The very first version of the game

Hi I recently installed 'World Championship Snooker' on my new PC.  It installed fine, however the game wont run.  I am not getting any error messages, the screen goes black as if it is going to load and then just goes back to windows!  I have tried changing the compatibility mode in the properties and Dosbox, but neither have worked. Any advice would as to how I can sort it, would be much appreciated. Cheers
