  1. Keep every location from Dirt Rally and Dirt Rally 2.0, but add Kenya, Italy, Portugal, Cyprus, Corsica and another. Maybe Mexico, Turkey, Jordan or Japan? I'd like an option to be able to turn off a location. I'm awful on Poland, so I'd like to be able to replace it with one of the DLC locations I've got. I abandon a championship with Poland in it, but it would be more convenient to be able to take it off the rotation.

    American English Co Driver

Who should Codemasters hire? Cletus Spuckler?
  3. Could Dirt Rally 3.0 be the last of the Dirt Rally series before the start of the WRC deal? I can't imagine the FIA would want another rally game made by Codemasters out at the same time as the official one. As we've seen with the F1 games, the owners of the product have tight control over it and I'd expect it to be no different with the WRC games.

    Good setup for Monte Carlo?

I downloaded Monte Carlo today and have done a few stages with the Lancia Group A car, as I'm using it in career. I left the setups on default as I wasn't really sure about what I should change because of the mixture of surfaces. I use quite a stable setup on Spain in whatever car I use as they all seem to slide around too much. Will this sort of setup work on the ice and snow of Monte Carlo? Any general setup tips for Monte Carlo and/or specific tips for the Lancia are welcome.

USA - Circuit Of The Americas

It's one of my fastest, although I don't enjoy it as much as some tracks and it's by no means the worst. I don't particularly like the section between the long straight and the three turn right hander of turns 16 17 and 18. Turns 13 and 14 could be got rid of so we'd be left with a slightly longer straight into a wider right hander then into the three turn right hander.

    Beginner guide

Unfortunately I don't know of any beginner guides, but I'm sure there are some around. With regards to the difficulty, you should probably turn it up. I started with Alfa Romeo and aimed to occasionally finish in the top 10. I did this 12 times, but I probably had the difficulty too low. Just after the halfway point of the season, my car was 5th in the performance ranking, so that probably played a part in getting decent results. It dropped to 7th by the end of the season as I saved resource points for the regulation change. Alfa Romeo are ranked 8th at the start of career, so to make it a bit more realistic maybe find a difficulty that allows you to finish above 15th in most races but not regularly in the top 10. That way you should get a good balance between it being fun and challenging. It will feel like an achievement when you do get in the top 10.

    Wheel x controller

I play with a controller, but have only tried a wheel a couple of times. I'm not able to fix down a wheel, so it's not possible to play with one. I'm fine with using a controller though. I find some circuits harder on my hands than others, but I tend to grip the controller to tight anyway, so that obviously doesn't help. I tried it without traction control and ABS, but I couldn't get the hang of it as the triggers go from 0 to 100 quite quickly. I play with medium traction control but find it a bit too easy. A 'low' setting would be great. My biggest gripe with using a controller is the Monaco hairpin. I've tried different speeds and lines, but I'm always slow on it.

Dan Ticktum starts own F1 Team

The problem with the My Team part of the career starting part way through the lack of time people have. I know everyone's situation is different, but I've only been able to play my F1 2019 career for a total of four seasons because I'm not at work for five days a week due to Covid-19. When I was at work, it took me half a year to play two seasons, but it's taken me two months to complete two. When I go back to work and can only play F1 2020 career for two seasons, I want to spend them in charge of my own team, not waiting around for season five to roll up so I can create my team. Anyway, if starting your own team at the start of your career is unrealistic, why is it more realistic to start one halfway through your career? Drivers don't start their own teams nowadays!

Can the formula 1 game have two versions?

Isn't each iteration the official game of that year's Formula One World Championship? Wouldn't they have to licence every car from every year over and over, reaching agreements with constructors and sponsors?

Can the formula 1 game have two versions?

It would be interesting to get a breakdown of how many of the players of F1 2019 would like a sim version of future releases and how many would like just one and for it to have the same sort of handling as it currently has. Even without doing a compulsory survey to get a truly representative picture of what people want, why would Codemasters produce another version of the same game when they have a deadline for just one version? They'll already have all sorts of stats about who plays the game and how, so even if they were to just go by the numbers of controller and wheel players, they would know what market to focus on. Imagine producing a sim version of the game just to satisfy what I would guess is a small percentage of players. Even then, there would still be sim players would wouldn't be happy with it!
  16. After a regulation change in my fourth season, all power unit, aerodynamic and chassis upgrades need adapting. There hasn't been a regulation change since season one, but I would have expected the parts saved in that season to be untouched by the new regulations in the current season, even though I was at a different team. When I moved from Alfa Romeo to Ferrari at the end of season one, there were already quite a few upgrades in place at Ferrari, so I assume that they had adapted their parts. If they had done so, why would the upgrades that I didn't purchase need adapting now?

    Ricciardo to Mclaren

It's a great move for Ricciardo and McLaren. With Mercedes engines they should be quicker than Renault next year. Sainz will be number 2 for 2021, but could become number 1 if he's quicker, just as Leclerc did.

    AI team performance seems unreal

The problem is that because the likes of Williams, McLaren and Racing Point can upgrade for longer, they can keep going and end up better than Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull. In my career, Racing Point had the best car for about a season and a quarter worth of races (split between two seasons) and as I am at Ferrari and had bought a lot of upgrades by then, I had to spend more points and couldn't upgrade as fast. If the number of upgrades a team can use was dependent on where they started in the performance ranking, midfield teams would be good for a while, but drop off after maxing out their cars.

Teammate became faster in Career Mode ???

I've had an email on the game to say that there will be a regulation change for the next season. No details about which department(s) but if it affects aero, will the boost my teammate has go away when the final aero upgrade I put on this season is removed?
  21. This is probably one of the most important parts of the game mode and I hope they don't have the generic liveries like on F1 2019. Livery design and sponsors were good on Race Driver: Grid. For anyone that didn't play it or can't remember it, you could pick the colours pattern you wanted on the car and there were plenty to choose from. With the sponsors, you had a 'major' sponsor and several 'minor' sponsors. You could change their positions and although these were preset slots, there were several available so you could experiment with where you wanted each one. I'd like to be able to place the sponsors in exact positions, like on Forza. Sponsor slots could include: side pods major, side pods minor, engine cover major, engine cover minor 1, engine cover minor 2, front wing major, front wing minor, front wing endplates, nose 1, nose 2, nose 3, nose 4, nose 5, rear wing front, rear wing back. You should be able to move these around in a defined space for each slot though.

Teammate became faster in Career Mode ???

This has definitely happened in my career. I've just done the French Grand Prix, which is usually one of my better races, but I finished 2nd and was nearly seven seconds behind Leclerc. I was three seconds ahead of Perez and found it rather easy to overtake him after the pitstops, whereas this wouldn't have been the case before I fully upgraded, as the Racing Point was just as a good as my Ferrari. I had the difficulty on 70 for the French GP as I struggled to match Leclerc in Q1 and Q2. I was 0.2 seconds behind him in Q3, but I really had to push. In the same race in the previous season, I had the difficulty on 73 and won the race after overtaking Leclerc on the penultimate lap. Leclerc is 19 points ahead of me in the standings, so in order to have any sort of battle with him for the title I'll have to turn down the difficulty. Going by previous posts, the other AI will be terrible as a result.

Teammate became faster in Career Mode ???

When the other teams start to overtake me in the performance chart, will they start to close the gap on track, or does this issue mean that I'll be overpowered forever?

Teammate became faster in Career Mode ???

I've just read this thread and thinking this will start happening to me. I'm on my fourth season of my career and in my third season at Ferrari. The car was nearly fully upgraded at the end of the third season, but the Racing Point was just a bit better. I won the title and finished five points ahead of Leclerc in the other Ferrari. Perez in the Racing Point was also close to me, on the track and in the standings. A few days ago, I bought the final aero upgrade and once that has been completed, my car will be fully upgraded with the exception of reliability. I think I had something like this issue happen in the last race in Spain though. I had the difficulty on 70 (Spain is one of my weakest tracks, but I usually have it somewhere between 71 and 75). I qualified 5th, but found it a bit too easy to get into 3rd. Vettel in the Mercedes and Perez were slower than they had been in previous races. It only took me two laps to overtake both of them and I was then behind both of them after the pit stop, but overtook them on the next lap. Verstappen was on pole and won the race. I couldn't catch Leclerc and was a couple of seconds behind him. He retired with a mechanical failure, but I wouldn't have caught him as he was too quick. Not 1-2 seconds a lap quicker, but still too quick for me. My worry is that now I'll have a fully upgraded car, Leclerc will always be 1-2 seconds quicker and that if I turn down the AI, none of the others will keep up with me. If the upgrade fails, should I just not bother buying it?
