Well, we don't know what direction F1 is going, do we? Past experience says arcade, paid media articles says more focus on sim (sim-acde actually). Truth is, on next-gen consoles currently there isn't an open-wheel game and part of the Pcars demographic no doubt aligns with F1's. Just take a look at popular F1 youtubers and see how many of them are playing/testing/making videos about Pcars. While different experience and focus, the game is certainly not far from the F1 niche.

So somebody mentioned that Pcars and F1 share the same publisher (Bandai Namco) earlier and I am thinking out loud here, so bear with me. Pcars is being released on the 7th of May, I'm guessing Bandai are putting pressure on CM (or out right telling them, I'm not sure how their relationship works) to not promote F1 right not as it may mean losing on Pcars sales. I'm expecting that F1's marketing campaign will start after the 7th (possibly a week or two later so customers on the fence don't go the other way). Then I'm guessing they hope F1's huge global appeal, especially in Europe and Asia, to carry the sales of the game for them. And here's a wishful thought if I ever had one: Bandai feel that F1 2015 has enough quality (+ the already existing appeal of F1) to be able to pull off a successful short campaign without hurting the sales figures.

But wasn't someone from the CM team talking about that how everything about F1, including the company culture, is a new a start for F1 2015. "Think of it as Batman Begins, not Batman & Robin." he said. I guess it's my fault for believing, right?

Best case scenario, the word 'marketing' never made its way to CM HQ so they don't know what it means or why it is important. Worst case scenario, the usual. The game is crap, catered to the casual gamer and CM realize that showing us won't be helpful for the sales.

Can anyone recall an F1 game in the last 15-20 years that didn't feature career mode?
-
So u watch formula 1 for the formation lap?? I watch F1 for a lot of reasons. But your mindset is absurd - do I watch F1 for pitstops? No. Do I watch F1 because of the introduction of V6 Turbos? No. Do I watch F1 because of Monaco (for example)? No. Does this mean all these things should be removed because they are not the primary reason I watch F1? Formation laps have a purpose. Bringing up tyres and brakes up to temperature and finding the clutch bite point. They also make the anticipation for the start more tense. CM delayed F1 2015 for a year and they have the nerve to use "we didn't have enough time" as an excuse? Are you having a laugh? At least we are getting the 2015 cars from the get-go. Oh, wait, nevermind.

Nah, it's the F1 logo that has been selling their sub-par product for 5 years now. The CM name holds little value nowadays.

Motr like "F1 2015 STEALBOOK edition" :D Looks nice but it's worthless and I don't see the point of paying more for what is basically "tips and tricks". Any info on digital edition? I'm done collecting disks, I prefer having everything on my console.

You should seriously consider breaking your wall of text into smaller paragraphs. Makes reading a lot easier :) Wall of text? LOL. It's FOUR lines. And I agree with Zombie, actually. I play F1 games to be immersed, not to spectate. And supposedly that was CM's aim as well, remember them saying that this is the reason why we can't spectate AI drivers? What I find extremely funny is that the new "Career" mode was actually in previous editions of the game (F1 2011, I believe). Then it was removed and now it's re-introduced and CM market it as if we are supposed to be wow'd by the inclusion of it.

He is incredibly marketable driver, nothing surprising. The drivers with the biggest fanbases would always be the favorites to be on the cover.

I really am wondering what CM was hoping to achieve with those press reviews? All of them were pretty vague and nondescript, not offering real information or opinion but rather going with the standard "much improved" line which honestly after F1 2014 means absolutely nothing. And on top of that none of the reviewers are serious racing entities to begin with. Team VVV is the only exception but their review was just as vague, not giving real opinion, insight or even material to start discussion on. Not to mention that they also play much more hardcore games there so I wouldn't expect them to over the moon with the physics model anyway. All in all, these press stuff meant nothing to me and I find it hilarious that CM would classify them as some kind of marketing exercise. Give us something real, people. We are not brain dead, I can make my own mind up if you throw enough information at me. On-board videos, developers diary, demo, anything that I can use to form my opinion. I don't need a reviewer whose racing history consists of Mario Karts and NFS to give his opinion on Formula 1 game. Get it together, Codermasters. The quality of your previous products don't put you in a position that we can simply take your word for it, especially so close to release date.

Getting part of my money back when I sold the game.

I know that record companies pay magazines and websites for good reviews, so I wouldn't be surprised if it's the same in the games industry. Especially when considering a lot of bug infested games (coughcoughfifacough) get very high ratings. This is definitely true. Especially bigger publishers like EA invest heavily in both paying off gaming review websites as well as heavy promotion by giving access to youtubers who then hype the game on their behalf. But I don't think Codemasters are big enough or rich enough to really go down that route. In companies like IGN I think it's more the case of "Oh, I've played only NFS and these F1 games seem über hardcore to me because I can't drift through every corner.
-
Who cares about the press? I remember a video game website (IGN, I think) saying that F1 2013 is hardcore realistic or something like that LOL  I

Can anyone confirm if I got this right? F1 2015 is being released 2 months from now and we have no gameplay, no trailer, no info? In fact, the most insightful info we have received is some leaked images that we weren't supposed to see. On top of that the previous game was a slap on the face, by far the worst game in the series and absolutely awful. Come on, Codermasters. I know the F1 license sells copies but at least pretend to make some effort promoting the game.

Is it possible on console? I don't think so.
-
:# :D :D That's not entirely true, though. Undoubtedly a relativity new PC blows out of water both the XOne and PS4 but not everyone are using beastly PC, do they? Not to mention that both consoles seem to have a heaps of untapped potential as of yet.

I'm not talking about going off the charts, measuring how different tyre pressures affect the handling, aero telemetry measuring drag and stuff like that. I'm really talking about basic stuff - how setups and driving styles affect tyre wear, time deltas compared to teammates, comparing how different braking points reflect your lap time, simple stuff really. @vtidixon , you are correct to an extent, the setups were pretty basic. But for example in 2013 where tyre wear (especially compared to the AI) was incredibly bad I would have absolutely loved to be given the opportunity to do a couple of different heavy full stints with different driving styles and setups to see if I can extend my tyre life. And I'm talking about going back to the garage and comparing but a lap-by-lap comparison. And that feature was even in the game - remember that tyre test in FP1 where you had a percentage of tyre wear in real time as you were on the track? Basically what we were given was minimal amount of tyre info (colored graphics), hell even the fuel info was limited to +1/+2 or -1 or optimal. I'm not saying go full iRacing or rFactor on the game but this Formula 1 ffs. You can't treat this franchise like NFS or Grid 2.
