    Safety car & backmarkers

    I was contemplating whether this should go into the technical assistance but I wouldn't say it's a 'bug' but rather an oversight which has been around for quite some time, probably F1 2016. Here's the situation: I'm running 3s in front of my teammate and Magnussen. Both of them are being lapped by the leader; before Leclerc laps me - a safety car comes out. I pass the SC and go round while my teammate & Kevin get stuck behind Charles and the SC. So my 3s gap suddently turns into 1 minutes and 40 seconds. I had this happen in 2016 but in the last few interations of F1, I have started in midfield teams hence it wasn't really occured. I realize it that would be affecting us guys who do 100% races more compared to the more popular 50% distance, however it can be quite annoying when it happens. But if the backmarker-SC logic is fixed (and they can unlap themselves), everyone would benefit. How many times a backmarker has ruined the SC restart by not going out of the way or something like that. I guess to summarize my suggestions - lapped cars should unlap themselves under the SC as the rules were changed in 2013.
  2. I'm playing on console (Xbox), is there an easy way to do it? I feel like they were a good baseline and I'd rather start working on the 2020 from somewhere, rather from scratch. Thanks
  3. Don't be absurd. Who needs or uses telemetry in Formula 1? It's incredibly simple sport and nobody relies on data. My local blacksmith is producing Mercedes' chassis and aero parts :smiley:  PS: 6 years on and F1 game without telemetry is criminal. FFS Codies! Games like Forza Horizon 2 (open-world!) have telemetry. Is it so hard to implement?

    Not strange at all. F1 has what, 20 cars. CM has probably had access to car data since end of march. So not very long. In fact it doesn't take that much time to graphically model the cars. It's the engine and underlying sim aspects that take all the dev time. Development time is not going to scale in a linear way as a function of cars and tracks. And pcars was delayed, what, three times ? Once for over 6 months. That would be true if CM bothered to make the F1 cars accurately. They are simply tiered into 6-7 categories. It's not like they spend hundreds of hours researched downforce levels, mechanical grip and tyre usage of the different cars.  How could they when the cars have only been out 3-4 months ? Non of the teams are going to give them access to that sort of data, and certainly any time available for collecting it would want to be used by the teams instead for testing. My guess is they moan enough at just having to give out the surface models.  I am talking about past titles. Which were also released much later in the season.

    Can you into some more detail why the information is so scarce as of now? Content not polished enough to be showed? Also a couple of more questions if you have the info 1) Are setups more in depth? 2) Is the damage model improved and if yes is there a hardcore damage model (FW into tyre -> puncture)  3) Are the cars in tier systems or their stats have more depth to them. For example the Red Bull is strong on the high downforce circuits, the Williams has good aerodynamic efficiency on the straights, the McLaren breaks down before leaving the garage (:smiley:) and so on? Or are they universal like they used to do - if the Red Bull is Tier 1 car it will be as strong on Singapore (relative to the other cars) as it is on Monza?

    Well played, should've known that would happen when I picked this gamertag all those years ago :wink:  Complete honesty, it's a pretty odd situation for me as I'm still new here so I'm still earning an awful lot about what is going on and the processes, so I take the 'better safe than sorry' approach to things. On the bright side (for you, at least) you can use only 2 phrases and still be extremely effective Community Manager by Codemasters' standards. 1. We will provide more information soon 2.     I feel for LiteralZero, to be honest. He's trying to keep us happy but he's LITERALLY given ZERO ( get it? :smiley: ) information and permission from above to tell us something meaningful.

    I very much doubt that. I'm guessing they didn't have time to implement it which is actually pretty absurd considering how shallow the Career mode has been for years.  Just look at the most popular F1 youtuber (Tiametmarduk) and his most frequent content - he's doing Career mode.

     If 2K were to pick up the F1 franchise I'd be very happy. They have consistently shown that they understand the core of the sports games they pick up (UFC, NBA) while providing a lot of depth. EA - nah. They are just money making machine, I doubt we'd see much better game that the CM one, it would just be much better marketed.

    I wouldn't say FIFA is a good sports, it just appeals to a larger audience. The game itself is incredibly arcadey and completely glances over things like formations, midfield control, playing styles, etc. It's end-to-end stuff and fun, that's why so many people play it, not because of its depth.  EA, as obnoxious company they are, if they pull their resources they can actually make decent games. However, this hardly ever happens. Their UFC games it miles behind Yuke/THQ's, Madden sucks, NBA Live 15 is not qualified to shine NBA 2k15's shoes, etc. EA won't be my preferred choice for developer of F1 2015, not by a long stretch.
