Turn 11 in Catalunya (where the camber of the corner throws you off) and also the bump in Suzuka really need a bit of a rework. Think they did rework some of the chicanes for 2019 so guess there’s always a chance. Of course laser scanning of all tracks would be ideal but I know that would be a bit too much to ask for with the two new tracks having to be modelled as well with the new game, but definitely hope they could do it later down the line.

Best to keep things polite, I do agree though that the handling on F1 2019 was very “slidey” after going back and trying the physics on F1 2017 as well (that is when comparing to using no ABS and traction control). I hope the physics of F1 2020 have been giving further refinements and hope the cars feel a bit more planted for this years game.

Went back and played some F1 2017 last night and couldn’t believe how much sharper the visuals are when playing in cockpit cam. There’s definitely a huge downgrade in the glove and internal car textures in F1 2019 by comparison. Sadly too late for them to probably address in any patches now with F1 2020 on the horizon

My 3 main questions for F1 2020. 1. Will the handling be improved? 2. Will the way ERS is implemented be more realistic? 3. Will we be able to complete a full F2 season as our own driver or again only in championship mode as one of the real drivers? 4. Will the blurry interiors/gloves be fixed in cockpit cam? All in all I’m intrigued by what the new game has to offer and think the new “My Team” mode will add more of an interesting and varied experience to the game.

Safety Car appears in almost every race
stephensmattlee replied to Magic1111's topic in General Discussion
Has been weirdly inconsistent for me. Completed a full season on 50% races with Full damage and had multiple safety cars and VSCs every single race. Now up to Monaco doing 100% races on Simulation damage and haven’t had a safety car at all. Definitely enjoying not having it appear every race at the moment and seems to be working well for me now. -
What if the game didn't completely change every year?
stephensmattlee replied to DrDraken's topic in General Discussion
I would love for them to but there’s also the difficulty of the developers having to work from home independently and therefore progress will be slower as well. I guess it all depends on what Liberty Media/FOM decide upon with Codemasters going forward with no one knowing how long it will be before the F1 season gets underway again. To be honest I really see them giving us this years liveries in the 2019 game as a patch/DLC and then the 2020 game being released far later in the year once everything calms down and the season is underway. -
What if the game didn't completely change every year?
stephensmattlee replied to DrDraken's topic in General Discussion
I think if any year they were to delay a game in the series and perhaps to a DLC addon to the previous game then this year would be it with the uncertainty of when the official F1 season will get back under way. If I had to guess I’d say Codemasters are probably looking to port the driver data and car liveries into the 2019 game and then release F1 2020 when the official season gets underway (probably with more features aside from the expected new tracks and car models). I agree with what you’re suggesting but it’s all down to the same reason why EA release FIFA games every year without any drastic changes to the base game, ... money. Codemasters are contractually tied to releasing a new game yearly and a lot of the time is eaten up by working on the new tracks, driver models and car liveries, hence why it’s made sense for them to split the team into two so they can add more to the games in the limited time they have. Plus not to mention by charging full retail price on a new game every year it allows them to pay their teams and invest more into the games. Sadly as a result of the time constraints and being tied to releasing a new game every year it means that a lot of the base code of the game is built upon and then through various patches any obvious problems attempt to get ironed out rather than reworked entirely. -
Yesterday it was confirmed that F1 2020 will feature all 22 tracks as this years official calendar originally had planned. Perhaps once the season finally gets underway Codemasters could possibly patch the game to represent the calendar we end up seeing as an alternative option for the game. Considering work on the game originally begun long before the current situation unfolded around the world I think it makes sense for them to release the game as they intended it to be. The main problem I feel Codemasters are faced with is trying to predict the performance of the teams without any real data or indication of how the teams will actually perform, with the exception of pre-season testing, which again doesn’t give a clear indication. If they were to go by pre-season testing then the lineup would most probably be... 1. Mercedes 2. Red Bull 3. Ferrari 4. Racing Point 5. Renault 6. McLaren 7. AlphaTauri 8. Alfa Romeo 9. Haas 10. Williams Note these aren’t my predictions, but Formula 1’s own predictions just prior to the Australian GP cancellation, as posted here... https://amp.formula1.com/en/latest/article.power-rankings-from-10-to-1-where-do-the-teams-stand-ahead-of-australia.3NhOSQN07l1E1b90evIyo5.html Would you be happy for the game to reflect this or would you prefer any alternatives, such as using the team’s performances from the end of the 2019 season until more performance data becomes available?

I asked Paul Jeal on Twitter last week if there was any news on F1 2020 and he replied “Should be confirmed fairly soon. Trying to get the info out as soon as we can.” About the only news I’ve heard so far but assuming that as Codemasters have had to model 2 completely new tracks for this season (which have also only recently been finished building for the new F1 season) probably means a lot of work for the developers to have to model so not expecting the new game to be released quite as early as last year but I’d love to be proved wrong. I’m sure we’ll hear some news in the coming weeks. Last year F1 2019 was announced at the end of March but prior years were announced in May so would expect to hear something within that time frame if history is anything to go by 👍

F1 2019 not working on PS4 CM please read
stephensmattlee replied to mykalboi's topic in Technical Assistance
Sounds like a defective disc. I remember preordering F1 2017 and when it turned up on release day I stuck it in the PS4 and had a corrupted disc that it couldn’t read. Ended up returning it and just buying it from a local store the next morning and had no issues with the second copy. only things I could suggest is deleting and reinstalling (pretty sure it keeps your save data) or possibly do a database rebuild on your PS4 which will fix any corrupted data. Hope that helps -
Personally think they should incorporate pre-season testing in the game and have you do a short session at Barcelona where you can do a “quali mode simulation” similar to in the practice sessions of a race weekend but have the game take your best lap and automatically suggest a difficulty setting based on that best lap time. Of course also allow the player to tweak the setting themselves too but have it as a way of automatically suggesting a difficulty setting prior to starting the season in Australia. another use you could do with incorporating pre-season testing would be to discover what the cars weakest aspects are before you start investing R&D points. ie based on your lap runs you could have the R&D guy come back to you with a report that identifies which parts need work such as Chassis or Reliability etc.

For anyone using the G29, I asked David Greco for some tips for setting the Force Feedback and he got back to me. Here’s what he said... “I use default FFB but 50% strength on the Logitech. Also, I use throttle linearity around 20% and 360 to 400 degrees rotation, depending on track. If it is too sensitive, use 400, otherwise 360 is a 1 to 1 ratio with the ingame wheel.” Hope this helps.

PETITION: OFFICIAL TV GRAPHICS FOR F1 2019
stephensmattlee replied to AllenB2609's topic in General Discussion
I don’t think we’ll see the full TV style hud for gameplay, more a reworked version of Codemasters own one that “kind of” replicates the official style, but remains quite minimal. I’m guessing for replays and the post race results screen it will be a lot more closer to the official tv style though. -
DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games
stephensmattlee replied to MastaVonBlasta's topic in DiRT Rally 2.0
Wouldn’t be surprised if this were true. I know a year or two ago they had a segment with Project Cars 2 where Ortis used the game to practice laps at Brands Hatch and then put it into practice in the real car on the circuit -

What’s the betting they have a beta period or early access over the next few months to find-tune things before the release? ;) -
DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games
stephensmattlee replied to MastaVonBlasta's topic in DiRT Rally 2.0
Correct, but they created stages over the three titles and reused many parts. I think those were the oldest ones (UK was also really bad), but the newer ones were the likes of Mexico, Germany and Polabd, which were excellent. I really don't get why though, they must have noticed the positive feedback they received for WRC7 and I believe it sold much better (on Steam, so maybe not on console) than the others - it's like they took a conscious decision to cut out all the progress they'd made since WRC5. Not sure how accurate vgchartz is in terms of the sales figures but they have WRC 7 at 40,000 copies compared to WRC 6 having 80,000 copies sold on PS4 :/ Add an extra “0” on the end of WRC 7s sales figure and that’s what they have DiRT Rally at based on PS4 figures alone -

Good god, he must be slightly mad!! Haha, my guess is he could be appointed to help make their rumoured Fast & Furious game ;) Either way I hope he can help them with development on the PS4 and console side of things. Was appalled at the state of Project Cars 2 when it first released on PS4, was like they’d outsourced it to another company to make a port of the PC version but did a right hash job of it, granted its in a much better state now after numerous patches -

Was hoping Codemasters had gained the licence to the official WRC series but I’m still very excited to see what DiRT Rally 2.0 brings :) -

I do think a closed beta or even open access again would be a good move for Codemasters. Does give the fans the opportunity to contribute to the final product, makes sense as they would be the ones buying the game too :) -

stephensmattlee replied to MastaVonBlasta's topic in DiRT Rally 2.0
Question for everyone .... Should Codemasters do an extensive ‘handling’ beta for the next DiRT/WRC?/Rally game? Basically where they do a whole beta for the future game focused purely on the handling of all the cars getting extensive feedback from fans of the series. -
DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games
stephensmattlee replied to MastaVonBlasta's topic in DiRT Rally 2.0
Not sure how accurate the sales figures are on vgchartz.com, but it looks like WRC 7 sold just 0.03 million copies according to their stats, whereas DiRT Rally sold 0.51m and DiRT 4 sold 0.45m all on the same platform. Like I say I’m not sure how accurate those figures are but does make sense that the suits in charge might have considered giving another developer a go at seeing what they could do :) -

DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games
stephensmattlee replied to MastaVonBlasta's topic in DiRT Rally 2.0
True, but isn’t that what Codemasters have been doing for nearly 8 years of F1 games? And yet they still people criticising the handling as ‘sim-cade’? Must admit though that when with no traction control, abs or any kind of braking or cornering assists the games are still quite easy even with a controller. I’m curious to know if players of DiRT Rally that use just a controller prefferred the handling model of DiRT Rally or DiRT 4? -
DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games
stephensmattlee replied to MastaVonBlasta's topic in DiRT Rally 2.0
You can have like in D4 two different physics, just leave arcade physics like they were in DiRT4 and tweak Sim physics a bit (R5's and R2's are good in my opinion) This would easily be the best way Codemasters could go, not just with the DiRT games but also their F1 games too. Seems like all of their games have two types of fans; the “casual” player that’s after a fun and enjoyable experience using nothing more than a gamepad controller, ...and also the more “hardcore” fan that longs for as realistic an experience as possible using a wheel and pedal set up. I’m no expert in game coding but would it be even possible to have vastly different handling models in the one game? Or does there have to be a middleground where they have to focus more on one or the other? -
DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games
stephensmattlee replied to MastaVonBlasta's topic in DiRT Rally 2.0
I think that is a rather restricted view of the subject, I would think any comparison would have to look at a wider interest in rallycross versus rally: both disciplines are more than just a World Championship and, globally, rally surely has the biggest following. That said, the percentage of rallycross viewers who regularly play games might be a very different statistic given the audience that rallycross - specifically World Rallycross - seem to be targeting. If you have a larger pool of fans, it seems logical that the percentage of those who are gamers will also be larger. True, there's more to rally and rallycross than their respective world championships, but those major championships are the ones most likely to be followed, so I think it's fair to use them as a metric for how much attention the sport gathers. If you're going to analyze how many people watch open-wheel, you're not going to use Formula 3 as your basis, are you? Can you tell me where you see this mobile game? I'm just curious. I've seen apps for PCARS 2, but not a game. Something is definitely cooking and, as a fan of things, rally related, that Codemasters does, I can't wait to find out what's in store. Eurogamer. F1 was not announced on Eurogamer either (usually is). Pretty low-key. Thanks. Just found it. But PCARS GO as the name? Seriously? More simulation I'd say. Kylotton's games were getting more hardcore and got more positive reviews as they went on. Very interesting, personally I hope they do too, but I guess sales figures will probably mean more to Codemasters and the big suits in charge (FIA?) than critics reviews which could influence the future direction of the games
