(Suggestion) Option to adjust brightness of the Ideal Racing line in F1 2020
WestHam66 replied to CAL1BER's topic in General Discussion
I'd like to be able to increase the brightness or change the colour, as there are a few corners that are difficult to see the line on when the sun is bright. The line is almost impossible to see at turn one at Austria when the sun reflects off the tarmac, so I have to guess my braking point. I've learned where to brake if this happens, but it can be tricky on a qualifying lap. -
It's just a shame you can't delete a non-DLC location from DR2, as I'd get rid of Spain! I imagine plenty of others would too!

Difficulty difference between qualifying and race
WestHam66 replied to pacers101's topic in General Discussion
I have to increase it by 1 for races. Strangely, the AI is at that level before the pit stop (I do 25% races) but slower after it. If I'm in first place I sometimes find myself way out in front at the end of a race and without any AI trying to overtake me for several laps. -
Car performance values would be the easiest thing to implement, as it would just require numbers to be decided for each thing. There are bar charts in career mode for R&D so I don't see how it would be difficult for this to be put in place in other game modes. Driver performance values would need more work, as there would have to be a way of implementing it on track e.g. if an AI driver's overtaking rating is 80/100, how would that work when going wheel to wheel with a player? Obviously, the ratings that the player's driver would be redundant as the human player has full control (unlike on FIFA where a particular player's shooting ability should still have an effect on whether they'll score or not, even if the human player is really accurate). Player ratings systems have existed on all other sports games for decades, so I'm not sure why it's not been on recent F1 games. If Codemasters had implemented it from the start, they'd have ten years of knowledge and data to use.

I'm glad someone else thinks Perez is overpowered. I'm in the third season of my career and he's second in the standings. He also came third in season two. Racing Point have the best car, but Ricciardo isn't great. Hamilton and Vettel aren't particularly good either. Verstappen is pretty good though. There needs to be a driver rating system in F1 2020, even if it's only in My Team. We need to see how good or bad a driver is before hiring them, especially if they're made up.

I'm in my third season of career and with driver transfers over the course of the game, Norris, Kvyat and Kubica have disappeared. Do drivers who have been replaced return to career? I wouldn't expect Kubica to return, but could Norris and Kvyat be back?
-
Kubica is back! He's replaced Gasly at Alfa Romeo and Gasly is now at Williams, with Russell out.

List your 5 most recent enjoyed racing games
WestHam66 replied to sloppysmusic's topic in General Discussion
All on Xbox One F1 2019 - I'm playing it at the moment. Probably my favourite F1 game. IMO the AI are the best they've been in a Codemasters game. Dirt Rally 2.0 - no matter how frustrating it can be, it's a brilliant game. Dirt Rally - ditto. I prefer it to DR 2.0. Project Cars 2 - brilliant selection of tracks and cars. Seems to get the mixture of being fun and challenging just right. Forza Horizon 2 - brilliant open world in a great location. Good choice of cars and things to do. -
Weber replaced Kubica and Butler replaced Kvyat at the start. Butler then moved to McLaren at the start of season two, Sainz moved to Alfa Romeo and Raikkonen replaced him to make a not-so-triumphant return to McLaren. Strangely, I haven't had any driver transfers since just before the halfway point of season two. If you're interested, below is the full list of the teams and drivers as it stands halfway through season three. I've put them in the order of the current performance ranking. Racing Point - Perez & Ricciardo Ferrari - Me & Leclerc Mercedes - Hamilton & Vettel Red Bull - Verstappen & Bottas Haas - Magnussen & Grosjean Williams - Weber & Russell Alfa Romeo - Sainz & Gasly Toro Rosso - Albon & Giovinazzi McLaren - Butler & Raikkonen Renault - Hulkenberg & Stroll

The weather forecast in the career mode messages folder is wrong. I do 25% races, but the graphic showing when rain will be doesn't seem to be scaled to race distances. Ahead of the Azerbaijan GP, it said that the race would be dry until the end, when there would be light rain (the first six of the seven slots were dry). I had a terrible qualifying in the rain and would be starting the race in 17th. I started on medium tyres as I thought it would rain and that I could potentially avoid pitting, as the rule on using two dry compounds wouldn't be enforced. I also knew that the AI cars would be starting on softs, so they would have to pit halfway through to go onto mediums. As it turned out, there was no rain, so I had to pit on the penultimate lap. I was 2nd when I pitted and came out in 7th, so I didn't do too badly in the end, but if I can't trust the forecast given to me at the start of a weekend, I can't plan my strategy.

Safety Car appears in almost every race
WestHam66 replied to Magic1111's topic in General Discussion
First race of a new career season and there was a Safety Car. I hadn't played the game since the patch increased the frequency of it coming out and I had liked not having it come out every race, like it did on F1 2016. Hamilton had an engine failure just after turn 2, but instead of parking up off the circuit straight away, he continued towards turn 3 and caused three other cars to crash. That could have been avoided if the game was programmed so that AI cars drive off the track rather than keep going. -
Updates/changes to F1 2019 & career mode since November
WestHam66 posted a topic in General Discussion
I am going to start playing F1 2019 for the first time since November, but haven't kept up with the updates and changes to the game. I'd really appreciate a rundown of anything new and/or different about the game (specifically career mode) in the last few months. -
What if the game didn't completely change every year?
WestHam66 replied to DrDraken's topic in General Discussion
If the option was available to reskin F1 2019, I would take it. I like the gameplay and the career mode. This is something that should have happened with Fifa games years ago. The last one I bought was Fifa 18 as there hadn't been any meaningful updates to career mode for ages. The gameplay on Fifa 18 wasn't as good as that of Fifa 16, so I would have really liked the option of installing updated teams, players etc for that rather than buying a new game every year or two. For me, F1 2019 is slightly different as the last one I had was F1 2016 and career mode has improved since then. I also prefer the gameplay to 2016. -
On the Wales rally of the Clubman championship, I had heavy rain or wet gravel without rain for all six stages. I know it rains a lot in Wales (I'm part Welsh and have spent many days visiting family in the rain!) but for the game to give me six wet stages is a bit ridiculous, especially as the last time I did the Wales rally on Clubman, I had no wet stages!

Rain in all stages of a Wales career championship
WestHam66 replied to WestHam66's topic in DiRT Rally 2.0
The algorithm that picks the career stages couldn't be picking them and the weather based on my previous progress, could it? The last time I did the Clubman championship on Wales, I came 6th but this time was 12th. Perhaps the game is trying to make it more difficult by giving me all wet stages? -

servers DiRT Rally 2.0 - In-Game Server Connectivity

I was able to connect at 11am UK time. It was very slow, although I was able to play three stages before connection failed. -

WestHam66 replied to CavernousEnnui's topic in DiRT Rally 2.0 Support
I couldn't connect at about 5.30pm. I'm on Xbox, in the UK. After several re-tries, I got into My Team but it wouldn't repair my car and then I got the 'connection failed' message. Whose bright idea was it to make My Team online only? I quit the game and put F1 2019 on... -

This has nothing to do with 'priority server access', it's about the servers working properly for EVERYONE. -
servers DiRT Rally 2.0 - In-Game Server Connectivity
WestHam66 replied to CavernousEnnui's topic in DiRT Rally 2.0 Support
I struggled to connect this morning. I didn't get a 'connection failed' message at first, but it took ages to connect. After every career stage, it took a while to load the timing screen and when paying for repairs on one occasion, it gave me the 'connection failed' message. -
What I actually meant was buying cars in career. Unless you buy one car from every class, it's unlikely that there will be many challenges available on a regular basis. Even if I were able to play them, they'd probably go awry due to dodgy server connectivity. At least Dirt Rally career didn't require connection to the sub-par servers to be playable!
-
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm sure on Dirt Rally you could do a daily challenge even if you didn't own the car. I'm sure I remember doing a daily in Monte Carlo with a Fiesta WRC despite not buying it. Being limited in what challenges you can do on DR2 is frustrating, if you don't buy a load of cars

DiRT Rally 2.0 - In-Game Server Connectivity [CM Note: Check first post]
WestHam66 replied to ChristinaMc's topic in DiRT Rally 2.0
I can't connect. This is getting ridiculous now. How many times do we have to complain about server connection issues before Codemasters bother to do anything? What's worse is that it's not a recent issue! People on here have been complaining since the game was released and nothing gets fixed. Please Codemasters, either improve your servers or make My Team playable offline. @PJTierney -
In Spain, when one stage is dry and the next is wet (and vice versa), is it faster to use wet tyres on dry tarmac or dry tyres on wet tarmac?
-
Driving on tarmac with a controller can be a pain if your inputs are too aggressive. I have to turn down the front and rear ride heights to the lowest just to avoid the back of the car fishtailing, but this can still happen without taking care. Germany and Monte Carlo were two of my favourites locations on DR and I've not bothered buying them on DR2 because I don't want to have to deal with the dodgy physics. I'd be happy to be told that the problems with Spain don't exist on Germany and Monte Carol though!
