It's commonly known that if you want to be as fast as possible in racing sims, don't go for an authentic setup of your wheel. Low DOR and low FFB is the way to go. People even turn FFB off completely to be fast.dgeesi0 said:i guess someone was promoting it.just media. one thing that does make me chuckle is all the comments from wheel manufactures and people commenting about Fanatec and Thrustmaster expensive set ups are needed. when all or 90 percent of all the records broken in racing and rally games are done on cheaper logitech wheels :D. i guess you have to sell your product but if you dont know that your product isnt making the records dont say it is. :)

I really like the seasons system in Project Cars 2. Would be really cool if it could be implemented in a future Dirt.
A place like Monte would be a different rally if held in the summer. Sweden and Finland could be held as both gravel and snow rallies etc etc.
Probably a major task, but one can always dream :) -

I Hope,according to this tweet, https://twitter.com/Hatward/status/938451842501144576
this was postet on Dec.6 and they said in couple of weeks...
We should get news on update (DLC) very soon for Dirt 4? Who knows, maybe will be out for/before Christmas.. -
Hed did do a very negative piece on the iRacing Rallycross just prior to the shut down. Coinsidence?urgaffel said:
It's hard to claim you're an outsider when you're working in the industry. And writing negative reviews about competing products is a really really great way to get really really negative attention and could cause trouble for SMS. I'm not surprised that he got told to shut it down although it seems a bit drastic to take it offline.Marshymaller said:

From what he said on his twitter, he just wants to do industry stuff now and being an angry outsider isn't as fun now that he sees what it's like on the inside.LudwigVonMises said:1. Shutting shop2. Software update

Otherwise it might just have been a smart move by Mr Ian Bell. Give your biggest critic a job at the office. -
Behaves pretty much as the PC2 RX when you accidently go out on track with the circuit setup. No bite on the gravel at all.VirtuaIceMan said:In other news, I'm not sure iRacing's rallycross looks fun: https://pretendracecars.net/2017/12/06/youre-gonna-have-a-bad-time-iracings-rallycross/ -
Damn, I would love if they could start a project a support it for several years ahead and release new classes and countries along the way.
Oh, and Racenet is down for maintenance! -
Geez. Codies suspension seems to be as fragile as on the Hyundais.ChristinaMc said:

Wow. That's a lot more specific than "soon." o:)

Tidemand really deserves a shot. Regularly outpacing Suninen in WRC2. -
Yep. I can assure you it was rushed in every single possible way.carpa said:
The word that better describes DiRT 4 is "rushed" I think. With a little more development time it could have really been a good game. It would have also been better if it had decided what it wanted to be: a numbered and funny DiRT game with all sorts of rallycross and landrush and crazy challenges, multiplayer minigames and just a general fun and chilled atmosphere, adsadsads said:I would definitely not describe DiRT 4 as polished. It has a bunch of new features compared to Rally but they mostly need work.
-A whole bunch of cars that can't be used effectively in single player rally because AI time generation for your stage is borked.
-Team management that the game isn't properly balanced around. (I decided to go back and finish Rally part of triple crown, doing perfectly fine with an E rated crew chief and no engineers.)
-Team management that punishes the player by locking them out of using set-ups that they've put all of the effort into making.
-The default set ups being so awful.
-Frequently poor pace-notes with camber calls removed entirely but for some reason still mentioned in the tutorial.
-Pro tour's ridiculous over-punishment of disconnects.
-Sponsor system that doesn't take anything into account, for example always having a sponsor expect an overall win in every rally you've driven before regardless of class.
Polish is something this game is desperately lacking.
OR a sequel to DiRT Rally with the ambition and the focus on becoming the best and most complete rally sim ever made.
Thing is, for it being a numbered Dirt game it lacks the party atmosphere and fun. For us that loved Dirt Rally it lacks it's soul and "rawness". It's an in between that doesn't really satisfies anybody.
I'm pretty sure that many in the dev team are quite gutted about how D4 and it's reception turned out, but the big guys upstairs wanted a numbered Dirt title out, and fast. -
They rotate with the wheel. As I'm on the T500 base I still have the base fixed paddles though if I want to use them instead.Dytut said:
Now that looks nice! Do the paddles rotate with the rim or stay with the base? My biggest gripe with the standard T300 is that the paddles rotate with the wheel which can make it tricky to hit the right paddle at times, especially with high DOR. There's a reason they have the single paddle on the right in the WRC cars.bogani said:Did you guys see the Thrustmaster new rally rim? A 1:1 replica of the Sparco R383!
I've been using a real 350mm rim for quite some time and I really can't go back to the tiny standard 300mm rim, but not having buttons is problematic in some games. This looks like a nice compromise. -

Eyyyy, we need no sources. This is the gossip thread ;)Alf72 said:
Source? If they gonna move to a new Engine, it's the right time to make sure that the Engine supports Modding.bogani said:It will be built on a completely new engine and an will much like Assetto Corsa be an ongoing project, adding locations, stages and cars along the way for a substantial period of time. -
So,
I asked Paul if his visit at Petter Solberg's was gossip worthy and got the short answer "Yes".
So, the next game will be aimed at the fans that enjoyed Dirt Rally, but will be named Petter Solberg Rally or Petter Solberg Motorsport.
It will be built on a completely new engine and an will much like Assetto Corsa be an ongoing project, adding locations, stages and cars along the way for a substantial period of time.
Doesn't this sound sweet? :D -
I'm not sure when they stopped using the Virtual Spectator for WRC, but this is how it looked 2009. It pretty impressive how they mapped each stage for this feature with sattelite and GPS.
https://youtu.be/kj_U5jmHvlM
I guess the payed feature itself never really took off, but you could compare up to 7 cars at once on each stage of the WRC, getting telemetry data, comparing where they lost/gained time etc.
Let's just play with the thought CM had the WRC license and had access to all this data. They could create real stages without the need to research the actual stages by being out there. -
Really? Again?ipascal said:Hello,
Already Bravo for the view Helicopter that remains throughout our race and thank you.
I come to make a return on Dirt4 regarding the replay of our races, especially on the Helicopter view.
To improve the helicopter view:
- it would be necessary to have the possibility of zooming on the car using the analog joystick to have a precise zoom or if possible, do automatic zooms.
- it would be necessary that from time to time the helicopter could go to the side of the road to take side view of the car and not always last the car. (Looks like a parasail attached to the car right now)
- the helicopter sight should also be able to take the car more horizontal to have a more distant landscape. In the game currently it does it slightly when the car gets up, but not enough.
- it would also be necessary to have two helicopters to have different angles of view that would be good.
As I said before, take the example of the game WRC 2001 on PS2, this game has everything needed for replay except of course the playability and graphics of dirt 4, as I repeat in this one, This one has the possibility even for the plans tv camera to keep the view, as for example to keep the sight of the central cockpit or the view of the wheel during the replay.
You should give the players the possibility to keep the view of any view of the game, even that of the tv camera, because for the player it is frustrating not to choose his sight to see his race in the game, Angle that one wants.
In the game WRC2001 on PS2, there is the button that maintains the view and the button that allows to release the view and I can tell you that it is very appreciable.
In the game Dirt4, the slows of the TV view are predefined, the change of camera corresponding to each plot of the course. One can not choose on this part of the course the view TV that one wants in WRC2001 on PS2 one can.
Jaquette of the game WRC2001 on PS2:
https://www.google.fr/search?q=wrc2001+ps2&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwj5sqmvvsTVAhUEI1AKHZBlBlUQ_AUICygC&biw=1366&bih=608#imgrc=h-u1EwMgoaSRfM:
There is also in the game WRC2001 on PS2 a tracking view that follows the car where the camera is the route of the road following the car from 3 to 6 meters behind without sticking the car and not the game camera that sticks car. This view should be added.
Watch video by the minute 3:51 (chase)

Can you please add these improvements that are for me and for others very important?
Inspire yourself from WRC 2001 on PS2
Waiting for programmer return...PS:can you please hand in the next dirt 5 infection as in dirt 3 and try the suggestions mentioned above?
thank you.

Plowing through the WRC season 2005 and can't help to wonder about the Virtual Spectator feature they use. It looks pretty damn detailed. If there could be some clever ways to develop stages using the data from VS. *drooling* -

Why would anyone pronounce Fjord as Ford? It's not like it's a tounge twister.
This from the same people I've had arguments with about saying words correctly such as Jaguar. Or the people that say Jalepeno wrong. It's an enye with the ~ over the n.. it's not pronounced halapeenyo.
But sure, I say people say Fjord like Ford and everyone loses their minds!
I'm not the crazy one here alright!
You are!
And for the love of GOD! It is not Jag you are!
Let it out, don't let it build up inside you ;) -

Hoping that Tidemand gets a shot in a rally or two next year! He deserves it! -
Club patch still weeks away according to an answer on twitter.
-
There is a beta patch out for WRC7 with the added option of turning off the horrible dynamic FOV.
Pretty impressed that they listened and made it happen so quickly. -
I really love how the cars handle on the tarmac bits in DirtFish with gravel spec in D4.Underkex said:Suuuuper interesting. You can see how different is the oversteering with tarmac or gravel specs on the same surface.

Damn, these cars really act like 4WD GT3's on the smooth tarmac!
It's awesomely fast, but it still makes me miss the man handling of Grp A and earlier WRC's.. -
Østberg really doing well so far!
