    Dirt 5 will be amazing!

I’m sure it will be a great off-road game for people that are into Forza Horizon, Crew, Onrush an such, and the name «Dirt» can follow that road. Then the rally games for rally enthusiasts should change to something else than «Dirt Rally», since rally isn’t about «off road» racing. It is a form of motorsport that takes place on public or private roads with modified production or specially built road-legal cars. These roads includes taramac roads, so in other words, not only «dirt» and certainly not off road. Here is a nice comprihention of the history of the rally motorsport: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rallying
  2. I play the game using the stock DS4 on my PS4Pro, with no assists and manual gearshifting in steeringwheel cockpit view. Surely there is always room for improvements, but in my opinion there is no other game to date that has better handling on public or private taramac roads than Dirt Rally 2.0. Maybe I don’t push hard enough but I find it really enjoyable to drive on asphalt in DR2.0, and I’m sad that there won’t be another taramac rally or two in the game - the narrow roads of Corsica and Ireland would have suited this game incredibly well. However, what Codemasters should work on is the behaviour on snow which in game feels like wet gravel/mud in Sweden, but fact is that you can have as much friction as on asphalt on those roads. The snow and ice behaviour in Monte Carlo isn’t something to shout hurray for either, with strange behaviour that really should be looked into.
  3. Please implement in game accumulators (total distance pr car model, per stage and rally), in game statistics, and in game telemetry data.

DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

Should also include a stage editor and stage designer. And accumulators and statistics. 😇

DiRTy Gossip about WRC 8 and WRC 9

In retrospec I have to say that I’ve been quite disapointed with WRC8. I was introduced to rally by Colin McRae Rally and Colin McRae Rally 2.0 for over 20 years ago, but from 2001 and up until february 2019, it was the WRC-games that was my favourites with WRC4 on Playstation 2 as my favourite game. Up to now, I don’t think that Codemasters has delivered more than medicore rally titles, mainly because of lack of content. But, finally in 2019 Codemasters delivers a proper rally game with a complete rally calendar. This time around it will be DR2.0 that is the benchmark, and I hope that will rise the quality of WRC9, because in WRC8 it seems that KT Racing has been sleeping on their laurels.

DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

Hmmm, looks like Dirt Showdown 2? Personally Dirt 2 and 3 wasn’t my cup of tea, neither was Dirt Showdown. I guess I’ll sit on the fence on this one and wait a bit. Luckily I got DR2.0 and in September WRC9 is coming, so I will have my rally fix anyway...

    Version 1.14 Update Discussion

Do you use the same Racenet account for both platforms? I would like to continue my progress if I were to change to PC or PS5 later on. I hope that is possible.
  8. Extremely unstable this game has become. Days and days with connection issues! I managed to drive 1 stage of the Weekly in NZ, and then it has been hopeless to continue. 🤬 I’m on PS4. The GRID server on the other hand, has never had an issue. 🙄 Priorities, priorities... 🙄

    GRID Season 3 - Arriving April 15th

I downloaded season 3 right now on my PS4Pro and it looks good. I’m looking forward to dive into it and the new trophies later tonight. 😎👍🏻 But now that we have gotten new objectives in the game, I have a question for you, @CMTGK: Can we have objectives for driving distance for each of the locations and each of the track variants, please? Like Bronze 100 km, Silver 200 km and Gold 500 km? It would help my spirits towards the «Around the globe»-trophy. Please, please, please? 🤓 I would also really love to have accumulators (Total driven kilometers) for each track and each car also in GRID, like those in Driveclub. 😊
  10. Do yourself a favour, and buy the one year pass which includes all 4 seasons and the Flatout pack. I promise you will not regret. 😊👍🏻

    The Solberg World Cup

I know, so that’s why I suggest to have the option to quit between all stages and not only from the service area. My experience is that if I can load the stage a second time, the game fix the problem.

    The Solberg World Cup

Yepp, I know, I took part in The Solberg Race. This time it is snow, so the problem with acid rain doesn’t appear in Monte Carlo. But the problem is present in Expert DiRT, and I’m sure you know the organizer of that one. 😉
  13. I really like the H1-class, and I think it should be expanded by more cars from the really good all days. I really love the DS21 from the 50s/60s. 😊👍🏻 So I would like to see the Renault 8: And the old Saab 96: The Volvo Amazon: The Ford escort MK1: And the Peugeot 504:

    The Solberg World Cup

@PJTierney, it would be great if the organizers only use rain stages in combination with service areas. In this way, the driver can quit in case of metorite/acid rain on the stage, which I still experience from time to time on my PS4Pro (for instance in Scotland stage 08 in Expert DiRT). There should really be an option to quit between stages in Clubs and also My Team, so that the driving experience isn’t ruined by a stupid bug that makes i impossible to see through the white rain covering the screen.

Official DiRT Clubs - 2020 Season

Ok, so I’m playing ExpertDirt and things goes quite well, then on stage 08... METEORITE RAIN!!! 🤬 I guess the programmers aren’t able to fix this problem, but at least let the player be able to quit before the start of each stage, and not just retire. 😡 Now I’m not sure if I’m able to finish Scotland because of a bug that has existed for 22 patched versions of the game. 👎🏻
  16. Norway and PS4. My credits are gone, and very unstable connection. ☹️
  17. Server connectivity issues on my part as well, on PS4. Error messages and sometimes I get connection, but all my credits are gone. ☹️ Please fix!

Official DiRT Clubs - Vote on 2020 Season

I decided to try out the Expert Rally in Scotland with the Subaru Impreza 2008. I soon discovered that «no assists» also means manual gears. After almost 25,000 km with automatic gearshifting, I thought this could be interesting. 🤔 Using the square and x-button to shift gears was quite awkward, but it was interesting to experience how much smoother the car went through the stages, and I felt actually more in control of the car. Still, with hardcore damage, it was quite hard with several minutes extra time on almost every service just to get the car going. So I set my goal to get to the finish line after 12 stages. It was nerve wrecking, but what do you know: I made it! 🤠 Not only that, but I managed a 27th on Expert level. 🤪 After such a fine result, I went to take the Group B weekly with no assists and manual shifting, and yes, same experience, my Lancia didn’t behave like a uncontrolled beast anymore, suddenly I was in control. Still I struggle a bit when I need to shift down and use the handbreak at the same time in hairpins and junctions, and I also find it difficult to set the car in reverse and then back in first gear after a dead stop in a tree, stone or other obstacles, but my conclusion is that using automatic gearshifting is a hinder to perform better in this game. I look forward to the next championship in Expert DiRT - I’ll be there. 😁
  19. It will be interesting to see how all the PS+ people will receive the game. Is it too difficult, or will it be enjoyed also by the average gamer? Will the game be «popular» for a month or so, or will DR2.0 experience an increase in the fan base? Will people be more into RX, or will rally prevail amongst the new comers? Time will show. 🙂 I think it is great that Sony and Codemasters give the PS+ subscribers a possibility to try out this magnificent game. 🙂

    Colin McRae: FLAT OUT Pack

I’ve just started on the Colin scenarios and I think the Scotland location is an excellent piece of work and great fun to drive. I also love the increase of the intensity from the co-driver. The pace notes are just magnificent. 😃👍🏻

DiRTy Gossip about WRC 8 and WRC 9

Thanks for the heads up. 👍🏻 Competition is good, and I hope that you at Codemasters keep up the amount of content that we now see in DR2.0 with 13 rally locations. 😎
  22. The stages in game are replications of real stages. The problem is the relation between the car and the surface in the game. Unfortunately the physics are not as they should be in DR2.0, especially on snow. If you take one of the GTRs for a spin in Sweden using outside view behind the car, you will se how the car floats on the road. This is not how the cars behave with proper winter tyres with spikes. Actually, in some aspects you should have the same amount of grip in Sweden as you have on asphalt. As a reference I would say Wrc8 have much better physics in this area. That also goes for gravel physics, which I find DR2.0 to be too slidy and floaty. When it comes to why people like driving on taramac in this game, I’m not surprised because I find the handling of the cars and physics on asphalt to be quite good (dare I say realistic?) and very fun to drive. 🙂👍🏻 But I also agree that Poland is a great location with very nice roads to drive on. The problem with Poland, I think, is the AI that is set to be waaay too fast, so for many it is just a turn off to drive somewhere you always ends up last anyway...

    Rally 2.0 worth it?

A little too late for my recommendations then. But I make my respond anyway in case anyone else is wondering about the same thing. 😊 I’m an average player using the stock Dualshock for the PS4, and have now at least a total of 25,000 km behind the «wheels». So there is no surprise when I say that I really love this game, and still playing it on almost a daily basis. Rally is my favourite, driving in cockpit view with no assist (apart from using automatic gearshifting). I bought this game as a prerelease, and bought season 3/4 when it came out, so I’ve paid the full price for this experience. It wasn’t because of DirtRally which was quite an underwhelming experience in my opinion. Dirt 4 was better but a little bit too repetitive for my liking. Having played rallygames for more than 20 years starting with the first Colin McRae Rally, I would say that finally, after 20 years, Dirt Rally 2.0 is the real successor of Colin McRae 2.0 That is if you buy the complete edition of DR2.0. You get 13 rally locations and 13 rallycross locations in one package. Finally Codemasters deliver a rally game with a location content that can compete with the WRC-games. 😊 The game has its shortcomings: - Unbalanced AI like in Poland and AI seems to not be affected by weather or low visibility - Snow in daytime in Sweden makes it extremely difficult to drive in cockpit view because of bad visibility, I have to change to outside view - Generally the cars slides a little too much in all conditions, except for taramac which I actually find excellent - Snow are too slippery, both in Sweden and Monte Carlo, and in this aspect Codemasters really should learn from WRC8 which is much closer to the real deal My biggest frustrations with the game is: - DR2.0 doesn’t encourage sim driving. The handling of the cars is excellent, but because of the extremely fast AI, you are forced to drive in an arcade way to beat the AI - The game offers no sort of statistics, like total km or time driven broken down per location or car model - Your personal best is connected to Time Trial mode, and can not be seen or beaten anywhere else in the game But all in all I think this game is worth all the NOK 1000,- I had to pay, and I have no problem recommending this game (the complete edition) to anyone who likes racing games. 😎👍🏻
  24. Thanks, mate. I will have a closer look at your suggestions. 🙂👍🏻
  25. @PJTierney, a little question: Do you use anything to stop the rumbling from the steering wheel to go into the floor? I had a seat and steeringwheel some years ago, but I had to get rid of it because the force feedback and rumbling went into the floor and could easily be heard by the people living under my flat. I don’t want that to happen again... 😳
