It is great, but the only reason they can do that is because the cars are not licensed. A real manufacturer would never let you do that to their cars!

It's repeated like a mantra without any proofs, though.
I don't think you are right. Especially if damage would be defined with enough effort to simulate real thing.
I would believe more in reason, that such models would impossible to be managed by casual players.

Show me one (ONE) game where you could destroy cars completely and the cars were officialy licensed.
It's not mantra, it's just how things are. Simple as that.

Now I can show you plenty of games with such destruction, WITHOUT licenses:
    - Carmagedon
    - Destruction Derby
    - BeamNG
    - GTA
    - do i really have to?

If you are justifying your statement only by your finding then it is very weak. See my note about casual players.
IMO main problem lays in encouraging players to drive in unrealistic way, by providing unrealistic mechanical damage. Setting damage to be realistic would force players to take more care about how they drive. In turn destroying cars would not be the case. However it would very likely impact playability and  then sales. So it's easier to blame manufacturers

I would love having really punishing damage in Fearless difficulty.

'I am the 7.7 per cent' is hands down the best!

I think we actually changed the percentage depending on the platform.  :p

Who's responsible for naming "The nightman cometh"? Give this person a raise.

    That will be Hatward

    I love you @Hatward <3 o:)

I'm guilty for most of this list but the Always Sunny reference actually came from our web designer Kev (@pixelpusher87 on Twitter).

@CMMcBabe and @KickUp also chipped in with some choice suggestions. :D

Oh. Please send the love you got from me to Mr Kev instead ghen.

    ;)

Hmm. RX cars movement looks to me very artificial. I'm not sure it's because of steering method, aids enabled or something else. Sometimes the car swings on tires, rapidly changing direction, because tires don't loose enough grip. Check out VW at 6:58.
Another thing is damage. Contact causes no damage but scratches. Again I assume it might be a consequence of particular session settings.

I actually agree to some extent here. To me the wheel movements looks very rapid, almost like he is using a controller even though he's on a wheel. The low FPS doesn't help either.

Sub 1 minute times on stages should automatically be binned and never appear on the leaderboards at all as they are impossible. Maybe Codies could implement certain parameters that have to be met to even appear on the leaderboard at all?

We do that on our own leaderboards but we can't on the platform holders.

    So reassuming:
    1. Your own leaderboards - cross platform.
    2. You'll implement an automatic filter-out system which will ban users who had stage times quicker than X:Y:Z
    3. Leaderboards will be moderized manually anyway (eg. after viewing a player report)

    Did I missed something? :)

    2. We filter them out but we don't auto ban. That is managed on a case by case basis.

Sounds reasoneable. Freak thing can always occur I guess.

They are our own leaderboards now. We aren't using Sony or Microsoft leaderboards so we'll be able to police them ourselves.

AFAIK the console versions are cheat free due to... well, being consoles. It's the PC side that has cheating issues.

Oh, you'd be surprised how many cheat times are on PS4 leaderboards that weren't deleted.

Really? How does that work? Cutting is the only thing I can think of?

Will there be jumps like in Finland in the Michigan and Wales ,Australia, Sweden stages.
    Kenny.

Nothing that extreme, that said I've seen some pretty amazing flat out straights over big crests that do give significant air.

Also worth noting that our cars deal with being airborne a lot better now.

Sounds lovely. I prefer big high speed crests that lifts the car juuuuuust enough to hear the rpm raise, over huge bouncy finish jumps.

    ;)

  7. The width of the roads will be affected because of the difficulty settings of Yourstage? Because hearing that there will be super flat out stages it sounds mega cool, but if they are wide it won't be mega cool LOL

As I understand it the width will pretty much be decided by which location you choose. Wales will generally always be more narrow than the stages you generate in Michigan due to that Michigan irl use wider roads.

An exceptionally trivial question for @KickUp, but have the trophy/achievements been decided upon yet? Any subtle (or not so subtle) references for forum members to look out for?

Yes and yes. May or may not be covering it in a Road Book, who knows.

    :D

A detailed reply which confirms nothing: @ChristinaMc has definitely mastered Codemasters forum policy.

Unless she's been smarter than all of us and hidden the clues in previous things again >___>

    You might be onto something.

Will there be more footage before release?! :open_mouth:

    Say yes.

  9. If  I got to choose I would like Codies to support D4 a year or two with new locations and car packs as DLC.

Locations like Germany/Finland should be fairly easy to add to the Your Stage generator as they have the existing assets laying around. I'm not implying it's easy btw, more that it's not as big pain in the azz as creating a totally new one ;)

All they need is one accurate stage per location.  The location could then be bulked up with virtual stages.

Yes, it took a crazy amount of time, but didn't it pay off?  The stages in DiRT are awesome!

You wanted them to go for accuracy with the WRC license and use Your Stage in their DiRT games, isn't that what you wrote?
