real life 2020 FIA World Rally Championship
YoMrWhite replied to Fedemaisonnave's topic in DiRT Rally 2.0
Yep, 4 drivers in 4 different cars. Great stuff. Barring another late drama from Neuville, of course. When was the last time this happened? Who's first to it? -

Tough luck for Meeke, just as it looked he could do a drama-free rally for once. Okay, the upside is a great starting position for the next rallies... Though I doubt that will be much consolation for him right now. -

They definitively look good. At least two of them. Meeke has been spectacular and Breen very solid, but Lefebvres times are poor. And that's on his preferred surface... -

Here's my complete one: 1. Neuville 2. Sordo 3. Ogier 4. Evans 5. Breen Paddon and the Toyotas behind, Tanak, Meeke and Lefebvre out. -

Let's make a prediction for Corsica: M-Sport was 1st and 3rd in Monte Carlo, 2nd and 3rd in Sweden, 2nd and 4th in Mexico. That points clearly to a 3rd and 4th finish. Anyone holding that bet? -

I hate all of them equally. Almost flagged for abuse :D Well, none of the recent cars is what you could call beautiful. No flowing lines, no elegance, only pure functionality. But if you look back at the class of 86, those cars were mostly really really... ugly. The Quattro, the S4 and the Metro looked brutish, the Peugeot had that monstrous wing, only the Ford RS200 looked somewhat more refined. But it was what they did on the stages that made them cool and created a beauty of its own. So let's hope the current cars can create some kind of that excitement, too. And don't get banned... -

I'm undecided about the best or worst looking car myself, but they do look different from each other and that shows in your opinions. There is much more diversity this year, in looks and in the results. 2017 is more of a new era than I thought it would be and this is definitely a good thing for WRC. -
Just finished about a dozen spam posts. Good work, gentlemen!

You're probably right. And maybe he initially thought the car was done. That could have easily damaged the wheels or the suspension. Anyway, the season looks promising. Ogier's in front as always, but we have 3 winners in 3 different cars after 3 rallies. And I somehow believe Citroen and Hyundai might have more potential to make further progress through the season than M-Sport. Not so sure about Toyota. -

Why the hell did he turn left and took that tour through the car park instead of just trying to get back on the road again? Any ideas? Seriously, I hope the FIA doesn't come up with some kind of penalty for that... -

Jesus, he really likes to keep his boss on the edge... Good he kept on pushing in the first stage of the day. -

To be fair, he's only there for his own enjoyment. He's not trying to win, and he doesn't seem to be aiming for a manufacturers drive. If you have the money to do it, then fair enough! I don't expect him to win or compete for the top five and I actually think it's good to have some privateers in the top class. I just think he should make some kind of progress. Look at someone like Henning Solberg: He's certainly most entertaining when he has a drive but mostly manages to stay on the road. And what kind of enjoyment can you get out of rolling again and again? -

This always makes me laugh: SS10: Bertelli - Live tracking shows him stopped at 19,5 km. Seriously, how often do we have to read this? Maybe he and his team should focus on driving and proper preparation of the car instead of fancy liveries... -

Great time by Sordo on SS9. Too bad he lost 10 minutes yesterday. He was actually doing a good job with a road position that was worse than that of his teammates. -

Wow, went to bed yesterday thinking, the Hyundai look good in 3rd, 4th and 5th place. Not so good now. Any idea what happened to their engines? They won't have overheated on street courses. Something fuel-related? Strange. -

Back to the halcyon days of ca. 1998 to 2003, with up to seven works teams in one season. That would be great indeed. And we need one italian manufacturer to add some more flair. -

It just doesn't look like a proper rally car. More like something out of a comic. Would fit better on a circuit, in my opinion. -

Strange. I wouldn't have been surprised if any of the other teams had those handling problems, given that the cars are new. But Citroen took the last year off and could do more testing than Hyundai and M-Sport. And they didn't come back after nearly two decades, like Toyota. So this is puzzling indeed. I really hope they can fix this. Another bad performance in Mexico and they are most likely out of both championships after only three events. That would be very disappointing. -

It' a really interesting season for sure and Mexico will pose a completely different challenge again with its gravel and high altitude. Definitely an improvement over the last years in terms of suspense and unpredictability. Good Thing! -

Hats off to Latvala. He was nearly out of WRC a few months ago and now he leads the championship. He must feel reborn. -

Monte all over again. The same 5 drivers in the first 5 places. I hope Latvala or Tanak will make it, but my gut tells me the end result could be exactly the same as in Monte Carlo... -

Meeke did it again. If he can't fight for the win, why can't he just get to the finish, take a few points and attack next time? I really like the guy, but his crash-per-rally-ratio is awful. He will have a great road position for Mexico, though. Maybe that was the plan. He might win there. If Citroen doesn't axe him... -

I don't know about the title, but Latvala seems to have his mojo back. A clever drive in Monte Carlo and really fast here. I honestly didn't expect so much speed from him and the Toyota. I'm a little bit disappointed by Citroen. After taking 2016 mostly off, I thought they might have an early advantage this season. Now they sometimes look like the slowest of the four teams. Ford on the other hand has shown that Monte was no fluke. Hyundai is good, but it's Neuville who really stands out. He has taken more than one minute out of both his teammates, and that's a lot in Sweden. Very impressive. The new car just seems to suit him. On the other hand, there's still two days to go. And he was leading comfortably in Monte Carlo, too... -
Wow, that's shocking. I've got 2450 visits. 2450! Who the hell is checking my profile? Why? What are they looking for?

I'm the absolute biggest Latvala fanboy in the world, and it hurts me to even think about that. Honestly, I've considered that before, thinking that maybe 2013/2014 were his last years in which he had a shot at the title and he blew it, but I try really really hard to make myself believe he still has a chance. His last two years were abysmal as he dropped out of the championship race in the first four rallies of the year, and even though that took away valuable time in his career, I feel that if he can get his head under control and try to be just a little more consistent, he could be a championship contender next year with the upgraded Yaris, if not this year. Looking back at the ages of championship winners, Loeb was 30 when he won his first championship in 2004, Ogier was 29 and Gronholm 31, like Makinen. Latvala is 31, so I think he's about ready to win a championship, and he's got some years in him still. Röhrl was 33, Waldegaard 36, Blomqvist 38, Mikkola 41... Latvala has lots of time.
