DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

Yes that's true, it was my 2nd visit which I am even more grateful for. I believe another forum member has also visited the studios, but I will leave it up to them whether they make it public knowledge or not ;) Wasn't that Petter Solberg? :p  #DiRTygossip

Nha, i have been there too and i am still here ;-)  Atleast Codemasters wont show everything ;-) Anyway quick offtopic; Amazing footage from Kevin Abbring and Sebastian Marshall in the FIA ERC Rallye International du Valais  This was SS13 and they where the fastest, As u can see the stage isnt longer then 3 min, and they wont go faster then 140 km/h Beside that i think its an amazing stage! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eTxvpEk3zxo

DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

With @Kick_up and @Jontucker into rallying I think it is already 100% sure that the focus wont be only at Rallycross, Although a combination of Rallycross ( offical championship), stage rallying championship ( perhaps ERC championship?) and hill climb would be more realistic and it will make a game more diverse, and for a wide audience who are all rally minded. Because after all, Hillclimb cars, Rallycross cars are mainly build as rallycar, but modified. In other words, the basic of those 3 sports is rally. ( as u can see for example the Ford RS200 is used in all 3 sports, but was build as Group B Rallycar. ( same for many other cars) Beside that If u take the focus away from just stage rally or just rallycross, a much wider audience will buy it = more sales. I do think that's not a bad idea, although I would rather see a rally/ rallycross game , just those 2 discipline but that's just my opinion. Although I think it doesn't really mather as long as their is a good/ long career online/ offline game play. As I described in http://forums.codemasters.com/discussion/43/idea-wrc-ultimate-rallyteam-explained/p1 If u will make that gameplay good, with ( what codemasters is already spoiling) a good build realistic gameplay, in combination with dlc's and new tracks/ rallies , u can make this game live for ages, instead one peak at the beginning sales. I think that's also the key to those successful games these days, to make one good game for a long time playingtime + fun instead of short gameplay over and over.

Found an other rumor: Nick Roberts goes to rallycross, and will be in the the Red Bull Global Rallycross event in Las Vegas. Also at their Facebook biography Nick wrote: Nick Roberts is the Nick Roberts Global Rally Teams driver/team owner 2014 marks only his second season competing the the Rally America Championship. Nick Roberts got into rally after many years of playing Dirt 1 and Dirt 2 and then just decided to follow his rally passion. In his Rookie season he took 3rd in the SP championship and Rookie of the Year. Could this be a link for the 2015 game from Codemasters? Btw his livery rocks,.... I might be thinking to steal it somehow for my rally car

Will Codemasters be at the WRC Wales rally GB? With the entry of Steve Perez in a Lancia Statos at the nationals. And ofcourse with their presence last year, rumors could go all the way!

Disagree with that. Definitely need car settings in the next game. The cars are much more driveable with a custom set up on. Particularly the gear ratios.  I agree with u @rallycameraman settings are very important also for the rallysport,.. for example the technical choice to take wet tires or dry tires can make a very big difference at the grip level in a rally when it start to rain. Same is for gear ratios, stages with long fast roads, u need a high ratio, what will result in a high speed, But with many corners a short ratio is the best, because u need the acceleration out of the corners, not the high speed. Same is for suspension ( on gravel roads or tarmac),.... The setup ( and parts) of a rallycar is for 60% the key to a fast stage time, ( Other 30% is good pacenotes/stage information, other 10% is courage from the driver and luck)

    Idea WRC Ultimate rallyteam explained

With an opening day on gravel and the next two on asphalt, cars at RallyRACC Rally de España (23-26 October) will have to be rebuilt on Friday night. And to keep the pressure on, teams have just 75 minutes to get the job done. M-Sport engineer Tim Jackson will be supervising the transformation of Ken Block’s Fiesta RS in Spain. He told wrc.com how his team would squeeze the work in: 0-15 minutes “The car will have driven six stages on Friday, so when it comes in we’ll do the usual checks, look at the data and note any issues the driver has reported. Minor damage isn’t a problem because we will replace most of the parts anyway. We take off the gravel components as quickly as possible, including front and rear crossmembers, steering rack, gearbox, rear diff and all suspension and brakes. We can have eight people working at once because we are allowed to stagger service times. After 15 minutes everything is off and the car looks quite bare.” 15-30 minutes “Now we are ready to fit the asphalt parts. The most important thing here is preparation; it’s essential to get a head start. All the components are already laid out, mostly as sub-assemblies that have been put together in our workshop in the UK. The rear crossmember is the brace for the suspension and is pre-fitted with the asphalt-spec diff, suspension links, uprights and even the dampers. We fit the whole unit in one piece and secure it with eight bolts. The front is similar but includes a steering rack and steering arms pre-adjusted to give the correct asphalt geometry.” 30-40 minutes “Most of the rear of the car will be back on by now - certainly the crossmember and rear diff. While that’s going on, the guys at the front are doing engine checks and other routine servicing.” 40-50 minutes “The gearbox is in now, and that contains the front diff. These and the rear diff are a different specification to the gravel units because of the car's speed, grip and wheelspin characteristics on asphalt roads.” 50-60 minutes “The suspension and brakes will be fitted. The brake discs are bigger, up from 300mm to 355mm diameter all round, and fitted with water-cooled calipers. The whole system needs to be bled. Asphalt dampers are bolted on and it’s starting to look like a car again.” 60 minutes  “All the major work should be done. Now we work around the car to check geometry, ride height and camber settings. These are different because the car runs about 60mm lower in asphalt specification. Usually it’s just a case of fine-tuning, because we have already adjusted the components in a controlled environment at M-Sport. Then we weigh the car to check we are not under weight. In general, gravel components are stronger and heavier than the asphalt versions, and that goes for wheels and tyres too. We’ll add ballast if necessary.” 65 minutes “If everything goes to plan the car should be on its wheels and ready to go at 65 minutes. That gives us 10 minutes of contingency time just in case...” Article from WRC.com

DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

That's not the same rally that Solberg, Meeke and Yves Matton are all doing is it?! Hope you don't have to choose between that and some DiRTY previews! The Condroz rally is at the same date, but its in Belgium, only I will compete in a Dutch Rally ( Conrad Euregio rally) because of the Dutch Rally championship I have to, although many dutch rally drivers will go to Belgium (the Condroz Rally)  to compete overthere,... I will compete the Euregio rally with a Belgian co-driver, preparing for my 2015 rally campaign Next year u can find me in the big Belgium rallies as East Belgium Rally, Condroz rally Yper etc etc And perhaps an UK rally :D

@justbiglee count me in,.. probally a Friday would fit better for me, in that case I can/will plan a 2 of 3 day trip to Southam so i can stay in the weekend around  Birmingham ( instead of a 1 day rush again) Have to admit that i do have a rally the 1ste and 2nd of November,.. so one week later would fit better for me.

Perhaps a price / award for the fastest legal driver,1 year after the launch, driving without aids, an award to drive a real rally car? at David Higgins rally school ( Forest Experience Rally School) I think thats the ultimate reward/ price for a racing gamer!, I remember that there was a really fast guy in the game "iracing" a Finish guy who never drove a car, and he was the fastest driver on almost every track, they invited that guy to the states to drive a real race car, There is an youtube video from it, but I couldnt find the youtube link anymore.

Hope that wasn't an expensive ditch detour! Fortunately not, only cost us time! Took me and about fifteen or so spectators 10 minutes to pull it out! Speaking of ditches, that is a thing i'd like to see feature on some stages of the next DiRT, there's never really been anything substantial that you could get your car properly stuck in. RBR had the feature where if you were stuck you could call spectators to come and help you out, which would cost you time, a nice little feature. Yhea that was a good feature in RBR, I really liked the first GB stage in RBR, it was challenging with the ditches, and fast flowing stages, it really gave me the GB rally of Wales feeling!

DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

I saw some comments relating to Petter on Facebook and thought it was just Facebook nonsense, I have subsequently seen it mentioned on a few rally forums, so perhaps there is some merit in it. I'm split on the return of Solberg. It would be great to see him back in the WRC again but, as a massive rallycross fan his arrival has, for me, been the best thing to happen to the sport in the last couple of years.  Perhaps more importantly, I would be concerned that now he has dropped "out of the groove" of WRC, whether he would be on the pace if he came back. Post some proper information and I'm sure you'll get a few back. ;) I think Solberg first mission is to win the World RallyCross Championship ;-) that will make him legend again! And yes i do doubt if he can follow the pace of Ogier or other fast raising talents like Keving Abbring and Stéphane Lefebvre :
