DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

I have a TMX (Xbox version of T150, I play on PC but prefer the Xbox buttons) and really like it. Wheel is plastic with a rubberized grip but the shifters are metal, nicer than the G29's IMO. Plastic pedals feel okay, but it's Thrustmaster so you have the option of upgrading them to the metal T3PA Pro pedals later. FFB in the wheel is pretty good, it's mixed belt/pulley. T150/TMX is a budget FFB wheel and really good value for what you get.

I crashed just before the end of Jyrkysjärvi, which seemed to result in this little bug/taste of Dirt 4: I could actually drive a little further past the vans before the game teleported me back to just after the flying finish boards. There was no way to end the stage, without quitting, restarting, or turning around and driving backwards until disqualification.

A near infinite combination of routes but there is still a limit to the length of those routes ;) Also, just play Euro Truck Simulator for the transit routes.  :p Who said we wanted long transit routes LOL :p @dwkGravey great idea, It would be awesome to drive from the service park to the first stage (a Your stage generates road that start from the Service park Time check to the start of the stage) and then you go to the stage info and load the Your Stage SS.  If you just want to drive the stage you can skip it, but it would be cool and I think it isnt impossible  Transit stages would feel long enough, going 50 km/h (on three wheels). Can't be too early, can't be too late. Just need traffic! If only ETS2's Heavy Cargo Pack included rally service trucks.

If Your Stage can create infinite routes, where are our transit stages?

Confirmed, America is indeed better. Canada gets it on the 6th too, and free healthcare.

Glad to see Ostberg laughing again. He was one of my favourite drivers when I started watching in 2013, but hadn't been the same for quite a while.

Yeah, it sounds a lot like GRID: contract driver for other teams (who take a big cut) until you've saved up enough money for your own car and garage and employees.  Which is how ETS2 does it too. Great minds think alike.

The flare from those light bars looks great. Beginning of career mode looks really good. The manual and loading screen tips of Rallisport Challenge 2 formed my introduction to rallying. Dirt 4 looks like a substantial step up from that for potentially getting more people into the sport.

I got a wheel last month too, and now I have to drive smoother since trying to hit a button for the handbrake is not going well at the moment. Really looking forward to DirtFish and Dirt Academy, now that I have the wheel I'm going to need the training.

Dear Dirt 4 playtesters, may the lord hate you and all your kind. May you turn orange in hue, and may your head fall off at an awkward moment.

DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

When did we start caring about being on topic in here? We've only had arguments about helicopters, water splashes, whining, thanking... a change of pace would be nice. The helicopters and the water splashes stemmed from a D4 discussion and relate to rallying in some way. Family Guy doesn't. I didn't bring up family guy. Besides, maybe it's just me, but when I'm rally racing, I'm not in a helicopter. Not until we get Safari Rally stages anyway. Imagine that for co-op...

The cars seems to be failing at different points with different drivers with different styles, but that's what I'd expect of a raft of brand new cars. Meeke's car is failing spectacularly. I can understand it not happening with Breen since he's probably driving a little more cautiously overall, but even the World Rally Blog post showed he's not immune at the same points that caught out Meeke. Aren't the i20 WRC and Yaris WRC effectively German and Finnish cars respectively? How much of the cars come from the factories? I thought just the shell and some of the body panels.

I apologize to Meeke for throwing shade in my last post. ;) World Rally Blog has a cogent analysis of the C3, and I don't know if you could blame anyone for crashing it. So, how is it that Citroën had a whole year to work exclusively on the C3, and has come out with the worst car? Hyundai built two new cars in the last two years and are almost leading the championship.

This season keeps delivering. Fantastic rally, really commendable work by Evans and Dmack, glad to see Evans making good use of his WRC seat. And like Sweden, great to see Ostberg enjoying himself again. Looks like Meeke is still using those Dirt Rally aero physics. That C3 sure holds on to its diffuser though, I wonder if Ostberg is taking notes. And I wonder how hard is Citroën going to push to sign Mikkelsen now..?

They won't let us encourage players to destroy their car. Therefore no 'Destroy your car' achievements.  Ah. As I figured then :) How about a Tried Your Best to Keep the Car in Mint Condition Wink Wink achievement? @KickUp slightly OT but something I've been meaning to ask, are all of Dirt Rally's delta achievement names actual quotes? If so, what generally were the sources (broadcasts, books, etc)?

DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

Partly it's about getting as close to the real thing as possible on the screen, and that includes seeing the damage (which can make it easier for some players to assess or intuit the handling effects of damaged or missing parts), on their own car and on their opponents' cars. Damaged parts on the track surface are a factor in real-life racing, so having parts able to break off are yet another element of real-life racing that the player can experience. Also partly because it's rad.

Why don't dg and Ryu get together and prototype a proof of concept? Development is always "not that hard" on this side of the keyboard.

I feel like I could put on some glasses, throw the switch on the time machine to the late 90's and see that in 3d. It's a schooner!

DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

I never had a problem with the default controller settings in PCars, from GT5 to LMP1 (don't mention the karts), though I didn't start playing that game until last summer if that makes a difference. OTOH I did have problems with the bugs of qualifying times not being recorded, the exploitable singleplayer, and the unclear and uncooperative career calendar.

Furthermore, when attempting to capture Owen Shaw, Brian O'Connor chose the RS1600, not the RS1800, which I think says it all.
