so grid like.
also how will leadboards work for top times as with such varition or people playing my stage how will we know what are the top times ?
Leaderboards will only feature for the curated tracks used in the career and those used in Competitive events (until they expire)
We have separate leaderboards for Gamer and Sim handling.
The top time will be at the top of the leaderboard ;)
If I save a stage I like and share it with friends, will they be able to see my time so they can try to beat it?Will we be able to see our own best times for a saved stage?

Michigan rally stage and Cross Karts in Holjes Sweden.- Body is 26 Michigans too short.

@KickUp Watching this video of Michigan, I noticed there are a lot of spectator pickup trucks on the side of the road. Although we drive a lot of them here, at rally events you see a lot of spectators driving Subarus (all models, outbacks etc). Also we use Mercedes Sprinters for Ambulances as well as Ford/Chevy vans. Of course there are other cars to, but you will see Subarus more than not. So my question is it a licensing thing that you can't used 2008, 1995, etc cars that you already have occasionally parked, or even have some cars. I know you cannot, nor need to have licensed cars for scenery and many generic look-a-likes are good, some variety is nice.
Despite what the rest of the world perceives we are not all gun toting, pickup driving, beer drinking... etc.. Rally racing here, as everywhere brings people of all types out to see watch. Not trying to be critical of something so minor, but it just irked me to see.
We don't license our spectator cars and to avoid having very European looking ambulances and compacts we elected to do this. Apologies if it seems like we are being ignorant but it was the lesser of two evils.

Not sure what you mean? Daily leaderboards will be divided through gamer and sim. Top time on top obviously?
Doing a "your stage" there will only be a leaderboard if you save and share it I guess. -

This year's Shakedowns are a joke :( nobody is pushing, everybody are saving tires for powerstage, expecialy for this round.

Sordo
To be fair I see now reason for the power stage at all. You only risk to make a silly mistake. -

Had a look at the vid with the RX car of Bakkerud at dirtfish. Very disapointing to see the bonnet fly of with no real reason. I've seen that in other games and it looks soooo arcade. In real life the bonnet rarely goes of except in the first 100 meters when a mechanic didn't fit it right. B)
@kickup is this also in dirt 4 using simulation? If so please re-think...
@kickup, do/can mechanics make mistakes when repairing and servicing the car?
We eject the bonnet as we can't simulate it hitting the windscreen yet. It's our most elegant solution as leaving it on can cause clipping issues. Also, some people think it looks cool ;)
Mechanics can underestimate how long repairs take so you might end up getting a penalty for leaving service late.
The mechanics underestimating part sound great. The whole service/repair system is turning out pretty much all I could hope for :) -
Are you able to mention anything about online RX? Can we run full events? Are there replays this time? @KickUp -

@KickUp Last question though.....Have replays improved over the ones of Dirt Rally and is it possible to see only the tv-style replay without switching back to the car itself?
Yes, confirmed few times in a last few pages.
The ISRTV guys stated replays were the same as in DR when I asked them. I'm not sure that's completely accurate though as it's been stated we have different options this time. -
What I don't get is how people waste so much of their time hating on other people. If you don't actually like the guy that's fine, just step away, but spending good amounts of time just to insult and hate is what makes internet such a crappy place. -

I agree about Slaptrain, I used to think he was loud and obnoxious but watching him more, he is a very humble and genuine guy who just likes to have fun.
The main reason why I don't watch him is because he's one of the "LET'S SHOUT ABOUT EVERYTHING IN THE MOST ANNOYING AND OVERHYPED WAY POSSIBLE!!!" YouTuber's out there. For me to watch him for more than 5 seconds, I need to throw something through the window. So watching him is an expensive thing for me xD
Yup. He's obviously not a bad guy, I just can't stand the shouting.

The lightning look absolutely fantastic! Sadly they didn't show the replays.
Oh, and the setups now have real values connected to them. Love it!
I kinda hope we won't be able to smoke the AI competition like we can in DR. Some sort of adaptive AI or a percentage slider would be the best. -

Yo! According to this article written by the same guy who made the 208 video clams that we'll get both the Peugeot 206 wrc and the Seat Cordoba wrc in the game!!

here is the particular text poorly translate for you english types
Also part of the rally-the game has been given a powerful upgrade, and the biggest news is the much-discussed stage-generator, the so called "your stage", which generates new special stages in a matter of seconds, and that makes you constantly have new stages available. You choose yourself how complicated the legs should be in terms of length, weather type and complexity. What little we had tested this gave an incredible taste, and some amazing special stages was generated.
on the car front is what separates DiRT from the 4 most DiRT Rally that R5 is the most exclusive class what new cars is concerned, this because of licenses. But the players get the opportunity to enjoy themselves on the many thousands of stages that can be made with cars like the Ford Fiesta, Hyundai i20 R5 R5, Mitsubishi Space Star R5 and Peugeot 208 R5.
For those who like classic rally cars, they can also run with many group a-cars in addition to the WRC-2000 's was from. Here there are also some news, where the cars that are available are: Subaru Impreza WRC 2001 Ford Focus WRC 2001 Ford Focus WRC 2007 Peugeot 206 WRC 2001 Seat Cordoba WRC 2000
in DiRT Rally were several who missed a class with front-wheel drive cars, which now comes in DiRT 4. R2-the class will be introduced where you get the opportunity to try themselves in one of the most popular classes in the rally, both nationally and internationally. So after a few trips with the game is the first impression that it's going to be very good, and a game that will be easy to slay many hours on. Either to build up their own team through career mode, or if you want to run some stages or cross one can rally race jump right into the joyride mode. Are you a technician and happy in testing has also a giant test site available where one can change the layout, playing around or tweak running technique on paths with cones. When we tested the game was in the so called "gamer mode", an option that makes the game easier with less focus on simulation. Although we definitely prefer simulation section that we have in DiRT Rally, was also the gamer mode also very entertaining. The game has of course also a simulation mode, which we unfortunately did not get to test, but that said to follow the clues to the DiRT Rally. The conclusion for the little test is that we had a very good first impression, and that for once we can hope for a few rainy days in the summer as well.
My god that would be awesome! Paul did post pictures of these two cars.
As they can't get the modern gen WRC's it would be great if they could flesh out the former era of cars as much as possible. -
The asphalt stuff does look like it feels tighter than DR. Hard to tell by just watching though.
I agree with the console FOV question. Why it would affect performance. People usually want to decrease the FOV, which means less peripheral vision. Just keep in between reasonable limits. -
At the same time Janis Baumanis seem to have said that braking was the biggest difference from Dirt Rally to Dirt 4. In a positive way. So Timur maybe just was nitpicking that the braking points wasn't exactly at the same places as IRL while shifting points were.RyuMakkuro said:
Sounds like brakes in DiRT 4 are overpowered. Codies nerf plz xDbogani said:Did say that the braking points seemed to be a bit off though. -
Timur truly seemed to enjoy it. He looked fast too! From what I could hear he said that the car behaved like the real thing, especially out of corners. Even the shifting points were at the same places. Did say that the braking points seemed to be a bit off though.
Oliver praised the RX but wasn't completely happy with rally :open_mouth: -
I remember the first Toca games. You had to place high to go through to the next round.
Always enjoyed to ram Bintcliffe with Rydells Volvo ;) -
What about sounds? Any significant improvements you're happy with? @soundfx -
When WRC goes electric I'll check out. The agressive sound echoing through the forest is half the experience. -

Guessing that's our lot for today.
When it comes to stage length, I wonder if loading time is one of the issues that prevents the stage from being longer? I've read somewhere that Sony/Microsoft have certain guidelines for this. -
Will the cars carried over from DR get any graphical attention? Some cars seems a bit dated. The 2001 Focus's interior looks very low res compared to other cars.

There was a practice option in DR.iAmKing144 said:Has anyone heard whether or not the rallycross tracks will now have a practice option? It was annoying in DR that the only way to learn the track was while racing other cars. -
That's why they should go get the one of the GC8 based WRC's ;)SirPhilMcKraken said:It sounds like Subaru isn't difficult to licence in the game which makes it interesting in that case

Still curious about this though as setups/tires are surface specific. Does this mean you can play around on tarmac with a gravel spec car with gravel tires and vice versa? @KickUp
Hooning around on tarmac with a gravel spec car in rally school would be awesome :)
