    Wait, what?

Yes exactly. The whole article is a big WAT.
I find it fascinating the managed to talk about Mario Kart and Grand Theft Auto in a piece on Project Cars 2.

  2. I've just read a very strange piece of text about Project Cars 2 Rallycross.

It's an interview from Gamereactor. I'll try to translate it word for word.

Rallycross as a motorsport has become very popular, especially last year, and we also the interest among the players. It's fast, a race takes about 5 minutes, the jokerlap adds a dynamic that reminds of the fun in Mario Kart. It's full of small cars that constantly crashes in to each other, crazy jumps and bends that are are made for powerslides and it's all over in 5 minutes, which makes it accessible.
The sport has lots of young racers as well as old legends and the cars are faster than Formula 1 cars (the accelerate 0-60 in 2 seconds). Big brands like Monster and and Red Bull sponsors which makes it epic. It's exciting and we felt we really wanted to include it in the game and to transition from pure asphalt to rallycross is a great way as it's half asphalt half gravel.

I asked how they would balance between sim and arcade -

"What we tried to do is to create a balance between real life and accessibility. It should feel and look real but to succeed with that rallycross should be driven with with all different aids turned off which is way to comlex for most gamers. If you turn all aids off you will probably just spin the car around in the same place. With that in mind we created the setting "Real" where you can use anti spin and stability help with the cars that use it while the cars that does not have that but is better with aids stays without it.

Rallycross as a sport is very sideways and it's fun without feeling arcadey. It won't be, for example, like Grand Theft Auto where you can yank the handbrake and slide through corners and such. It's all about authenticity while making it accessible.

Hopefully it's just the reporter that has put his notes together extremely poorly, otherwise it's one of the stranger things I've read in a while.

Am I alone here not finding turbos and ALS as intriguing as tuned NA cars?

Is there anything more boring than watching a whole field of Group N Mitsubishis going past you in the stages? Low mumbling engine note and a few pops here and there.

    Shots fired!  :#

Police were again been called to the DiRTy Gossip thread today. They arrested @bogani for breach of the peace and charged him with talking nonsense.

Whilst locked up, Police made him watch this on repeat:

    That's not a Mitsubishi though ;)

NA engines are like practical effects and turbos like CGI. CGI can be kinda good but nothing beats practical effects.

Well, if by tuned NA cars you mean massive V8, V10 (especially those) and V12's, then yes, I'm with you. Otherwise, I do like me some nice charging methods. That said, NA doesn't have this issue:

I'm more of a 4-6 cylinder kinda guy, but I don't mind some V8's thrown in the mix.

RX seems to have had the most drastic change for D4, I used it minimally in DR but look forward to it now.  The 'scale' of the tracks seem a bit more believable now.  They seemed narrow and short before but I may have just imagined that difference.

What I do look fwd to though, is 2wd Rally, both front and rear wheel drive.  I won't be using 'game' mode, but can't wait to try the 'rookie/beginner' class R2's in full sim spec.  The Adams are rapid & the wee 3-pot Fiestas sound fantastic on the stages.  The R2 class will provide great racing demanding proper skill I reckon!

Do you want to add more anxiety? Just see this vid and you Will go to Codemasters HQ to steal a copy now LOL

The view from the side windows makes it look a lot faster than it is. If you cover those up so you can only see the windscreen it doesn't look quite as fast! Still driving at a fair speed though.

Thats because triple screens are not supported in that mode

You can get a similar effect with triples and high FOV. It looks crazy fast. Not very representative of real life though ;)

Both are WIP so, can always improve, but comparing the PCars 2 RX video and the video where SlapTrain drives the Focus RX, i can say that the car/engine sounds of the Focus RX are way, way better. I know it isn't the exact same cars, in both videos, so it isn't a fair comparison but still...
Not only that, Driver animations, while switching gears and using the handbrake, are better too, in D4.
In any way, competition is always good...

The key thing for me is that the World RX drivers loved what they played in Barcelona. Petter and especially Oliver Solberg are definitely our harshest critics and they have said we are as good as it gets. I can't say if they have played PC2 but I'm quietly confident we are where it's at.

Yeah, Oliver does seem like a harsh critic. He still wasn't completely happy  with the rally portion in the WRX video posted on Facebook, but RX was thumbs up and a massive improvement over DR.

Timur Timerzuanofvsksihsubohs seemed genuinely impressed and looked to have an awesome time as well. Seems like a really fun guy btw :)

Small question, can we completely remove the UI during replays? It would be easier to take screenshots that way.

Yes, there's a toggle in the replay options.

Will we also be getting replays for Rally Cross, Landrush and the Dirt Fish area? Please say yes! :#

Everything but Dirtfish is a yes as far as I know. No idea about Dirtfish.

My biggest question is if there is a replay after Rallycross online!?

Thats good news (if youre right) would you be able to comfirm what replays we'll be getting @kickup?

P.S. some one broke the forum  :|

Online Rallycross will have spectate mode so events can be broadcast.

    No replays in DirtFish.

I'll take as there won't be any watchable replay after each heat like offline.

    Broadcast/spectate sounds awesome though!

Can you run full event structure online?

Sadly not as it doesn't fit with a lot of the matchmaking systems on console. You can run heat or semi final/final formats though so as the host you can run three Qualifiers and then switch to two semi-final/finals.

Ah okok. How many cars can enter an online RX event?

8 players in a lobby so you see why proper format becomes an issue.

We have some additional spectator slots.

Ok! Yes I do see that. A wee bit disapointing to be honest. Think about a large field of supercars battle through heats, semis and finals together in an online league event. Would be so cool!

One for the future maybe ;)

    Interesting article and hmmmm

    1) will we have Peugeot 206 or 307cc?

    2) Heard rumor no car models from Citroen?

We haven’t released the official and final car list yet, so you’ll have to wait and see. ;)

Yup. This makes me believe we might be in for a surprise and that Alexander Wiik wasnt't wrong at all but rather made a mistake of putting it in the article.
He then had to make a an excuse to why he mixed things up.

    ;)

SO SORRY for oftopic, i would click on quote :( sorry again  is there way to delete that click, please anyone?
Alexander Wiik had play same build as Barcelona Build? if so, there is confiremd 3 cars to be in up to 2000ccm Class so that ruled out in my opinion

Indeed, but the car list is still yet not finalized so who knows what will happen ;)

Also, the DS isn't that a brand of it's own now? Disconnected from Citroen?

There were several features missing in DR I was really wanting to come in DLC or a successor. But right now it's confirmed by @KickUp that none of them we will see. At least in initial release, which in some cases is almost equal to never:
    1. longer stages
    2. replays
    3. 3 monitor support (powered by nVidia SMP)
    4. Rift/Vive support

    What about replays? Elaborate.

Despite what the rest of the world perceives we are not all gun toting, pickup driving, beer drinking... etc.. Rally racing here, as everywhere brings people of all types out to see watch.  Not trying to be critical of something so minor, but it just irked me to see.

Yeah, but those are the best kind. Guns are fun, Pickups are remarkably useful, and who doesn't like a good pint?

Mmkay yeah. Guns are "fun" as long as they are in the right hands. But it's not to discuss in this thread.

  15. I've noted something on the setup screen. The toe setting uses in and out beside the actual slider but in the description negative and positive. I'm not saying it's factually wrong, but it's more confusing than it needs to be.
Imo the description should use in and out rather than negative and positive.

    Just a thought @KickUp :)
