    Colin McRae DiRT

Man, That brings back so many memories. I can't find my PC copy but I still have my xbox 360 version, I should go play it upstairs on my big 65" plasma tele.

Thanks. I just did a quick add up of everything on my rig and you really don't want to know :) Somewhere just north of $15,000 USD all up. Anyway, here is another video on my horribly expensive rig. Dirt 2, China, Trailblazer Yu Yong A & B  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6uBNMo-K3Os

Thanks. I did tons of work on my '75 Avenger. I swapped over all my suspension from my rally car and it has a hotted up 1500 with dual dellorto sidedraft carbs. I also put a 5 speed sierra box in it. All the fiberglass is custom made, I have a fiberglass boot, bonnet, chin spoiler and flares. The Avengers are only 850kg stock so with all the fiberglass it is pretty light and agile. They make great rally cars. I run the Avenger forum in New Zealand so I have a full build thread over there. http://www.avenger.co.nz/forum/index.php?topic=13.0 Here is a video of it on the dyno. 86.8hp and 82.8 lbf-ft of torque at the wheels. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=984EqYJx0Uw

Yes! More Escorts, and a Hillman Avenger :) There has never been one of those in any racing game so you would be breaking new ground. But seriously, more RWD 70's rally cars.

Repost of my video from the other thread. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nddc1hnzHWo And there is Hairpin run from Dirt 2 at the 5:40 mark. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NYO5RknUUG4 I will be doing tons more dirt 2 videos so I will post them up. Dirt 2 is so much fun on my rig, I have 8 audio transducers (Buttkicker bass shakers) on my rig which is running through a program called Simvibe which takes the telemetry data from the game and translates it in to vibration so you can feel every stone and bump. It will be totally next level when my motion setup arrives.

Yeah that makes perfect sense making a separate thread, the other one was getting a bit off topic. Thanks. That Celica was one of my favourite cars in Dirt 1. It was really awesome to see a New Zealand car in a rally sim. Dirt 1 had an amazing car list, the Tunrda was also there. I used to love the Hillclimb Unlimited class in Dirt 1, I pretty much loved all of the cars in that class, The Suzuki Escudo was amazing. We used to have a New Zealand hillclimb called the Silverstone Race to the Sky, which was like the New Zealand version of Pikes Peak, and Monster Tajima in the Suzuki Escudo and Rod Millen in the Toyota Tundra would battle it out each year. Sadly one of New Zealand's greatest rally stars, Possum Bourne was killed in an accident during the recce run in the 2003 Race to the Sky. the event continued for another 5 years but stopped in 2007. I would love to see more of that kind of hillclimbs in Dirt 4. I used to do a lot of hillclimbs myself and it is a very fun form of rally. Anyway back to the pictures. This here is the proper way to take a corner in a Group B rally car :) Ass hanging out and at full opposite lock.

Here is my website. http://www.rpmphotography.co.nz/ I haven't been out to that many rallies lately, I need to get out more often. Here are a few cars that have been featured in the Dirt series of games. Rod Millen's Pike Peak Celica Rod Millen's Tundra Group B Audi Quarto S1 Buggies! Escorts Hillclimb cars. My Cars :) My 1975 Hillman Avenger My 1972 Chrysler Valiant Charger And lastly my 1980 Chrysler Avenger rally car. (You can see where my forum name comes from, I used the number 76 because that was the year Andrew Cowan won the Rally of New Zealand in a Hillman Avenger)

DiRT Forum Competition - The Setup

Wow that's awesome, that's a few rally drivers we have on the forums now, we'll be able to set up our own real world event at this rate! Yes that would be very cool. but for now virtual rallying will have to do. I can't wait till my V8 rally car is ready. I really miss rallying and New Zealand is such an awesome place to rally, we have a really big rally community over here. I would love to go over and check out some of the European rallies. They look real fun.

DiRT Forum Competition - The Setup

Thanks, The gauges are mounted directly to my rig using some custom fabricated mounts. I use a Symproject Pro-Gauge to run my gauges and Fanaleds to run my little rally timing computer in the middle. I am just about to add motion to my rig. I got the same place that builds my rally cars to build my rig. I am a huge rally fan so I do like my rally sims. I owned every Colin McRae game for the PC and all the Dirt games for both PC and Xbox. I remember going to LAN parties back in the day and kicking everyones ass at Colin McRae 2 in a MK2 Escort. CMR1 was one of the main reason I got in to rallying in the real world, it even had New Zealand stages. I rallied a Hillman Avenger (very similar to a Ford Escort) from 2000-2006 in New Zealand, and now I do motorsport photography. I am in the process of building a new rally car, a V8 Hillman Avenger. So yeah I am super keen to get in to this rally comp, and I can't wait for Dirt 4.

DiRT Forum Competition - The Setup

I have Dirt 2, Dirt 3 and showdown on the PC but I prefer Dirt 2 because Dirt 3 and showdown have a bug which crashes the game after a race if you have motion or telemetry turned on. I am really keen and would love to team up with someone. Here is a video of my rally skills. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nddc1hnzHWo

Telemetry and motion support. I run a lot of external gauges and a dash on my rig so telemetry output is very important to me. I am also about to add motion to my rig in the form of a SimXperience GS-4 seat. And also make sure you keep the support for analog handbrakes. Dirt 3 and Dirt Showdown has a bug which means it crashes after each race if you have telemetry or motion enabled so I do most my rally driving in Dirt 2. Here is a video of my rig so you can see my gauge setup. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nddc1hnzHWo
