  1. To be fair, the 037 in Dirt 4 is indeed easier to drive than the one in DR - but it does slap you around if you get cocky. One moment you're heading down the road, the next you're facing the forest. Throttle control still applies. The default setup makes it kind of understeery though.
How's the tarmac? Didn't get the impression you was very impressed?

just drove the 037 so easy compared to dirt rally.
Hmm. Just watched Porks 037 footage in Wales. Just as with the 2001 Impreza it almost feels like there is no wheel spin at all. You can yell "throttle control" all you want. It just looks a bit odd.

Did they tone down the gravel spray sounds btw??
When I watch videos of Dirt Rally, it always looks like it's much easier than it actually is. It's hard to see what exactly is going on in terms of throttle/brake control. I imagine it's the same with Dirt 4. I find it strange that so many people are already "judging" the physics from watching video, having not played the game yet.
Not judging anything until I try it out myself and I totally agree that it can look quite different than what it actually feels like.

The person at Codies who worked on the exhaustflames should get an award. Man I love how it spits fire and how it reacts within the environment!
\o/  (to be fair, I couldn't have done it without our ace graphics programers)

It looks a little bit like the car rotates around it's center instead of it standing on 4 wheels, kinda like the old CMR games.
Not sure whether to flag this as abusive, off topic or disagree... ;)

I have big experience in Richard Burns Rally so I dont think so ;) But really - its possible is this a sim handling? I hope that is gamer mode ;)
Nothing can beat RBR in simulation /s
No, aki1337 use a gamepad with simulation handling. I think it looks easier than it is, and he probably practiced a little before actual recording.
Yes but the car reacts so fast, grip is too good. I saw other videos, for example Fiesta R5 on gravel and it looks more realistic ;) Maybe because of that he using a gamepad ;) I cant wait for this game to test it myself and to end with RBR once for all :P
I have to agree with you here. The 2001 Impreza seems to have crazy grip. There is very little slip going on and as you say the car reacts extremely fast. I know he's on pad and that can make movements a bit twitchy, but there is massive amounts of grip to match the twitchyness.
Yep. I'm extremely pleased with what we've seen of the tarmac handling, but the gravel still looks far too grippy. It's a shame, because in RX the gravel looks like the real thing.
The R5 cars on gravel looks better though. Both the i20 in Australia and the Fiesta in Wales that was on the Dirt live show.

Watching these videos and not being able to play is like torture... yet I'm watching them anyway.
Yea I've stopped watching them. I want to be at least a bit surprised when I first play it. Things like the flock of birds coming out of nowhere, I didn't really want to know that would happen at some point.
But it's damn hard not to...
yep im keeping the game a surprise until i play it.watched some official trailers and a little bit with a heli cam replay rest wont watch.nothing like that launch special firing up a new game.would be interesting to hear the back ground story on the guy playing the game early.seen he does mods and stuff on other racing rally games .

I wanna be like you, I really want to.

    But I just can't help myself  :'(

Body is 5 characters too short.
Yeah that vid is truly epic.

The R5 cars seems to have proper sequential shifting in D4. Why is there a delay in cars like the Focus, 306 Maxi etc. when shifting? I truly don't understand that.

    Also, transmission whine FTW! ;)

such a great handling car.when we had one i took someone out in it and when on the snow at just over 100mph sideways i think his trousers changed color. :D

evos and scoobies are most fans favs but focus were very good.
    You do rally irl?
If it wasn't strapped in a rally car that just sounds reckless. Even more so if it was a public road.

Has anything changed with the FFB @KickUp or should we expekt the same as in DR?

What I would like to be different is the feel between tarmac and gravel. In DR the wheel is much heavier on the loose surfaces than on tarmac. This should be the opposite as there is more friction between the tires and the road on tarmac.
We've improved the system although the feeling is so dependent on your own personal expectations that I don't think I can promise you that you well get what you want from it.
I agree it's very much up to personal opinion in many ways, but I hope you get what I mean when talking about resistance on tarmac vs gravel. The wheel should be stiffer on tarmac.

Can't wait to try it out. Tarmac looks tighter in D4. Hopefully that has an effect on FFB as well :)

  12. The stuff by aki1337 looks good so far.

TV replay also looking good. But why aren't they always using the onboard cam behind both pilots whenever they switch to onboard for a short time?

The pilots eye view interlude is breaking the immersion for the TV replay. The cam for the view from behind  the pilots is already there and is used in reality too. Why don't they use it?

Yeah that bugs me too. If there is a point where the replay system can't find a trackside spot it should at least switch to the onboard cam behind the drivers, not the actual cockpit cam in front of the wheel.
