DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

Will D4 have the (IMO) silly upgrade mechanic? As in, when we buy a car, will we have to do events to upgrade parts? -

Hell no! The Yaris is the ugliest by far (that isn't to say that I don't like it, it just looks like a shoe box!). I do think the Hyundai looks good, but it's the least radical looking of all the new cars in my opinion. I was torn between the Fiesta and the i20 as my fave looking car, but I'm still favouring the Fiesta: it just looks bonkers with all the aero! Noo! Usually, for road cars, I hate aggressive designs such as Honda's, but the Yaris looks mean, aggressive and awesome. I love it from wing to splitter. -

Brings Prokop to mind, but it could also be some experimental part M-Sport jammed in there to see if it would fix any reliability issues. On the topic of the standings, things are looking good! Latvala is only eight points behind, and if he happens to win and score one more point than Ogier on the power stage in Corsica he'll hop ahead. I doubt Toyota will see a win next month, but who knows? -

Unsurprisingly, Lefebvre and Bertelli screwed. From how happy Latvala sounds, I'd say the Yaris is the biggest victim of power loss at altitude. He sounds confident and cheerful, so his lesser performance is definitely not a lack of feeling. -

I'm not mechanically informed, but is the lack of ALS enough to drop four seconds on a SSS? I think that Latvala's lack of pace isn't purely related to his car. Still, go Sisu! He'll hopefully bounce back tomorrow, rejuvenated with a fixed Jaris. -

They did make a lot of jokes on the number plates, but those were always improvised, not scripted. Top Gear does a lot of scripting, but any number plate jokes they made was not scripted, they all been pure coincidence. Also I still can't understand how some people made a connection between a number plate of "H982 FKL" and the Falkland war. First of all, when you're giving a year, it's either full date or just the tenths, aka either 1982 or '82. You don't do "982", so that automatically implies it's not a date. That sounds more like a number of a submarine or something. And then there's the "FKL" part. If I was to shorten "Falkland" into 3 letters, it would definitely be "FLK", not "FKL" as that sounds more like "F**k lands" rather than "Falkland". The problem is not in whether the guys looked for some number plate that relates to that war, but more on the fact that there's a bunch of Argentinians that see the Falkland war on everywhere that is British related. I wouldn't be surprised if they found DiRT to be an insult to them, because it's made by a British company... But let's stop beating a dead horse and move on. So I'll jump on the rally argentina screenshots bandwagon xD By pummeling a horse instead! Yay! -

Some Argentines hate the British. I, for one, love the British! Also the Falklands are all yours xoxo Yeah, but the few hateful Argentinians ruin it for everybody. We've all seen how well Top Gear's Peace Keeping soccer trip went, due to a random number on the license plate. I still think Soccer would've been bad anyways, seems to me like riots after matches are pretty common... so the boys would've had to lose. That embarrassed me beyond belief. It's one of the reasons I so strongly make it clear I'm not one of them. -

Your idea is Nice, but I think they best idea would be yo make a Latvia Location (Rally Liepaja) with Sweden terrain, the difference is that for Sweden your stage generate trickier Swedish roads, and for Liepaja flat out jumpy stages. (I am talking about Liepaja when it was a snow rally, but it could be any latvian rally like Rally Sarma or anyone) Or the Calamuchita Valley area of Argentina. Imagine the hanging bridges and long straights with hidden bedrock! (as a Latvala fan I reluctantly approve the second feature). -

Did any playtesters have a heavy crash? If you did, was the damage visibly and mechanically more brutal? -

From what I remember, the missing ground textures was an issue (the massive black holes in some stages). That, along with soft lock, never worked right for me. -

I used to frequent PRC until their articles became pure moaning about iRacing and AC and Project Cars. Their opinion articles on every other racing game are pretty enjoyable though. -

IMO as long as Gravel doesn't take itself seriously and acknowledges it's an arcade game, I'm totally fine with it. As for Milestone as a whole, we all must recognize their WRC games were miles ahead of Kylotonn's efforts (which, while still really subpar, are steadily improving every year). -

I thought Ogier's fiesta was the best of the M-Sport cars. As for best livery overall, I'm torn between OneBet, Ogier's Fiesta and the i20. Best looking car goes to the Yaris though. It's fierce! -

IIRC it was already answered that it's not possible due to technical limitations. They did say that; however Paul said that in the livery editor you would be able to include your name and flag, and in the video the WD40 Fiesta has names that don't correspond to the real life drivers. Aha! -

This kinda sucks. I know it's not the same situation, but I remember hating playing Dirt 3 and seeing the grayed out Stratosphere, S4, Saturn Sky, etc. I guess the lack of i20 won't be the loss of an icon or a major player in rallying for whoever buys the standard version, but it'll still be a notable omission (especially when the R5 won't have much cars to begin with, as far as I understand). -

Yup. To clarify a bit more. This is a team branding suite that allows you to name your team, select a pattern for you cars and choose colours for the various elements of those patterns. You can also add your name, flag and race number. The sponsors that you have signed will appear on the car in the slots you choose. BE STILL MY BEATING HEART @KickUp to be clear, the name, flag and race number will be on the car rather than the windows, right? On the fenders maybe? Also, was the name and flag option added recently due to the feedback given or was it already planned? Flag on roof scoop would be great. How about blood type on older cars? Blood type: red -

Latvala has got a crappy road position, but I think he has the chance to win, or at least finish in the top 3. The Yaris has now surprised on two occasions. I've no doubt it could surprise on one more. -

Regarding the stage lengths, keep in mind that in the game there'll be a fictional R5 championship, so it's perfectly logical that the stages in it emulate neither real world roads nor conventional WRC stage lengths. -

Imagine the spectacle we'd get with a Camilli/C3 combo. Madness! Yeah, on top of FIA cancelling stages due to too high speeds we would get stages cancelled because of Camilli wrapping his C3 around a tree every rally :D Even better: Novikov! We'd have poor Giraudet with his head in his hands every stage. -
