You're sad that an excellent niche game is getting even greater exposure to a wider audience?

I forgot until now that Tuesdays, i.e. April 5, are my evening shift. :bawling:

Some trees are a real menace for the FPS counter. But on the other hand you have to keep in mind that you often have a view of the entire valley filled with those trees, fog, etc. So while the FPS should improve, I wouldn't expect much improvement. Still, those trees... they should be growing nicely with all that FPS they ate xD There are a couple stretches of Sweden where the trees affect the fps the same way as in Monte Carlo, but I never have any tree-related performance issues in even the most forested sections of Finland, Greece, etc.  Weirdly, I found the trees in F1 2010 (only F1 game I've played, and just started) to have a big fps hit, but the trees in Grid Autosport don't have any negative impact.

Yep, I'm so excited right now! 4 days of solid coursework, a week of skiing, a week of panic coursework and then Dirt time! I've got a stag do, a wedding and two days of rallycross to fill the time between now and then!  Your own stag and wedding? Because if so, that'd be one heck of a honeymoon.

Strange, they had the Monte episode before, I watched it there They must be only allowed to show the latest rally this year. :disappointed:

It's live streamed and archived here: http://livestream.com/fiaworldrallycross I hope the FIA doesn't make a deal, because then they'll block the free live stream!

What is the perk, anyway? "Bypass restrictor plate"?

The new stage loading screens, and the subsequent stage info appearing by itself, look awesome. Whoever is responsible for that solved the issue of the length/surface info occasionally covering the route map, with style.

I agree, the gaps are not really a bad thing and just as you said ad a sense of authenticity to the footage. I love hearing the car approaching too. How about that for a realistic hardcore noscope camera mod: one stage-side camera only, for the entire replay. Three minutes of silence, then vvvvvvVVRRRROOOMMMMmmmmmm, then three more minutes of silence until the replay is over.

More platforms = more sales = more rally!

Well that sucks. I guess it's console proprieties getting in the way. Too bad all leagues can't be available to everyone, with RaceNet handling all the player names and times. This is the reason cross-platform doesn't happen!

On a totally unrelated note, has there been any mention of if leagues will be cross-platform? I tried searching but couldn't find anything.

Can you quantify "majority" and "most"? I'd be interested in knowing what the breakdown is across all players (especially after the console release) for time spent in each discipline. I was playing rallycross last night and would love to have more circuits (and more stages). It wouldn't be pointless at all as far as I'm concerned.

I hope it's video, but wouldn't be surprised if it was text and graphics (not too terrible—most of my learning about rally came from the detailed loading screen tips in Rallisport Challenge 2). With its mortarboard icon, I secretly hope the tutorials section will include some kind of interactive element, like practicing what some videos might show, that you could "graduate" from.

It's a suspended ban—he won't be banned from an event unless he hits another spectator this year. He did get fined though.

Latvala fan here, and Meeke fan. :disappointed: Rough start, but it's early days. Really encouraging pace from Meeke though in that DS3. If J-M could just find the preternatural consistency that Ogier has, he could be taking the fight to Seb every season in those Polos.

It is totally worth for me, especially that there isn't any Rally TV or related cover here in Brazil. It gives you acess to the Highlights and most of the drivers POV and some other stuff. The player bugs sometimes but nothing that can bother and never had problems on Live stages. Same here in Canada, especially with 20% off right now. Absolutely worth it, for 3-6 hours of video every event, plus live maps and all the driver cam footage. I watched the replay of SS1 during my lunch, then the Day 1 highlights on my break. A co-worker was walking past my desk during some in-car footage and asked, "Is that a game?" I was so tempted to answer, "No, but let me tell you about Dirt Rally" but she wouldn't care. Forum won't let me click Agree and LOL.

Well, splitscreen in GRID 2 for example had degraded graphics without you ever changing them. I run the game basically at max settings but the splitscreen... looked so bad I could puke. It did retain the framerate though, so I wouldn't count it out just because they're aiming for 60FPS on consoles. That's completely normal for split screen. Something gets downgraded. Usually the LOD's, texture resolution, etc. In Mario Kart 8, going to 3 or 4 player splitscreen halves the fps cap from 60 to 30. GRID 2 however, was 30fps to start with on consoles. No launching space shuttle in Sega Rally Online Arcade splitscreen. :disappointed:

Audi Sport quattro E2 Honda Fit B-Spec Mitsu Lancer Evo VI Suzuki Monster Sport SX4 Toyota Celica GT-Four ST185 Edit: Since @Rallycameraman implies that these top 5 lists must be realistic, I've taken off the ST185. Instead I'll wish for: Lamborghini Gallardo Brakimghini

Sure, but if that was the goal from the outset, then they would budget for the most deformed version of each stage. I imagine baked lighting and textures would also go some way in communicating the look. Tarmac stages would be almost all texture work of skid marks and dirt on the roads. Edit: Ha, ok I'll give you an "agree" for that. :)

This is exactly what I'd love to have. No need for it to be dynamically generated, a handful of "worn in" variants do the trick just as well—design for effect. I imagine it would still be labour-intensive, since you would also need to create the weather and time-of-day variants of each of the dirty variants... but at least the end result wouldn't be memory-intensive.

Yes, I'd love this—hanging dust in the forested sections of Greece like in RX, (slightly) more likelihood of random rocks. They'd have to work out some way to form the running order (championship order for first 75% of event, reverse for final 25%?) and then the forums would be flooded with virtual Ogiers complaining. But it'd be worth it.

I'm hoping whatever optimization/compromise they do to get a locked framerate on console can be an option on PC, so I don't have to turn the trees to ultra low every time I'm in Monte Carlo!
