get to the finishing screen, the forth and fifth tabs are always gone. Has anyone else noticed that?

The fastest drivers ARE marginalized per definition. Having said that, I’ve never had any opinions regarding Elite and Master, but I wouldn’t mind if there were Legendary and Insane too. Why not put in G.O.A.T. as well at 200% for those who are real machos. All I am saying is that the lower levels are way too hard for the average player. So why not let us have «I am too young to die» and «Extremely Easy» before the «Very Easy»-level starts? It is not the same thing as saying I want the higher levels watered down - I really don’t understand how you came up with that??

I appreciate your videos and your tips above, which can be really usefull. Still, there is a huge difference in the approach of this game. I enjoy the game as a rally simulator, but your and @Mike Dee’s approach is to play the game as a racing simulator. In my opinion that is a BIG difference. My dream is that there will be a rally game in the future where there are stages with a distances of up to 40 - 50 kilometres each, and where endurance is the key issue, not «how fast can I possibly be». But Oliver Solberg provided a little taste of my dream in the ongoing Wales rally in Solberg World Cup, when he put all the four longest stages in one go without a visit to the service area, in which force you to drive really careful. 😁

    The Solberg World Cup

I really enjoyed this championship, with only one retirement after hitting a fence on a bridge in Sweden. Awaiting championship standings after 631th in Wales finishing with just minor scratches on my car. 😊 @PJTierney, I really liked what Oliver did with the last third of Wales: 4 long stages with a total of almost 43 kilometres without service! I actually had to consider other tyres than soft. I went for intermediate, but that last stage was extremely slippery at the end, so I really should have gone for hard. Anyway, can you consider reducing the number of services in Expert DiRT? In New Zealand you’ve put in 6 services. How about reducing it to three for the next rallies to come? That club is after all for experts, right? 😁👍🏻

@Mike Dee, you obviously drive to compete, I play the game as a rally enthusiast who like realism and authentisity. I compete against myself and against an AI that suits my preferences. Sometimes I want the AI to be better than me, sometimes I want the AI to be be slower than me, and sometimes I want it to be more careful than aggressive etc. I have seen plenty of youtube videos of really good drivers in DR2.0 and I’m not impressed: The times are good, but it looks like someone driving a Need for Speed game: The pro gamers reveiles the shortcommings of the physics and the handling model, in other words: It looks UNREALISTIC! 😁👎🏻 As for rambling about exluding others: It takes one to know one. Instead of being ignorant, you should be thankfull for all the normal people who buys rally games. Without them, 95% of the revenue would have been gone and there would not have been anything called Dirt Rally. They tried making a «realistic» rally game back in 2003 called Richard Burns Rally, which was a perfect example of «the more difficult, the more realistic». Fact is that the game was almost undriveable to the average Joe, even with a steeringwheel, and what happened? Shortly after the release the developer went bankrupt. You see, money don’t grow on trees. 😉

That brings me to another thing: I’m not that much into Rallycross but to complete the game and get the platinum I had to play some RX. But still I wanted to give RX another shot with season 4, but with trophies like «Sunday driver» and «Launch event», Codemasters effectively killed RX so that part is game over for me. The same goes for the «...Flatout» trophy which has killed all my interest for the Colin McRae scenarios. For a simulator game, the trophies should be focused on experiencing all parts of the game, not to beat insane and meaningless records which just encourage arcade behaviour and a Need for Speed feeling. 🤢

Big jump in difficulty between Clubman and Pro

This is an interesting point of view that deviates significantly from mine. I use cockpit view showing the steering wheel to get the authentic feel. 3rd person view is faster for me, but I want the driving experience as realistic as it can be using the stock controller on my PS4. I went on and started a clubman career championship with the Peugeot 206 (2000cc) today, and half way through I’m 4th with 2nd place in New Zealand (30 sec behind), 10th in USA (1 minute 30 sec behind the winner) and 11th in Finland (2 minutes behind the winner). With over 30,000 km behind the wheels in this game, but still minutes behind. And this is supposed to be easy?! To design a game to be competitive with the top 5% gamers is just stupid! The top players can compete with each other in eSports or whatever - no need for CPUs. The CPUs and their AI are there for the not-so-good players, the completionists, the trophy hunters, those who love authensity and realism (like myself) and all other normal people who has paid good money for the game.

Big jump in difficulty between Clubman and Pro

The AI in this game can really be described in one single word: TERRIBLE. The CPUs are not affected by weather nor time of day. Some countries, like Poland, the CPUs are extremely fast compared to other locations, even on easiest settings, the same goes for some of the car classes like H2FWD. I allways ends up as number 17 or lower in the AI challenges in My Team, and ends up as DNF in RX weekly challenges. I managed to reach Pro-level in rally, just to get religated to clubman the next season. So, I am mostly staying away from anything that has any kind of AI in it in «My Team». Still I play this mode the most (because it is the only mode you can track your progress), and by now I have driven some 30,000 km and reach 73,000,000 Cr after having bought and fully upgraded every rally in the game. And still I’m not able to beat the AI! I have been fiddling with the game setups and with car setups, but for me, it has actually no effect whatever I do. So I’ve ended up playing the game with standard DualShock4 with absolutely no assists, manual gearshifting and cockpit view showing the steeringwheel. Allways remember to use soft tyres, with two exceptions 1) Wet in Spain or Germany, then it’s wet tyres, 2) Allways winter tyres in Monte Carlo. As for car setup, I can sum up that experience with the same experience I got when I went from automatic gears to manual: It had an impact on my driving from quite wild to more calm driving with less damage to the car, but my times are the same - no improvements. So why bother? I have praticed a lot, but the AI is still a long way ahead. So my experience, as a person that enjoy simulators and as a rally enthusiast, this game fails horribly when it comes to AI.

Where is the Global and Friends tabs?

Not very lively here I must say. 🙄 For those who might wonder: To make the Global times and Friend tabs show up if they are gone, press the triangle button for replay, and then the circle button to get out of replay mode, and Voilà! Be careful though, not to push the circle button twice, because it will make the session restart and there is no «Are you sure?». 🤪
