    Ideas for improvement [F1 2020]

I think these are great suggestions. I think that with F1 2020 CM need to focus on fixing/improving the current issues (i.e. safety car) instead of introducing new features, but the things you suggested shouldn't be a lot of work to implement.

Patch Notes for 1.15 – Discussion Thread

That's why I think these things should always be an option. I remember how Grand Prix 2 in the 90's had an option for random mechanical problems for the player. While Codemasters won't do it because "not everyone likes that" 🙄
  3. IMO Codemasters shouldn't implement any new features in F1 2020, except for maybe very minor ones. They should just focus on improving all the current features and fix all issues, otherwise we'll have the same problems as every year...

Patch Notes for 1.09 – Discussion Thread

And still no word from CM on the mid-season driver transfers...
  5. There are a lot of things I'd like to see differently in the next game (although I haven't played F1 2014 yet, but I expect nothing has changed much), but IMO there is one BIG, fundamental mistake Codemasters have made: It's the lack of options. CM has made a lot of choices for us that could have easily been implemented in the games as options. e.g.: I remember that Codemasters stated in the past that they won't include mechanical failures for the player because there are players who wouldn't like it. Ok, that's completely understandable. But is it really that hard to give people an option to enable or disable mechanical failures? Even "prehistoric" F1 games like Grand Prix 2 (loved that game) had that as an option. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if CM pragrammed the safety car intentionally to almost never come out, because some players might find the SC annoying. Again, that's understandable, but again, it could be an option. There could even be an option to increase or decrease the chance for a SC. Another example: career lasts 5 seasons max. Really, why? Why not make it unlimited and let people choose for themselves how many seasons they want to play. If someone wants to quit after 3 seasons, they can. If someone wants to quit after 5 seasons, they can. But if people want to do 10, 15 or even 20 seasons, just lt them do it! Besides, the careers of succesful Formula 1 drivers usually last a lot longer than 5 years. And isn't this game's career mode about becoming a succesful F1 driver? Also, I'm in my first 2013 season with Marussia, and I'm getting realistic results thanks to the improved AI (wich is a plus for me). But now I'm afraid that I'll only be able to drive for a team like McLaren or Ferrari only in the last season. I mean, c'mon! Or what about the free practice sessions? For my personal playing style I like doing only 1 practice session, but I know there are a lot of players that want to do all three practice sessions. If we can have an option to choose between realistic and shortb qualifying, why the heck can't we have the CHOICE to do either 1 free practice session or all three? I could go on and on about this, but I think I have made my point clear. I guess it's too late for F1 2015 sice it will be released earlier this year, but I hope CM will really give us more freedom to choose the way we want to play their F1 games. Especially since CM claims they want to satisfy both casual gamers and hardcore simmers.

    Two things

First of all; CM could have added a career mode without broadcast style presentation. I personally don't care much about the broadcast presentation; I want to feel like I'm the driver, not a spectator. But like always, CM forces their ways through our throats. And things like podium sequences could have been made in a first person perspective, so CM wouldn't have to bother with creating a selection of faces for the player.

    F1 2015 No Career mode??

I'm not sure, but from what I know the licences for the previous seasons should still be within CV's hands. If that would be the case it would be possible to have a career mode with seasons 2010 to 2015. Or 2016, since 2015 won't have a career mode. But I'm not sure if the licences work that way, although it was the case with EA's F1 Challenge.

    F1 2015 No Career mode??

The law of untold consequences. Happens all the time when you do something in software - it impacts in all sorts of way you would never think/ However, what they could do is show the podium sequence from your eye view as a driver perspective instead - that way they would not have to have your head model included in the game. It would be great as well if it had some sort of first person control where you could move around spraying champagne at the models etc. That was actually a much requested feature when CM got the license and asked the community for suggestions. But like all other suggestions, CM ignored it.

    F1 2015 No Career mode??

Unless they'd make it first person (like the community asked for prior to F1 2010...)

    Announcing F1 2015

Did anyone else notice how CM avoids the questions about the career mode? Sure, Justbiglee stated earlier that in F1 2015 you pick one of the existing drivers and compete as them, but there has been no clear statement like "no, there won't be a career mode", and people are still confused and/or filled with (false?) hope. As if CM know it will have a negative impact on sales...

    Announcing F1 2015

Oh, please... It was CM that asked the community for ideas and suggestions when they got the F1 license. By the way; CM never did anything with those ideas. Except for maybe the safety car. But on the other hand, the SC is still almost non-existent.
  12. Read this: In F1 2015 you pick which driver / team you want to race for and compete as them. Sure, it's not 100% confirmed that there's no career mode, but it's pretty clear IMO.

    F1 2015 Information Thread

This is the only reason I did not buy any cm f1 games after 2011. If they bring them back, then I'll be back! It would be a pathetic joke if CM dropped the career mode to focus more on realism, but still wouldn't bring back all FP's. On the other hand, I still wouldn't be suprised...

    F1 2015 youtuber

what do u enjoy about career mode? the problem i have with it is that it gets boring so fast there no real need to play more than 1 season I enjoy everything about it. earning a reputation winning races and championships the whole experience. Exactly. I like to start at the bottom and eork my way up. There's no fun in it for me to just select Hamilton and win races. And when I'd choose a slower (e.g. Mclaren :'( ) there would be no point in it for me either, since there's not much to gain.

    Announcing F1 2015

I know that record companies pay magazines and websites for good reviews, so I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same in the games industry. Especially when considering a lot of bug infested games (coughcoughfifacough) get very high ratings.
  16. Like I said in the thread about this issue, it must be true because F1  Championship Edition had the same limitations in career mode. And I remember reaqding back then that the F1 license is very strict and very limited. The drivers numbers were based on driver/constructor championship placings between 1996 and 2013. 2014 the driver picked a number, so of course CE wouldnt have that option but whats Codemaestroes excuse? But even then the numbers should have automatically change each season. Besides, I meant the restrictions like helmet sponsors, driver name and flag etc.

  18. It's been pretty much confirmed by Justbiglee in the announcment thread: In F1 2015 you pick which driver / team you want to race for and compete as them.
  19. Like others said, there won't be a career mode in F1 2015, making custom helmets useless. BUT... if F1 2016 will have a career mode again it should definitely have a helmet designer.

    F1 Classic Game Idea

Although I very much like the idea, I have too agree with the others saying licensing would be a huge problem. (not sure if I'm allowed to post this, but...) ...for those interested; there is a supermod for F1 Challenge that contains all seasons from 1950 up to 2015.
  21. Paulski2610

    FOM really to blame??

The career mode in F1 Championship Edition had the same problems (no driver or number changes, no helmet sponsors, original driver's name/flag on player's car/suit), so I'm afraid it's true...

My god... how did I ever play this game?

Like I said before, not every F1 fan is a hardcore sim fan...

    2015 for free?

Pre-orders and launch day purchases are the main reason why game companies get away with lack of quality. And with quality I mean both the quality of the actual product and the support.

Except it probably won't be a career, just one season :)

My god... how did I ever play this game?

You have a good point there, but don't forget that an F1 fan is not automatically a die-hard sim fan. Although I do think it's always better to make a simulation based race game, and add driver assists to make it more accesible, instead of mixing things up. But from the looks of it, F1 2015 will have a sim mode alongside the sim/arcade mix from previous games, wich is very good IMO (although I personally prefer the physics style of past games).
