DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

At least that was basically the answer to my question of "Is there any hope of Quattro E2 ever appearing in the game or we should abandon that boat?". Why are you speaking to me like im an idiot. Do you honestly think I dont know what cars came with the pikes peak update? Thats not the car I was refering to and that has been made clear already before your comment. Its not even like the 22b situation where its clearly the wrong name, theres no clear cut official name of the quattro we're talking about. Yes its generally know as the E2 but its still an S1. We've been through this loads already.   As ive already said i wrote a quick comment and missed out the suffix.  So yes I was talking about the S1 E2. Thats the car I believe we were told may make it to the game.

What a great competitor. I was a little surprised to see that photo, didn't think Ogier would be like that, but that's very much changed my opinion on him, true sportsmanship I think it being the first event of the championship and the fact he has it pretty easy generally anyway, had a lot to do with it, but yeah was good to see that. Or he may have been on the phone to his mate who put the rock there, just confirming the kill ;)

Same with Subaru, they haven't been in the WRC for years, but they have an awesome contingency program and they dominate the national scenes, so they are still synonymous rally performance. Since the WRC is now basically another European championship with a couple rounds overseas, it has lost a lot of relevance for manufacturers that want to target markets outside the EU. I dont think theres ever been more than 5 rallies outside ofeurope on the wrc calender (perhaps one exception i cant find), and theres 4 this year, so that hardly a big difference. 4 out of 14 isnt exactly "only a couple of rounds either. Yes the majority is in europe, but thats due to it being the main cultural centre for rallying, plus with such a variety of climates and landscapes within a small area, its not as though its visiting too many similar events by staying mostly throughout europe. Take into consideration that the entrant numbers would dramatically fall at most non european countries, as well as spectator numbers. Unfortunately the trend in motorsports is very much in cost-cutting mode, and that spreads to the actual places they travel to to compete.

Ive always found it very arogant that they called it the GLOBAL RallyCross Championship. What is global about it? It just enhances the stereotype for america being full of arogant, stupid people who think they are the best and/or only thing going on in the world. Which is sad when there are plenty of absolutely great people from america, but they're just represented so appalingly.

PaloSamo said: Is there any WRC rally in US? I don't think so... Ford dont just sell cars in the US though do they? Ford are a household name in rally throughout the years and its strange that they no longer care, especially when they are doing all sorts of motorsport to promote their new small ecoboost engines, which would suit the current and next wrc regs well. They also have a long running tendancy to produce hot hatches, and again what better sport to promote a hot hatch than by running one in competition on the world stage.... stages. This is why its weird that they a currently so disinterested.

I've never seen/heard/read an interview of him where he's stated how great he is. He always comes across as an extremely humble and grateful person. And is well aware of the differences between Gymkhana and rallying. I could understand if he was some arrogant little ****, but it doesn't appear to be that way at all. I cant speak for everyone, but my issues with him for a long time wasn't Ken himself. It was his fans treating him like he is the greatest rallydriver to ever live because of the gymkhana videoes. The GRC didn't help either who hyped him up just as much. That faded when I saw him on his own in WRX in 2014 ironicly enough. Im pretty sure this is exactly the problem people have with "him". Not him himself, but his image as projected by the unknowingly ignorant populace, as "the best driver eva dude!"

Anyone else, feel like the championship will loose something when Kubica leaves it after Monaco? Yes he's not been successful, but he's only been rallying 5 years or so... and is certainly right up there for pace when hes not in a ditch. (and arguably the quickest on tarmac) He is certainly one of the most exciting drivers to watch.

This came to me in a meeting (yeah yeah) and when i came back to check, you two already had it :D  I think it will be an association with the McRaes and maybe even the anniversary Group N WRX used in Rally Wales GB by David Higgins. It fits with what Paul said, especially in his follow up and it would be nice to see :) BrySkye said: I'll throw my hat in then. Liveries. I've known for a while that any new cars driven by Colin or RB was pretty much off the cards, but efforts were ongoing to secure more liveries that they had driven. So that could be Colin's 1995 championship winning Subary livery, to go with RB's 2001 example. And/Or it could be the Martini Racing Focus 01. Martini was a topic of discussion a few months ago, and Paul would definitely be thrilled to get those famous stripes on the games Lancia's. He's part Italian after all. That wouldn't matter so much to us PC gamers, but it's a pretty big deal for the un-moddable console versions. The only car I could see happening would be Colin's Impreza from the original Colin McRae Rally.Alright guys, good job, based off the time stamps etc, these two posts were they :D https://twitter.com/Kick_Up/status/688105860384473089 https://twitter.com/F2CMaDMaXX/status/688106007952666627 https://twitter.com/Kick_Up/status/688108890354008064 One is correctWhich one, is still the question. Both comments can be broken down into a lot of different suggestions. F2CMaDMaXX's comment first.: -Higgins' 2015 Wales Rally Special Impreza Grp N. This fits the poignant comment as the whole real world event was as well. It is a realistic addition, both car wise (as it has been potentially hinted on twitter ages ago, and subaru seem willing to for the game to feature their cars.) and livery wise (it is a replica livery in itself and should not be such an issue for licensing). However the one thing that for me rules it out is Paul's comment about having wanted the "thing" for his games for 5 years. This car has not been around since then. This part could perhaps be refering to wanting the livery for 5 years, maybe its coming, just not on the car he was originally imagining..... this does seem a long shot however. -An association with the McRae family name. This is a vague statement that could incorporate a lot of things (Perhaps a cameo appearance by one of the McRaes, or A new car in the shape of Colin's BRC Subaru Legacy which has never made an appearance in any of the games, which is also a requirement from what Paul has said.) Now for BrySkye's comment: -Liveries in general. Yes it seems likely to be a livery/liveries but is a bit vague for Paul to say "this guy is correct because he knows its some form of livery" plus im sure liveries (non specific) had been mentioned before this coment. -Martini livery on the focus. Not this as the focus with a martini livery featured in multiple CMR games. - The original subaru from CMR aka the 22B WRC LOL 2K16. This, obviously, was in the older games, all of the CMR games in fact I think, so not this. -95 Championship "555" livery. This is likely to be the answer. The 555 (or banana banana banana) livery has never been used on the 95 Impreza in any of the games. It is also very poignant as im sure everyone understands. The 95 car never featured in the original CMR games to take advantage of the wrc license that they had originally. The car first appeared in DIRT 1 and has remained in the games since, but always with fictional liveries. It therefore also fits with the "last 5 years comment" as the car has been in dirt games for 8 years. Paul has probably always longed for the car to sport the iconic livery. To conclude: The bananas will be making their official in-game debut on the 95 Impreza, where they belong. There is a small chance we may get the livery but on the 2015 group N impreza instead as discused above; however my money is well and truly on the 95 car wearing it, especially as Paul has said many times now that is not a big feature (which a new car could be considered).

F2CMaDMaXX said: Has anyone been reading the last page at all?!  This is what we've been saying for two pages. Anyway, @BrySkye is right on it anyway, it will need more polygons regardless, it's a large perf hit and needs to be part of the engine when designing it - remember part of the shorter length of our current stages is due to the performance constraints to include all the detail we have. Yeah sorry I started my comment, got distracted, didnt refresh the thread, and 45 mins after starting I posted my comment, and in that you must have commented my same point haha. Obviously having a "grooved/worn" surfaces will add more polygons than on the "clean" equivalent, but that increase will surely be very minor compared to a having deep layer of deformable polygons on top. That was my reason for the suggestion.

DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

Could they perhaps make a handfull of different "stages" of  deformation. They would be a solid (not deformable) surface, that is shaped as if it has been deformed by previous cars, replicating a deformed surface.  For instance they could do a clean surface as we have now,  a surface after 3/4 cars, after 7/8, after 15, after 25, then a "last in the line" thats fully worn. I know its not a truly variable surface, but it could make it a bit more interesting with 6 or so different surface qualities. For a rally, is there much need to have the surface changing in real time as you go over it, if there's only AI following you? So they are basically predetermined settings much like "rubbered in" variants on circuit racing games. With the different being a physically difference surface is being swapped not just grip values. Edit: This could also allow for different surface models being used for weather conditions, such as more/deeper puddles in a heavy rain effected stage.
