  1. I think these are great suggestions. I think that with F1 2020 CM need to focus on fixing/improving the current issues (i.e. safety car) instead of introducing new features, but the things you suggested shouldn't be a lot of work to implement.

Yeah I liked the i9dea of driver transfer sand it was one of the main reasons why I bought the game I can see why the amount of them can seem a little crazy but the only solution I think was to do what they've done at leas tin the short term and give those that don't want it an off switch and those that are happy can leave it on. I'm one of the ones who were happy with it. Is it perfect? no but I don' t think it's an easy fix as it means rejigging the whole contract system for the player as well as the AI. As I suspect the driver transfer system works through that based on what I've seen. Fo rth system to work right is more a 2020 job than can be done in a patch the on/off switch is likely the best thing they can do in a patch which is what they've given us.

That's why I think these things should always be an option.

I remember how Grand Prix 2 in the 90's had an option for random mechanical problems for the player. While Codemasters won't do it because "not everyone likes that" 🙄

First of all, please stop comparing F1 2015 to Project Cars. They are completely different games. The former is a playable version of the current Formula 1 season and the latter is a fantasy type racing game, with no real championships or drivers. At least it has a Career Mode though...

That brings me to my second point. Please stop going on and on and on about there being no Career Mode in F1 2015. The broadcast elements that Codemasters have introduced simply do not allow for a Career Mode where you can use any name. You may think that I am talking rubbish, but it is true.

And anyway, do you all really have such big egos that you absolutely HAVE to have your own names on the drivers you play as? Do you feel THAT important that you simply cannot buy a racing game without being able to think that you are the driver?

    Fin.
First of all; CM could have added a career mode without broadcast style presentation. I personally don't care much about the broadcast presentation; I want to feel like I'm the driver, not a spectator. But like always, CM forces their ways through our throats. And things like podium sequences could have been made in a first person perspective, so CM wouldn't have to bother with creating a selection of faces for the player.

    First off, a question.

If we can only race as a 2015 driver in the game, is it possible to do multiple seasons, or will it just be the 2015 season?

Here are my thoughts on Career Mode (I have only played 2010 and 2012)

I enjoyed progressing through the years as an F1 driver, starting at one of the bottom teams and eventually becoming a World Champion at a top team, as I did in the 2010 game.

As disappointing as it is to not have a Career Mode in the 2015 game, I didn't like how the first season was the year of the game e.g. 2010 and then the next however many seasons you played just used that season's cars. I would love to see an F1 Career Challenge type game from Codemasters, but licencing issues are probably a big obstacle.

The lack of Career Mode has allowed Codemasters to incorporate a lot of new features e.g. pre and post race chat and interviews. Those features couldn't be used in the seasons of CM after the first. Another licencing issue.

I'm not sure, but from what I know the licences for the previous seasons should still be within CV's hands. If that would be the case it would be possible to have a career mode with seasons 2010 to 2015. Or 2016, since 2015 won't have a career mode. But I'm not sure if the licences work that way, although it was the case with EA's F1 Challenge.

If Codemasters are adding the often requested podium sequences, then being in the game yourself wouldn't look very realistic, as you'd end up on the podium still wearing a helmet, as they wouldn't have a 3D model of your head!
The law of untold consequences. Happens all the time when you do something in software - it impacts in all sorts of way you would never think/

However, what they could do is show the podium sequence from your eye view as a driver perspective instead - that way they would not have to have your head model included in the game. It would be great as well if it had some sort of first person control where you could move around spraying champagne at the models etc.
That was actually a much requested feature when CM got the license and asked the community for suggestions. But like all other suggestions, CM ignored it.

Unless they'd make it first person (like the community asked for prior to F1 2010...)

  7. Did anyone else notice how CM avoids the questions about the career mode? Sure, Justbiglee stated earlier that in F1 2015 you pick one of the existing drivers and compete as them, but there has been no clear statement like "no, there won't be a career mode", and people are still confused and/or filled with (false?) hope. As if CM know it will have a negative impact on sales...

I think a lot of you here should start up a kickstarter page, asking to raise funds for the Formula 1 license and a game development studio. You have all the ideas!
Oh, please... It was CM that asked the community for ideas and suggestions when they got the F1 license. By the way; CM never did anything with those ideas. Except for maybe the safety car. But on the other hand, the SC is still almost non-existent.

Where is it confirmed there is no career mode this year? I mean there's no mention of it in the initial announcement, but that doesn't mean it's not there. They could simply leave that out until a later announcement.

Career mode is a pretty core feature of any racing game, becoming the driver. So would be wierd to leave it out. It would certainly eliminate my interest in the game.

    Read this:
Reading the tweets. It sounds like u can't create ur own driver in career mode ?? Am I getting the wrong impression. Or is this for a later announcement
In F1 2015 you pick which driver / team you want to race for and compete as them.

Sure, it's not 100% confirmed that there's no career mode, but it's pretty clear IMO.

Codemasters, this is a simple question, all FREE PRACTICES,  2 on Friday and 1 on Saturday are going to be back or not?

I know that there are a lot of improvements that everybody has been asking for , but IMO if you are bringing all these new features such as tyre performance based on the wheater change, it will not make any sense without the entire Formula 1 weekend.

    Thanks
This is the only reason I did not buy any cm f1 games after 2011. If they bring them back, then I'll be back!

It would be a pathetic joke if CM dropped the career mode to focus more on realism, but still wouldn't bring back all FP's. On the other hand, I still wouldn't be suprised...

Well C|M will probably lose a lot of sales without one . I kinow that if there isn't a career/story then I won't be buying.
what do u enjoy about career mode? the problem i have with it is that it gets boring so fast there no real need to play more than 1 season
I enjoy everything about it. earning a reputation winning races and championships the whole experience.
Exactly. I like to start at the bottom and eork my way up. There's no fun in it for me to just select Hamilton and win races. And when I'd choose a slower (e.g. Mclaren :'( ) there would be no point in it for me either, since there's not much to gain.

Who cares about the press? I remember a video game website (IGN, I think) saying that F1 2013 is hardcore realistic or something like that LOL   I

I know that record companies pay magazines and websites for good reviews, so I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same in the games industry. Especially when considering a lot of bug infested games (coughcoughfifacough) get very high ratings.

  13. Didnt Codemasters say last year you couldnt pick your personal racing number and have your name and nationality on your overalls due to FOM/Licensing? How do they expect us to beleive this tripe when we are substituting the real driver for a fabricated one wearing a bland generic Codemasters helmet. Why would FOM not find that offensive but outlaw having your own number? The helmets actually have sponsors on them
Like I said in the thread about this issue, it must be true because F1  Championship Edition had the same limitations in career mode. And I remember reaqding back then that the F1 license is very strict and very limited.
The drivers numbers were based on driver/constructor championship placings between 1996 and 2013. 2014 the driver picked a number, so of course CE wouldnt have that option but whats Codemaestroes excuse?
But even then the numbers should have automatically change each season. Besides, I meant the restrictions like helmet sponsors, driver name and flag etc.

Just wondering, where did you get the info about F1 2015 not having Career mode... Official CM source, please?
Anyway, I'm not that big designer (more like casual player), but Designer-thing would be nice I think. Although I'd still much prefer having a copy-project of F1 Online: The Game in F1 20XX. (I agree, it got boring, but it actually offered different parts and performance for the same level...)
It's been pretty much confirmed by Justbiglee in the announcment thread:

Reading the tweets. It sounds like u can't create ur own driver in career mode ?? Am I getting the wrong impression. Or is this for a later announcement

  16. Although I very much like the idea, I have too agree with the others saying licensing would be a huge problem.

(not sure if I'm allowed to post this, but...)
...for those interested; there is a supermod for F1 Challenge that contains all seasons from 1950 up to 2015.

  17. The problem with Stevie boys vision was that, 90% of people who were going to "just pick up and play" a racing game, will 90% of the time pick Gran Turismo or something similar and not so much of a niche sport such as F1.

They might as well try and make this one  more in the direction of a full sim, what have they got to lose really?
The last 2 games were terrible, so the world isn't expecting much.
You have a good point there, but don't forget that an F1 fan is not automatically a die-hard sim fan. Although I do think it's always better to make a simulation based race game, and add driver assists to make it more accesible, instead of mixing things up.

But from the looks of it, F1 2015 will have a sim mode alongside the sim/arcade mix from previous games, wich is very good IMO (although I personally prefer the physics style of past games).

  18. No career mode means no F1 2015 for me. Simple as that.
yeah it probably will for me as well tbh but I'm prepared to wait and see if it's under a different name or format before I confirm my decision though. After all they've only given a small amount of info to work on. We're going to have to wait ansd see what comes in the next few weeks before we know anything concrete.
It's more or less confirmed already...

However, I still hope CM will reconsider it, but I dount it.
