I love all the banter but lets not lose track of the main thing here:

Is the game fun. Thats why we play after all and it is a "game" we are talking about.
Yes the driving model must be satisfying but 99% of you have not driven a real race car in anger so your "opinion" on realistic handling models is worth about $0.01.

As someone who has raced since 97 I enjoy something that approaches real feeling, but that its fun and immersive. Some games you all consider "hardcore" sims have overly difficult driving models which in reality isn't the case. Real race cars are easy to drive and handle great and stick to the road. Its extracting that extra 10% on the limit which makes things hairy and challenging. But in general a setup race car with race tires is really hard to spinout or go off the track unless you are driving like a moron. This is why Iracing to me is a joke as being the most realistic.

Anyway I digress. Remember this is about fun and challenge and enjoying something even if its not 100% realistic. As long as they build that I think we will all be happy.
My experience says you're going to enjoy this one ;)
Are you one of the guys who got beta acess already? If yes When will you be able to talk about your experience?
Technically we were/are on a handling test.  We can talk a little about our impressions, i don't think anything specific though.
I think one of the biggest concerns is can you properly slide a car? In DR sliding an RWD car felt great, in D4 RWD's felt terrible. All I want to know is it closer to DR or D4 in that regard?
    The simple answer is YES.

also this is a public forum. wasnt aware we are only allowed to talk about topics regarding the game that you personally like.
This is the DiRTy Gossip thread, so the conversation must be directly related to new game gossip and @urgaffel code breaking only* ** ***.

    * Or kebab pizza.

    ** Or cake.

*** Or how tea is the best thing ever
Tea is wannabe coffee. It is known.
Excuse while I set our monarchy's corgis and swans on you, how dare you say such a thing. As a British citizen I am incredibly offended by this heinous comment and demand you be placed violently into the Tower Of London to live out your days in squalor with nothing more than Tesco Everyday Value coffee.

    Riff raff!

I'll take take Tesco Everyday Value coffe over tee, 7 days a week...

We need not worry about your monarchy. We have our own King to protect us!

  4. The only problem I see with a mixed tarmac/gravel stage and tyre choice in a game is that one is always going to be faster, and once you’ve worked out which one that is that’s pretty much the tyre choice done for the rest of your time playing.

I think spain will most likely be 100% tarmac seeing as it’s the only tarmac location in game. Hopefully we can see something like gravel being pulled onto the road from cuts like in real life, and that will act similarly to road deterioration will on the gravel events
Sadly I don't think we'll get mixed surfaces. Tyre choice will probably be down to hardness and different wet compounds.

  5. I'm gonna get back to speculating on stuff we know, I can't wait to hear/see more on the surface degradation. I've mentioned it a few times as it would really take the game to the next level and make it varied and fresh to drive on the stage if its slightly different each time, I'd be interested to see how this is implemented online as well. The only game I know of that really did this was Sega Rally Revo a number of years back, it was pretty cool to see the tracks made from the wheels and just gave it an extra nice edge.
I just hope road deformation doesn't become a gimmicky feature that is overdone. I don't want broken, rutted roads in New Zealand, where in reality the problem lies in loose gravel for the first few cars on the road, not torn up roads.

Don't know the Deluxe edition will be available at a retailer (in the Netherlands).
So each season DLC will have three tracks and five cars.

Pre-order the DiRT Rally 2.0 Deluxe Edition and receive:
    - 4 Days Early Access
    - Porsche 911 RGT Rally Spec
    - Upgraded 'My Team' starter cars
    - x5 Early vehicle unlocks added to your team garage

The DiRT Rally 2.0 Deluxe Edition also includes:
    Dirt Season I:
    x3 tracks
    x5 cars
    In-Game Bonuses
    High reward events

    Dirt Season II:
    x3 tracks
    x5 cars
    In-Game Bonuses
    High reward events
Nope, just comes unlocked in career mode I assume?

Regarding the “no snow stages” comments, perhaps the USA stages will be in Alaska?
Quite sure we will get Sweden as DLC also Germany, Finland, Wales, Greece and Monte Carlo
Thats some confidence considering there was absolutely 0 actual info to go off :P
In addition there will also be a DiRT Rally 2.0 Deluxe Edition which also includes the first two seasons of post-launch additional content, each with three locations.
Dirt Rally Locations are done and perfect, so why dont use them, it is Quite logical

Unless it is still problematic to include those stages as they are a carbon copy(oh well) of the real ones used in the WRC with possible legal trouble ahead.

Concerning the rallycross I see the blog post makes mention of  "cars from the 2018 season as well as eight of the official WorldRX circuits".

I assume that means that Lydden won't be in this game?
Nope, looks like it won't, and so won't Riga :(

THE OFFICIAL GAME OF THE FIA WORLD RALLYCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP – Race at Barcelona, Montalegre, Mettet, Lohéac Bretagne, Trois-Rivieres, Hell, Holjes and Silverstone in a multitude of different series.
Might be one of the DLC's?
Retro rallycross DLC with Group B cars and Lydden Hill?
Was thinking of Riga, but sure!  :D

Here's a couple of things I noticed in the trailer:

    1. The Argentina stage in that video shows a bridge like those on El Condor stage/s https://www.wrc.com/en/wrc/news/april-2015/recce-notes-argentina/page/2334--12-12-.html so they could be real-life stages as per Dirt Rally.

    2. The Audi Group B driver is female.
Real-life stages have been confirmed here.
Not really. Hand crafted yes, but we don't know if they are recreations of the real ones or not. Maybe just inspired?
Hand crafted is still gonna be better than generated

That, sir, I completely agree with :)

  12. I preferred Dirt 4's physics to Dirt Rallys. Once i learnt how to actually tune the obvious problems out of the cars. (notably around the differential) The base setting of the diff and the explanations were not clearly explained in the setup menu. I suspect that misinformation and the conservative base setups led to allot of peoples setups being counter to what they were expecting and hitting on the physics.
Setups could only solve issues to a certain point. They messed up the loose surface grip, there is not much to discuss really. The fact that the heavier R4 cars was the best of the lot just confirms that. They were heavy enough to at least break some lateral traction.

RWD was the worst of the bunch. Went from feeling awesome in DR to pretty much zero throttle oversteer in D4. If you managed to get sideways the grip regained so quickly you wondered what happened.

Tarmac felt slightly better, but there was still something odd about it. Central pivot feeling that was discussed earlier.

The cars felt the best at the Dirt Fish playground where it was mostly flat, broken tarmac and the cars was setup for gravel. There they actually made sense to drive.

On the plus side D4 handled high speed corners and crests better than Dirt Rally.

Nevermind, let's see what tomorrow brings. I have a feeling this could be a lot closer to the Dirt Rally feeling  ;)

  13. OH MY GOD. I've never seen/noticed those random rocks and animals crossing the road. I just took a look at some videos. Do they appear on all detail settings or do I need to turn something up to ultra?

Now I wish codies would turn up animal appearances for the night stages in Rally 2.0. Could you imagine seeing a deer only a few meters in front of you whlist going 200 kph in a Group B car? I've had encounters with animals IRL and they really do pump up your adrenaline!

They toned the animal encounters down quite significantly at some point, not sure why. Don't even know if they are still there at all to be honest.
