If we set up a rally using trackgen, will be be able to recce before the rally?
-
@KickUp two questions: 1) Will there be asynchronous league racing as it exists in DR? 2) Will we be able to use trackgen in our leagues? BTW, trackgen is exactly what rally simming needs, big props for bringing this feature to D4. EDIT: IM DUM. As per the roadbook "This is a stage you’ll be able to take time and time again, share with your friends and the DiRT Community, and even use it with league and PvP functionality."

I was trying to think of something witty fish-related to say, but nothing came to mind. If anybody can think of something, let minnow. I am also floundering to find a response, but I figured I would post for the halibut.

I would *adore* this game.

Mine was reset too, but I assume the sexiness of the MK2 violated the terms of use.

Yeah, because VW are the only manufacturer who have fibbed about an automobile on sale... ...the timing is a bit crap, but the lineups at M-Sport and Toyota are still pretty open, so I think that at least some of the VW crews will get picked up. For some reason I thought Toyota had their deals wrapped up, and MSport is a privateer and assumed the top drivers would want to drive for factory teams. But I guess it is early for silly season, and I don't really follow WRC that closely these days. And I assume you are being sarcastic since 'fibs' don't result in a company spending $14700000000 in a single country to buy back 7 years worth of products they knowingly, willfully and illegally modified in order to make near-obsolete technology seem competitive in the marketplace. -

Did VW really wait until all the other seats were taken at other teams before announcing this to their drivers? If so that is really crappy. Not as crappy as releasing a purposefully defective product, but at least consumers have recourse for that with the buy-back. -
100% do not care about the presentation of the menus beyond reducing the amount of clicks it takes to do common tasks (ex: saving and loading setups).

I really wanted an EVO X but the Fiesta was such a better value as far as operating costs are concerned.
-
Is that a diesel motor? We don't get any Foci in the states with a 1.8L. Just picked up a Fiesta ST last week, it is my first turbo car and I am completely addicted to boost. Also drove the Focus ST and liked it a lot, but fell in love with the light weight feeling of the Fiesta. Plus its my daily city commuter so the smaller size was attractive.

Huh, my main complaint about the notes is that they are overly verbose and I wish I could remove all the superfluous detail. Or to put it in the words of a WRC driver (I forget who said it and I am going to paraphrase and mangle the quote entirely): "Don't tell me what I can see, I need to know what I can't see". Finland is a perfect example, yes Paul I can clearly see the large crest in front of me, I don't need you to tell me that if I have enough speed my car will become airborne. However I can't see what is on the other side, so in the time it took you to say "jump, maybe" I missed my breaking point. I guess the takeaway is that notes are as unique as a drivers/codrivers, and the process of creating those notes would be a fun part of the game that I doubt CM would ever implement since it veers too far into rally nerd territory.
-
I think having the co-driver make mistakes is a great idea, perfect notes just aren't a thing in rally, even at the top level and it would add a great level of realism to the game. Gamers would hate it of course, but rally fans would appreciate it.

Sorry @JZStudios been busy and just saw this. I am not sure about the triple screens, I am running an i5-6600K @4.2GHz, and a 980ti on a 1440p display. With that setup on the "high" preset (dynamic optimization off) I am just barely able to keep 60FPS in the city, which is the most demanding part of the game. So triples on a 960 might push it a bit, but you might be able to make it work, I hear turning off MSAA helps a lot for performance. There will probably be a demo out soon, so I would recommend waiting for that if you are more patient than me.

I am not having some of the issues other are with the PC version, but FH3 has really exceeded my expectations so far. You can tell they put in a lot of work to make sure the game was a proper PC title on it's own instead of a minimum-effort console port. It runs great, altho I did have to turn on v-sync, running the game with unlocked frame rates causes an annoying stuttering issue that is pretty distracting. But at 60fps v-sync the game runs completely smooth, rock solid. Handling is better than I expect from an open world driver. They did a good job making the cars handle uniquely within the constraints of the simplified handling model. With all the assists off, the cars slide, spin, brakes lock up, etc. Compared to the first Horizon (I never played the second), the handling is a lot closer to the Forza Motorsports series. Still isn't a super high fidelity car handling model, but it is better than I was expecting. Love the environment, the super compressed version of AU has a ton of variety, from city street racing in a JDM Silvia, to twisting roads thru the rainforest in a GT3 car, to running buggies and trophy trucks in the desert. Tons of content, I am a bit overwhelmed with the amount of events on my map atm. And if you don't like an event's rules, you can change all the rules around and publish your own version of the event, for example swapping out muscle cars for classic rally cars on a race. I know I am just gushing like a fanboy at this point, but I just didn't have the highest expectations for it, and was not expecting MS to take the PC release so seriously. They have paid lip service to PC gaming for a long time, and it feels like they are living up to the talk finally.

Wheel support for FH3 is basically Logitech and Thrustmaster at the moment, with Fanatec coming in late Sept: http://www.forzamotorsport.net/en-us/news/fm6a_wheel_support Forza Apex runs pretty well for me, between 80-120fps, but I do get some occasional stuttering which oddly enough is much worse when I frame limit to 60fps. Hoping FH3 resolves it, I am not sure how much of the engine is shared but I imagine a lot.

It's the car that looks so good Subaru decided to simply make the Impreza a tribute to it.

In Forza there is "Simulation" steering, but it is still dampened.
-
Yup, that's the #1 one thing I want out of an AC console release, better controller handling, even if it means reduced simulation fidelity. Console users are going to hate AC if they don't change it from how it is on PC.

It's because he an extremely gifted marketeer and gets attention for what people feel is the "wrong reason". They see him driving in rally as a cultural appropriation of sorts, designed to sell energy drinks at the expense of the sport. People have formed an opinion on him based on his brand and marketing without ever actually listening to him talk. Because once you do hear him talk you realize he is a very chill, humble, family man that is simply happy he is successful enough to pursue his passion. This thread proves my point, the narrative is that he thinks he is god's gift to driving, yet when he participated in a handful of WRC rounds, his interviews showed that he was completely realistic about his chances in the series and was simply thankful for the opportunity to drive with some of the best drivers in the world. Then again, as it was pointed out earlier, I am probably just too dumb to understand.

Windows has supported delta patching for 15+ years now, so replacing an entire file instead of applying a transform to existing files is silly from a technological perspective. Binary files work fine, the transform is created by looking at file differences at a byte level, all files are treated as binary with the windows implementation. While windows might support it, I have never seen a Steam app do it, so I assume delta patching is not implemented in Steam. Also with the increase in broadband internet it is a lot simpler to replace the entire file. Delta patches run much slower, so while they are much smaller file sizes, they are very expensive computationally as well as disk I/O to apply the patch. TD;DR delta patching is available to anyone deploying on windows, but no one outside of MS seems to use it.
