    Goodbye :)

    Christmas and the entire festive season has a way of allowing people to take stock of things and during the recent holidays I came to the conclusion that it was time for a new challenge, and as such, this will be my last full week at Codemasters before I drive off into a new and exciting race. I’ve spent my three years at Codemasters working across a number of games and have at some point worked on each of our major franchises but it was GRID that I would ultimately call ‘home’ and as such I’ll take a number of great memories of that time forward with me. I’m incredibly proud of what we accomplished together, and it’s not often someone in my position can actually say that. The creation of GRID Autosport, a game born from Community feedback itself is something that will stay with me for many years to come. It really was the game that started to change it all and the future of Community involvement in Codemasters titles has never been more prominent. Whether it was here on the forums, Facebook, Twitter, in-game or somewhere else entirely, it’s been a blast talking with you; hearing your ideas, reading your feedback and in some cases taking the proverbial bullet from you. Suffice to say that it’s certainly been memorable and I wish you all the best for the future, the gaming world is very small so no doubt we may cross paths with each other at some point in the future, at least I hope so.   2. Hi everyone :) As we're now winding down for the festive break I thought I'd stop by and wish you all the best for next few weeks with whatever you may have planned. Be it visiting family, filling up on turkey or playing games all day in your pyjamas I hope it's awesome.  It's hard to imagine that this time last year we were hard at work on Autosport, how time does fly! It's been a great 2014 and now all eyes turn to 2015! Have a great holiday season and a super New Year, and more importantly, happy gaming :)

Shortly after the release of GRID 2 we released some free DLC that focused on the Demo Derby aspect of the game, and for Autosport we went one step further by including that content within the game straight from the get go. Not to be out done by our previous efforts we’ve teamed up with Valve to offer our PC players a very special version of Demo Derby.  The Detroit Stadium becomes the ‘Badlands Stadium’ complete with trackside sponsorship from Mann Co. and your other favourite Team Fortress 2 corporations; such as Scoot’s Canoe, Jimi Jam, Gummy’s Burgers and more.  There are even a couple of Aperture Science flags flying, and the giant video wall now displays scenic messages, encouraging you to pay a visit to the likes of Gravel Pit and Teufort.   6. We do love Halloween, and it’s easily our fourth most favourite time of year. The Minions always seem exceptionally chipper, perhaps it’s because the pumpkin fields are overflowing with their orangey goodness. Unfortunately it’s not all great; one does remember the awful mess that the Minions made last year, who would have known pumpkin vomit would be so explosive. To distract us from the impending mess, and not to mention the smell, we’ve slashed the prices on the entire Overlord series over on Steam, including the Complete Pack.   7. The stifling heat, the shuddering vibrations, the smell of burnt rubber, the deafening roar of the engines; and of course, the earth-shattering acceleration. At the pinnacle of GRID Autosport’s drag racing are the mighty “Funny Cars”, so-called because there is nothing normal about them. The experience of driving one is like an all-out assault on the senses, as drivers try to wrestle eight thousand horsepower into submission as they are propelled at speeds in excess of three hundred miles per hour. That’s fast enough to cover a quarter-mile in less than 4 seconds. Let’s take a moment to consider how monstrously powerful these cars are. With a bellow of fire and smoke, zero to one hundred miles per hour is dealt with in less than a second, during a stage when the engine is artificially restricted to prevent the driveshaft from shattering, and the tyres from being shredded. At two seconds into the run, the car easily surpasses two hundred miles per hour and is still accelerating at five g’s – the engine power is ramped up to maximum, and it’s consuming roughly one and a half gallons of fuel every second.   8. We’ve been tinkering with VR for a while now and have reached the stage where we believe it’s working pretty well, and as such, we’ve decided to allow you to experience it for yourselves. If you have an Oculus Rift kit of your own and want to give it a try with GRID Autosport then below you’ll find some handy step by step instructions and additional information to get you set up. We have tested both the DK1 and DK2, and released support using SDK 0.4.1, which contains the Direct to HMD rendering mode, as well as extended desktop mode. Hey everyone,  This is due to go into an upcoming patch but we figured that we'd allow owners of the T300RS Wheel to use the game with GRID Autosport right now.  This is for PC only at this time. Thought it easier to create a new thread on this :) PC Patch 20/08/2014 ·        Stability Improvement - Improved the stability of the game when navigating through the front end menus of the game for extended periods. ·        Save Fix - Fixed save issues which caused corruption when uninstalling previously used DLC packages. ·        Stability Improvement - Resolved issues which could cause multiplayer hosts to crash if clients became desynced during online eliminator events. ·        RaceNet Fix - Fixed certain instances of players not receiving their awards or achievements when competing in certain RaceNet challenges. ·        Stability Improvement - Fixed issues which could have sporadically caused players to crash when entering or leaving Time Trial events. ·        Stability Improvement - Resolved Time Attack related crashes which occurred during certain RaceNet challenge scenarios. ·        DLC Fixes - Integrated multiple fixes for upcoming DLC packages to optimise stability and compatibility. ·        Online Fix - (Drift) – Fixed issues which in some cases could have caused players to become stuck in a black screen when competing in online drift sessions. ·        Messaging Improvement - improved game messaging under certain scenarios where players are attempting to access online functionality without an active internet connection. ·        Save Fix - Added prevention measures to ensure save file does not read as corrupted if certain save file components are deleted. ·        Save Fix - Added a preventative fix to stop save game corruption if controller action maps are invalid. ·        Save Fix - Added chunk header to DLC initialisation to help prevent future corruption of save games. ·        Text Fix - (Japanese) - Fixed issues which prevented certain text strings from appearing correctly in Japanese language. ·        Audio Fix - (Splitscreen) - Added a preventative fix to stop mode specific music from playing incorrectly within the menu selection screens after a race session had previously finished. ·        Online Fix - The online repairs/wear and tear functionality has been reworked following feedback from the community. ·        Online Fix - A restorative fix has been implemented to ensure that players who had previously lost vehicle level data (reset to level one) will now have this data partially restored. ·        Graphical Fix - Resolved issues on certain PC configurations which caused lighting artefacts on night races when advanced lighting was enabled.    Update on the console patches 14/08/14 Microsoft found an issue late last night which resulted in corrupt saves (different method, same outcome). As such we've had to pull the patches or we'd be back at square one, we would have fixed one thing only for another to take its place. Despite the PlayStation patch passing we've also pulled it from submission due to the bug also being present in it. We are currently in the process of creating a fix for this issue and the patches will once again go back into submission later today / tomorrow. We expect these patches to speed through the early stages of submission and pick up where they left off, as a result we're expecting them to go live by the end of next week. Appreciate this isn't the news you want to see, and it's not the news you deserve to read, for that I can only apologise. Given the nature of the issues that were found the last thing we want to do was make matters worse. The issue at hand was incredibly difficult to spot (hence why neither us or Sony saw it) but we have no option other than to fix it. This fix will also go into an upcoming PC patch which is currently being tested by our own QA team and will be released as soon as it has passed all internal checks. Corrupt Save Files This is fixed in an upcoming console patchThe  corrupt save file issue has been fixed on PCOnce applied the patch will 'fix' corrupt saves, allowing you to carry on from where you left offPlease note, if you overwrite your save file it will not give you back your progressConsole Patches These are now in the last stages of internal testing at Microsoft and SonyIncluded in the patch is the corrupt save file fixAlso included is Time TrialAlso included is a host of other fixesPatch notes will be supplied in the coming daysPC Patches We're already working on a new PC patchWe'll bring you more info on that as it developsIt's hard to give a release date (for the console patch) as it's out of our hands but as soon as both Microsoft or Sony say it's good to go the patch will go live the next day. Giving estimates is always risky but providing nothing else pops up and no other issues are found the patch should be live by the end of next week. Again, I can only stress this is an estimate and is subject to change but I know a lot of you are pressing for  an update passed 'soon'. We appreciate a lot of you will be waiting for this patch and we thank you for your ongoing patience. As soon as there are any further developments we'll let you know. Please note: The previous thread on this, along with the off shoot discussions on the forum has seen a rise in anger, threats and personal abuse. While I appreciate you are frustrated I will not tolerate the continued descent down that patch. This doesn't just go for how you talk to us (Codemasters), but how you talk to each other. The forum is a great tool for us, and for you, please don't spoil it. Patch Notes Feature Addition – Time Trial mode implemented for GRID Autosport. Save Game Fix - Resolved several issues which potentially would have caused player saves becoming corrupt during prolonged playtime. Online Fix - Buying a car immediately after purchasing a garage slot could cause the car names to be misaligned or missing.   14. The camera view thread went down really well so I'm interested in getting another up and running. We've read all of your thoughts, opinions and feelings on the AI within GRID Autosport but I thought it was worth creating a single thread where we can have one central discussion surrounding it. Currently we are looking into the AI and are testing some tweaks that make the AI more aware, in particular this will hopefully reduce the amount of crashing into the back of you the AI does (accidents do happen on a race track though!). So, AI, what are your thoughts? What do you like about the AI What don't you like about the AI What would you improve with the AI
  15. Hi all, Just a quick update on this. It was unfortunate that the fix for repair costs and playlist changes didn't quite make it into the last patch, this was because all the fixes were complete after all the changes had been 'checked in' (the point of no return basically). Work has already started on the next set of patches and I can confirm that fixes for the repair costs as well as changes to the playlists are currently scheduled to go in. We'll bring you more news as the patch develops, along with a release date once everything is locked in place. Regarding the repair costs, the important part of this change is that all cars with less than 8,000 miles will cost considerably less to repair – which should be a big improvement because currently you will be finding that cars become extremely costly to repair after only 300-500 miles.   20. One of the things we’re deeply committed to is ensuring the multiplayer experience is as good as possible. Part of this process revolves around the feedback you’ve provided and since launch we’ve been carefully sifting through everything you’ve had to say.  Currently we’re busy preparing a number of improvements that are due to come in an upcoming patch; including advanced controller options for all wheels and controllers, a virtual rear view mirror and we’re also tweaking the matchmaking system to ensure finding games is a much smoother process. Today though we’re here to talk about playlists, and one thing we’ve been hearing from your feedback is that you want more variety in the available tracks. As such we’ll be making the following changes in an upcoming patch: • Increased number of potential routes across each of the five disciplines • Increased number of GP routes that appear • Ensured all locations feature prominently (See Red Bull Ring) Read more about the changes over on the blog.

    Bugged Cars - Update

    Hi all, There's a few threads and posts on this scattered around the forum so thought it would be worth making just one thread to try and catch all as it were. The issue where some of your cars were becoming bugged and causing the game to crash is due to be fixed in the next PC patch all going to plan, and will follow shortly after in the console patches. The fix will turn your bugged cars into working ones again the next time the game saves (once the patch is applied). I'll have more news in the coming days once confirmation of the patch date is locked down. Thanks to those who sent me their save file, this has helped a lot :)

Our inboxes were flooded with cars painted in their red, white and blue stylings and we’ve had a tough job choosing some of our favourites, but choose we did. The patch should fix a number of issues including the save file corruption. PC Patch Notes – 9th July Nvidia 3D VISION Fix – Improvements in UI interactions when using NVidia 3D Vision. UI Fix – (French & Portuguese) Online session text updated for easier readability in French & Portuguese languages. Career Fix – Fixed configuration issues which intermittently caused certain races to use the qualifying results for the starting grid positions rather than the previous race results in reverse. AMD CrossFire Fix – Resolved graphical issues which could appear during menu transitions when CrossFire is enabled. Online Fix – Fixed disconnection issues which could potentially cause checkpoint sessions to end prematurely if hosts lose their online connection. Online Fix – Resolved issues which sporadically caused session length times to cease displaying within the voting screen. UI Fix – Fixed rare instances of the total points OSD appearing within a drift zone then persisting on race results and rewards screens after drift event. Nvidia SLI Fix – Fixed flickering menu transition artefacts which occur on certain SLI configurations. UI Fix – Improved readability in relation to the online player XP scores when playing with 4:3 aspect ratio. Art Fix - (Paris Track) – Fixed track issues within Paris routes which occurred when playing in ultra low graphical presets. Art Fix – Resolved rare track issues which could have caused the player wheels to sink into the ground whilst on certain tracks. UI Fix – Resolved issues which could potentially cause the scoring prompts to stay on during drift games.
