@KickUp Probably this will go under the radar asking this at this time of day, but is it possible for Your Stage to create variations to the flow of the track. Like starting with high speed sections and ending in more technical inside the same track.

I'm waiting Dirt 4 and it's new features so much that other racing games does not seem to be "delivering" joy so much anymore, especially in the career mode front. Anybody else noticing same?
(Maybe ME:Andromeda and outdoor activities will keep me occupied until release. )
There is always grid 1 to play too..

Keep us the good work Codies!
Ps. I'm wondering if there is anybody still working in Codemasters that also worked in making "game" called Music 2000? Thanks to that piece of software and to people who worked on the game, i was able to start my music career as a youngster !
You won't get that level of control over the way a stage is generated. We may introduce more of this later on but for now the variables are length and complexity.

As for Music 2000... I think there might be some but I don't think they worked directly on the title. They will have worked on the Box Art and there may be some testers left.
Hopefully there will still be some variations when generating. So a fully complex stage have some fast sections in it as well.

  2. I also think that the swedish stages in DR were narrower than the WRC stages for example, these are quite wide and sweeping. I think the narrowness is part of the reason I don't really race sweden that much, you have to be so dead accurate and it can go wrong so easily and I just get frustrated lol
Yeah, Swedish roads are quite similar to Finlands in flow and character, maybe not as wide all the time but still.

@KickUp Will the location chosen influence how complex or how fluid a stage can be?

Yes, each location will have its own characteristics that will determine these factors.

@KickUp Very interesting. Based on this, which locations would you consider slow rallies and which would you consider fast rallies?
If the rallies reflect real life none of them would be considered slow like Greece/Monte in DR.

With 13km max stage length the really fast stages won't last that long. Would be nice to have at least the length of the finnish stages when generating fast roads.

    @KickUp

Not sure if this was asked already... The cars will have any kind of upgrades, in D4?

I found a bit silly, how the car upgrades worked in DR ( very Arcade ), apart of being a grind ( drive X Kilometers, unlock Y ).

It's probably, more complicated to simulate, and get it right, but i'd like to see a system where we upgrade/buy better Turbos, Differentials, Brakes, Exhausts, etc.

Parts will upgrade durability not performance. So they will perform at their best for longer.
@KickUp Will the default cars in freeplay have already maximum durability on them?
In free play you will get a loan car from one of the teams. The team will determine the part quality.
@KickUp  Interesting. So factory teams like Audi, Peugeot, Citroen (if you by any chance have it), i.e. official liveries will have the highest quality parts?
That is a fair assumption but not all cars will have factory teams.
Hopefully the Fiesta R5's wing will be more durable than the new WRC car ;)

  5. FIA: "Let's make cars quicker!"

Also FIA: "Hey, these cars are quick... didn't see this coming"

Must say, Facebook Live is amazing for rallying, thanks to the dedicated folk out there streaming, it's the next best thing to being stage-side. It's arguably better than WRC+ seeing as it shows the R5 cars and has no Jon Desborough.....
Can't stand Kon Desborough either. Gladly there is Swedish TV covering the live stages so I don't have to stand him ;)

Gotta love Östberg. The only one really going for the jump!

Just saw this one now, nice interview to read:

But the most interesting question, IMO, was this one:

LMSA : Will you model Luke Harvey’s Peugeot 106 GTI in DiRT 4? Do you have any future projects as co-driver or as driver ?
    PC :
Sadly not, we have introduced the Peugeot 205 GTI as there are probably more of those used in junior competitions than the 106. I’m hoping to do some more co driving with Luke or Jon Tucker later this year or early in 2018. Hopefully I can get a few more finishes because I’m hoping to upgrade to an International FIA Navigator license soon.

Sadly we won't see @Rallycameraman Peugeot, but @KickUp plans for the International FIA Navigator license sounds awesome!

As it was in french I had to use the translator.

Smuts Rally/Smuts 4. That is pure awesomeness!

Disclaimer: Only Swedes will get this one ;)

The article is in English too in the end... :joy:
Ahhh don't spoil the fun ;)

    Smuts means dirt, right?
    Yep! Or well.. kind of.

There's dirt on the floor = det är smuts på golvet. Dirt = Smuts
This is a dirt track = det här är en grusbana. Dirt = Grus
Put the casket in the dirt = Lägg kistan i jorden. Dirt = Jord
But dirt isn't really gravel. Gravel is gravel ;)
