  1. Having a extra rally game is awesome as it's good for anyone loving rally. WRC7 can be improved in many ways and so it does Dirt Rally 2, so I hope we see a step forward in WRC8. For me I see the two games as:

    Dirt Rally 2:

    - Physics (they are not close to real life, but they are fun and that's important in any game).

    - Collisions.

    - Good graphics.

    - VR Support.

    - WRX even though for people like me who likes pure rally is something it could be removed, but it's a positive.

    - Great stages but low amount.

    - Bad performance.

    - Good selection of cars including historical ones.

    - Price is too high.

    - Meh career mode.

    - Hype based experience (no demo).

    - Crappy DLC system, online requirement, bugs and also a few more bugs.

    WRC8 (based on 7):

    - Meh physics (as far as Dirt Rally from real life but less fun to drive).

    - Collisions feel more like bouncing.

    - Great graphics.

    - No VR Support.

    - Clean focus rally experience, you and the road, nothing else.

    - Awesome stages and multiple countries (a step ahead Dirt Rally) but some of them need improvement.

    - Bad performance.

    - Official rally cars, if they add old ones then awesome.

    - Fair price.

    - Meh career mode.

    - Experience based hope (no demo).

    - No DLC based, no online requirement and they fix bugs quicker (some of them).

Thursday for our first WRC 8 livestream!

Yay! Nice the developers will be answering questions. A few years back there was an article where one of the devs was explaining how the stages were created, even explaining technicallities. I hope is not a hyped marketing chat.

    Bit of gossip? From: http://blog.codemasters.com/community/03/celebrating-the-women-behind-our-games-for-iwd2019-meet-mandy/

"I’m currently trying to arrange for a car to be scanned that is going to be in one of our DiRT Rally 2.0 service updates – however this car is stuck to a wall in a museum somewhere, so it’s going to be a fun job for the Vehicle Art team!"

Anyone know of any wall-mounted rally cars?! The article also gives some insight into how "fun" licensing even logos is...

I am calm, do you see me agitated? thanks

To be honest this forum seem to be as buggy as the game. Why some comments are listed in Spanish, Italian or French? So I might have misunderstood you.

DLC ,first season ! 90% pay old contents , nice politics. the people out of this forum are ****** off.

Calm down! It's as simple as not buying the game, money is what hurts the guys taking the business decisions about Codemasters games.

  6. Yay! Awesome! Nice to see they take time to remaster an impresive game like Dirt Rally. Any chances this can bring DLCs to the owners of the original one? Maybe cross game play? I can wait to play in rainny Greece!

  7. Codemasters should react faster. Everyone knows how game reviews work now adays and how easy an idea spread. The game can have potential, but with all the problems the game have they have done nothing for 2 weeks, and that's a lot of time. They could at least explain the plan and release small fixes, they have gone quiet as in Dirt 4.

Im sure the next thing will be: they have been working hard, much more to come, etc, etc. It's sad, but it looks like another game that will die early. You can not just base your game and player base on hype. And after all is a £70 game, that's an expensive one, people have rights to want a Deluxe support.

That RaceNet thing is really keeping cheaters at bay, eh?

And... here they are. So Codemasters customers are angry and Codemaster cheaters happy as always. I don't know what kind of verification the sever does (it would be helpful if they could explain it so we can make recommendations). But the always online does not add any extra layer of security apart from hanging a server even more (hence the connection problems).

  9. Is it possible to play online without AI? If there are 5 cars they get split into different races with AI in them, so you end up playing just with AI most of the time? Same on rally stages?

No, this really is about the person with a console in 2019 not having an internet connection and not realising they're not going to have access to everything in the game without one.

Plenty of the game is available without a net connection, you're pretty blind to expect a 2019 game not to want some kind of net connection for at least part of it these days.

All games in gog.com don't force you to have a connection. But maybe that's an edge case because that the company philoshy. But think a out Project Cars, Dirt Rally, Dirt 4, etc. If you want to use specific o line modes then you need a connection, those were you play with more people. But a career mode with online requirement breaks the game. Again I add the NBA 2K example, were you can not even see career videos if you don't have a connection.

do usb-tethering:   i don't really think it will waste very much of your dataplan

Maybe Windows 10 decides to auto update and the data plan is gone.

I can not really see a reason for the Internet requirement. If it's to verify times, then generate a token after each career event, send it to the server and if the connection can not be stablished store it to send it later or just don't save it remotely.

For me the problem is that you depend on Codemasters maintening their server in the future to play that part of the game.

It's fine for some people to think we have great connections. But depending on the country or area that's not true. Also some people travels and maybe they don't have an Internet connection during the weekend.

Probably must people can connect to the Internet somehow if they need to. But why are the adding that level of frustration if you don't have a connection? I never play online because I just want to play for 45 minutes or an hour and then do something else.

And yes it's cool saying, then don't buy the game, do tethering, etc, but they should think about their customers a bit more.

And because this thread is about gossip maybe the Internet requirement is to find the next Colin and offer that person a WRC.

That’s no excuses for swearing. It’s just a game after all. It’s not a matter of life or death.

I don't think he was disrespectful and I don't think it was about her. He just got annoyed about the fact of the no offline career.

These things need to be clear before launch so people can be mindful about what they are buying. As you said its a game, but costs money.

But anyway, I hope at least people will enjoy it besides these mistakes (which I hope they fix after our feedback).

We all love @xtinamcgrath and I agree we should always be respectful. She just do her job, but at the end of the day if the face of Codemasters.

Hey folks, an answer on Career Mode - you do need to be online for the My Team campaign. There are a few different reasons why, but the main one is so your results can be verified by the server. Essentially, it's to ensure that we don't have any hacking/cheating shenanigans. Hope that helps clarify things!

    #NoOfflineNoBuy

If in a couple of years you shut down the severs there is no option to play My Team. This is looking like NBA 2k17+. Please add payments with real money so we can improve the cars a bit more or get a new haircut for the driver.

As a programmer it must be super annoying having to code all those things when you just want people to enjoy the game. Who makes these decisions?

Did you have an answer ? Thanks

I don't expect an answer to be honest. We will be able to ask someone without a free copy tomorrow, so honest opinions will be landing.

I hope it's not like GT Sport, I mean why would you need to be online to save single player progress? In every other Codemasters game there's no need for an Internet connection to save career...

Yes I have a rubbish connection, in case you were wondering. There's a reason I always buy physical copies

With Dirt 4 I bought the Day one edition because of that. And I still had to download 26gb to be able to play for the first time.

Didn't you agree the DLC pricing options during your three years of beta testing? Missed opportunity there.

Just "Brum, brum!" (tm). If I would have a chance to make any business decission the strategy would be really different.

I'm really hoping that we can get, before launch, some info about the DLC:

    a) how will it integrate into the main career mode and multiplayer modes of the game? Will it be used in Career but not Historic Championships (which makes sense) and how will a server work when rotating through a stage list and not all content is owned by all players.
    b) what are the prices for individual pieces of content and/or individual season passes. I'd much prefer to buy each Season Pass as it comes out, rather than two together at the start, but would ideally like to know the price first.

    Thanks!

I think Codemasters confirmed that the information will be available after launch. I'm waiting to for all that to be confirmed, priced and explained. So a bit of patience worth it, you will for sure buy it at a fair price too. I think they are pushing the hype as much as they can so more people pay full price blindness, hence the lack of information.

I really hope they have not turn the game into pay-to-win (pay-to-play-online in this case).

Ha, you'll need to bargain with Polyphony to make that happen!

As already said in the posts above I think our expectations have to reflect the fact that Codemasters is a relatively small studio when compared to some to others producing racing games.

There has always been a huge shopping list of extra content that we wanted, DR2.0 looks to be getting more post-release than any other CM title thus far, so that definitely seems like a step forward.

You said yesterday that you have been playing the beta for three years @CodingRacer, is there no difficulty selection in the beta?

Some options were disabled like the terrain deformation and new cars. My testing was mainly about the new countries (Germany, Montecarlo and Sweden). I'm glad to know the slider is finally making it into the game.

When is the DLC 2 going to be announced. I'm planning to buy the game by summer.
