real life 2020 FIA World Rally Championship
YoMrWhite replied to Fedemaisonnave's topic in DiRT Rally 2.0
Unfortunately he's up against Ogier, who is not only as fast as Latvala, but very self-confident and who makes nearly no mistakes. Ogier is also one of those drivers who is fast everywhere and doesn't need to build up his speed in the course of a rally. I would really like Latvala to win the title this year, but I doubt it will happen. If he can't beat Ogier in Sweden, the race for the title will again be over very quickly. -

Too bad for him. He put up a good fight to Ogier. -

Kubica, Paddon, Bertelli and Camilli, all off on the first proper day of the Rally. The Monte takes its toll. Impressive time by Meeke in SS7. He's back in front. -

Very innocent looking accident. How fast was that? 30? Apart from that, great driving from Meeke. I doubt he will beat Ogier, but he's not far back and solid in second right now. The new Hyundai doesn't look too fast, although Neuville has been better today than yesterday. Same for Camilli, who did some good times in the last stages. Maybe Wilson wasn't wrong in his judgement? On the other hand, Evans is thrashing the competition in WRC2 and leads, despite dropping a minute with a puncture yesterday. You have to wonder what he could have done in Camillis (or Ostbergs) place. -
Yes, back to proper gossip. Would love to have this one. And every other Renault available. I just have a weak spot for older french cars.

How come nearly every american you hear from seems to have german ancestors? Strange, isn't it?

Nothing confirmed afaik. If he has a chance to win the title in WRC2, they will surely go for it. He doesn't need to compete in all rallies though, as only a maximum of 7 count towards the championship. -

VW had Ogier and Mikkelsen as test drivers for the whole year 2012. After fighting for the title with Citroen, Ogier basically took a year off, competing only in a few events in WRC2 for Skoda. Ogier was engaged in a full wrc2 campaign missing only New Zealand ;) Checked it. You're right. -

My prediction for Toyota: Due to the lack of firstrate drivers to test and develop this year, 2017 will mostly be another year of development. They will have one of the current Hyundai drivers in their fold, or maybe Ostberg. From 2018 on, they should be competitive, if they have the right car and concept. And unlike M-Sport, money shouldn't be a problem. -

This worked obviously great. Now on the other hand, Toyota couldn't lure Meeke away from Citroen and all the other top drivers are under contract, too. Maybe they could still get Evans. But right now it looks as if development is in the hands of retired drivers and/or youngsters. No ideal scenario for sure. I could even imagine them to unretire Hirvonen. -
What's up with Leagues? We're looking at potential new functionality, but obviously very keen to fix anything that's broken. As far as I know, some options when creating a league are blocked (career engineers, use of owned cars with upgrades). Ryu Makkuro knows more about that.

Well, it's one of those dreaded two-part-questions. Does "Think so" mean "yes, there is gonna be a roadbook tomorrow" or "No, we're skipping this time"? Probably the first one. Definitely hope so.

I think they modelled the snowbanks quite well, especially how your car can get sucked in. Of course I hate it when it happens to me, but it feels right. Never tried in real life, though.
-
Not for me. I never liked the combination of green and red. The 2014 and 2015 liveries were good, the 2016 looks very nice.

Oh yeah, Rally Trophy. Great memories, especially driving the Saab and Lancia Fulvia (actually one of the faster cars there). Still using keyboards at the time, so the A110 and Stratos were quite a handful.
-
It wasn't so slow in fact. Won the Sweden rally regularly in the 60s and 70s, and a few times in Finland and Great Britain. In the Sweden Rally 1975, Blomqvist would have beaten Waldegaard in the Stratos, if not for some electrical problems.
-
Yes, yes, yes. First one on my list, too, in front of all the others I mentioned. Must have.

The BX is like the Peugeot 307 WRC of the Group B era: it would certainly add to the numbers, but it's hard to get excited about it! Well said. On the other hand, there are a few forgotten - meaning not so successful - cars I would really like to get my hands on. For example the Nissan Sunny, Mitsubishi Galant or Mazda 323 in Group A, Hyundai Accent in WRC and so on.
-
We already have most of the Group B cars. And I don't think anybody is waiting too eagerly for the Citroen BX 4x4.
-
Which would be a quite lame Legends special...

Good question. The 1071s was introduced in 1963, so it was the basis for the first Minis in rallying, before they switched to the 1275. An even slower Mini in the game (assuming the one in is the 1275)? Doesn't make too much sense indeed.

I guess everybody has favourite events. I can beat the AI quite handily in Wales and Germany, while I struggle in Greece and Monte Carlo. Finland and Sweden sort of don't count, because I'm not yet really familiar with them. Strangely though, there are stages in Sweden I lose lots of time to the AI, while I can beat them at others, although my driving doesn't feel particularly fast.
-
Yes, that one should have been in. Strange it isn't, for we have the 205 and 306 and the Peugeots in PP und RX and it would fit in the 2000 class. Know what? Make a French Special, with the missing Renaults and the 206. Wouldn't mind a 504 thrown into it.
-
Ah, I'd like this TR7 in Dirt Rally. Unique look, great sound.

Well, he doesn't need to look at the championship standings and hold back. Should make for quick times - and maybe some crashes...
