Still curious about this though as setups/tires are surface specific. Does this mean you can play around on tarmac with a gravel spec car with gravel tires and vice versa? @KickUp -
This has probably been answered. Are there both tarmac and gravel in the rally school area?KickUp said: -
Without the auto clutch interfering. I feel ya!Didzis said:Like if I wanted to use it like a normal manual with clutch. Since I have a DFGT, which only has 2 pedals, I add another wheel just for the clutch pedal, already tried that in DiRT and it works, but I can only use it as an override, because DiRT doesn't have an option for manual seq + clutch (I don't have a H-shifter).
In something like Live for Speed I can set it up like that, with just the up and downshift buttons and a manual clutch and it wouldn't even let me shift if I don't press the clutch and it would stall, if I stopped in gear, without depressing the clutch
Basically what I want is for a way to drive manual+clutch in DiRT, if you don't have a H-shifter -

That is amazing news. Does this mean that people that gets a little too frisky on daily events can have their time removed -- or recieve a penalty? Not sure what the punishment would be in reality as I've yet to see it occur...KickUp said:
It has.RallyDriven said:

Ah man, there were too many missed opportunities of spectacular crashes at pikes peak because of those resets in dirt rally.warpengage said:@RallyDriven As long as there aren't reset lines that will teleport your car instead of allowing you to crash away.
You can spend as long as you want stuck off track and choose if and when you want to recover.
You can also go further off track before hitting reset lines.
We do still police corner cutting though.
No penalties there. He nearly got a reset and 15 seconds though ;)
Meeke received a 1 minute penalty 2014.

Mikkelsen got a 5000EUR fine for cutting the same year. No penalty in the rally though but a warning of exclusion if it happens again.

It's not that long for the end of the month afterall. we're halfway therewarpengage said:
That's why they're called "Open" :).tbtstt said:Yeah, the US "Open" regulations are much looser than their FiA equivalents!
Anyway, I'm going to be driving the R2 and R5 classes, basically. Even though I think I've had a good guess at the cars that are coming, still looking forward to the car list toward the end of the month to confirm stuff. And, of course, hope liveries abound for those cars.
Are we getting a car list at the end of the month? :O -
It would be so awesome if D4 could include a great selection of pre 1600cc WRC cars along with the newer R5/R2 classes. That would mirror the field of many rallies outside the WRC's. Make it happen, take my money!warpengage said:Hello @KickUp ! Hope you don't mind me asking but is there anything you can share with us regarding the "Up to 2000cc" class? Have you managed to keep what you had from DiRT Rally? Do you have something new (no need to specify)?
-
Yeah. That Focus does remind of the current spec WRC's with it's beefy front and rear spoiler.SimVansevenant said:The best looking car of the last 20 years is the 03-05 Focus WRC. That car was mean looking. It has always been my favourite. The version before that was also stunning but that had more to do with the combination of the car and the livery. -
Career stages are fixed so I suppose it should work there?SirPhilMcKraken said:
This would only work though if the stages are always the same but with this track generator, I don't know how it would be implemeneted. I think he said you could saves stages though and upload?WhiteWagon said:I decided to spend my snow day at Monte Carlo instead. Just running every car down the Route De Turini Descente.
Which gives me a suggestion for @KickUp:
Would it be possible in D4 to see your best times with each car on a single stage?
As in-
Route De Turini Descente
1. 2:37.834. Seat Ibiza F2 kitcar
2. 2:38.422. 2001 Ford Focus
3. 2.44.278. Ford Escort MKII
4. 2.44.870. Renault Alpine A110
The only way to do this now is to write on a piece of paper. It'd be nice to have a chart or table in-game. -
From the rear the Yaris looks horrible yes. They could merge the Fiestas front with the rear of the Yaris. That would be one ugly car.tbtstt said:
Hell no! The Yaris is the ugliest by far (that isn't to say that I don't like it, it just looks like a shoe box!).bogani said:The more I see the Fiesta the more I think it's the ugliest car in the field. The front spoiler is hideous.
i20 <3
I do think the Hyundai looks good, but it's the least radical looking of all the new cars in my opinion. I was torn between the Fiesta and the i20 as my fave looking car, but I'm still favouring the Fiesta: it just looks bonkers with all the aero!
Yuk. -

Ogier will continue being on the Podium each event. I'm afraid he'll be far ahead in the end. -
How far fetched is it to take existing assets from, let's say Germany in DR and use those assets with the new "Your Stage" system? Is it viable? @KickUp -
Meek is even faster :)Dytut said:Love Ogier's idea of just ignoring the warning and driving fast :-) -

Yes. Tuned NA engines is the best soundtrack you can get :)RodgerDavies said:Teuchter said:Anyone wish S2000 cars were going to be included to D4. Loved driving them in D3, flat out was the only way to get most out of them.
I prefer the R5s if I have to make the choice, but would be happy if it was an RC1 class mixing R5, R4 and S2000s. The only reason for wanting the latter is the sound though; those things sounded incredible compared to the newer generation.
To be honest, Ford, Peugeot and Skoda all have R5s, so it would seem a bit redundant. -

Definitely, I think I watched the same video you didDytut said:Just saw onboard from Meeke, and it did look much more settled and controllable than earlier.
Where?! -
The only option I see is if the cars would have performance indexes and that you could essentially add ballast to cars to even them out when running private leagues?
I want it to stay authentic, but it would be cool to have the option.

Any chance to elaborate on the improvements to the tarmac tire model? @KickUp -

The time lapse bit of Wales in the last video looked very very good with a whole different feel to the stage in different conditions.KingOfCoins said:Luckily due to Your stage. And how much the weather will affect the atmosphere of the stage. If you use your imagination you can double the amount of locations. Sweden can become Norway, Wales can become Scotland, Spain can become the Canary Islands. And so on -
Don't worry. Plenty of trees will still be hit ;)carpa said:RallyDriven said:
So no more travels to the moon when something (usually my driving) goes wrong? I'll miss a bit that horrible sensation of taking off straight into a tree hahaGoing airborne in dirt 4 did feel a lot better. The cars felt heavy in the air, and didn't fly to the moon. That in addition to better edges of the road that no longer catapult you into the sky make the game a whole lot better! -
My point was that it would require the least amount of work from the devs as they already have the assets laying around.AnegloPlz said:
As much as I loved both Monte and Germany in DR, I'd rather go for some new locations: Indonesia, New Zealand, Safari rally, Ireland, Sardinia....the list could go on forever XDbogani said:Now that the Your Stage tech is developed, maybe there is a slight chance of locations as Monte and Germany will make a return in the future. They have all the assets from DR to use for these locations.
One can dream eh ;)
I would also love totally new locations ofc :)
