    So here is the results with screenshots which should remove all doubts regarding whether upgrades are working in playlists. I drive a loaned Panspeed RX-7 while my friend's is lvl 50 fully upgraded, he start from 2nd and I start from first. Both of us using automatic and start at full RPM and stock tuning.

    Now the next screenshot is from the custom lobby with tuning disabled.




    I have no idea how you ended up assuming that I'm driving a fully upgraded RX-7 and my friend is driving a black loaner RX-7.

    Oh by the way, you cannot install a custom livery on a loaned RX-7. I don't recall the Ravenwest livery has purple hood. Maybe you should be the one wearing glasses.

    I find this strange because, offline, I've tested a car with and without upgrades on - the BMW 320 TC - because people complained about the negligible top speed. The car did perform better with upgrades on offline - the kicker here however is that I didn't touch the tuning on the car. Top speed without upgrades was 158mph in slipstream. With all upgrades on, I could get 162mph. I tested on the Indy Oval.


    The thing I asked about is whether this is effective in official playlists (touring playlist, street playlist, etc.) where both tuning and upgrades are enabled. By logic of testing it should mean that only tuning works and upgrades do nothing, but being unable to play the game online I can't test this myself right now. I know you said that by your testing it should work this way but I'd like to see if it can be positively confirmed as opposed to assuming. If it can be confirmed that upgrades don't work in official lists (or work only under specific circumstances), I'd like to know.


    Thanks for the tests though. Codemasters need to look into this, it's a very strange problem.

    Could you do your test again with the BMW 320 TC in Indy Oval? I've tried both upgraded and stock just now in singleplayer and got around 156-157mph slipstream throughout the track.

    Now the reason why I make an assumption based on the tests is because playlist are random and you can't choose your desired track to test. But I've managed to figure out a way to test in playlist by going into an empty region and constantly re-create until it has that particular track and category. Although it was pain to see it ended up time attack instead of race.


    The following screenshots will proof finally remove any doubts regarding upgrades working or not working in official playlists.

    I think the difference is pretty clear. I've also tested that upgrades DO NOT WORK on Global Challenge at the moment. So right now everyone is driving the same stock car, the only difference is tuning. So any arguement that the top leaderboards is using an upgraded car is out of the window.

  5. From my Comprehensive Car Guide, you can check it out for other street/tuner cars.

    Strength

    •  Excellent launch acceleration
    •  Great low to medium speed acceleration (1st to 4th gear)
    •  Excellent traction at corner exits
    •  Great turn-in ability at corners



    Weakness

    •  Weak high speed acceleration (5th gear)
    •  Slight tendency to drift at corner exits
    •  Slightly unstable at high speed

    Because of the street playlist map choices for GT Category, rarely the SLR 722 will exceed high speeds at 5th gear, thats why not many people will experience this. Though the SL65 will have better acceleration at 5th gear, but the acceleration from the first 4 gears of the 722 is better.


  6. We did all of our tests on the PC, so I can savely say the PC version is already covered with every possible circumstances. If the console version is indeed different, example upgrades work offline but not online? Then looks like someone from the console version need to fire up a similar tests like we do on Spa GP to see whether or not upgrades are actually activated online.

    It's a bit hard to see whether upgrades are actually working at launch with other players since some might be using automatic, manual and TCS. Slipstream could be a factor as well.

  8. I'm gonna put an end to this. Right now I'm rank no. 2 in the current Tuner Global Challenge with a time of 55.456. That was done with a lvl 38 Impreza. I don't consider the top 3 legit, because of their ghost runs.

    I have grinded my Impreza to lvl 50 now, and re-do global challenge with full upgrades and with my tuning setup for this track. This was my time. Run is not perfect and had a bit of AI slipstream, but I'm not gonna be grinding for a perfect lap just to convince you.


    Now that time achieved is ranked no.4. Next I have removed all my upgrades on the Impreza but still maintaining my tuning setups and this is the time achieved.


    That time achieved ranks no.3 in the leaderboards. Now I don't care if you gonna assume that the screenshot with the faster time is set with a fully upgraded one and the slower time is a stock one. The next screenshot is in a custom lobby, tuning disabled to enable upgrades.


    You can see where that time stands right now if it were in the leaderboard. And keep it mind this time was achieved with tuning disabled and no AI for slipstreaming and was done in a few attempts. Imagine if I had my tuning setup + AI slipstream and spend more time grinding a perfect lap, easily a time below 55.00. And I'm sure many good players would achieve below 55.00 as well if their upgrades are activated.

    I'm done arguing here.


    Edit: I saw your last comment, you seriously need to re-read that post bennyboy1. First screenshot featured a fully upgraded lvl 50 stock tuning RX-7 against a loaned RX-7 which is also stock tuning. And it is run in a PUBLIC PLAYLIST which by default, tuning and upgrades are on. And the results according to the screenshot showed no difference, why is that? Isn't the lvl 50 RX-7 suppose to have the advantage?

    2nd screenshot is in a custom lobby, tuning is disabled and this activates the upgrades of the lvl 50 RX-7. And look at the results in the screenshot, he is so much faster! Why can't the same result happen in official playlist? And we are not trolls for stating out actual facts that is happening in the game and pointing out that you are wrong with proper proof.

    Sounds like you have no idea what you are even talking about. Why do 100 laps when we can do a simple straightway acceleration comparison to test the upgrades which removes any player skill level or errors made? Did you even notice the straightway performance difference in the 2 screenshots above? And don't forget how many players have been pointing out how upgrades are not having any effect, even claiming that the loaned car is faster than a fully upgraded car in global challenge.

    Kazzy, could you do the test again in singleplayer with a stock and upgraded BMW 320 TC in Indy oval? I've just tested it and both stock and upgrade got me around 156-157mph range with slipstream throughout the course. No where near 162mph for me for both cars.

    Now regarding playlist, due to the specific tracks and categories the way playlist are, it's almost impossible to test it out, thats why I made my assumption based on the Singleplayer and custom lobby regarding tuning settings on or off. But I finally had an idea and on testing this, went to an empty region and mass create empty playlist lobby until I got the track and category I wanted.

    I think the results are quite clear. Upgrades don't work in official playlist at the moment, and only in custom lobbies with tuning disabled. Also upgrades DON'T WORK in Global Challenge as well as I've tested. In other words, everybody right now is using the same stock car. So any arguement that one is faster than the other because of upgrades is out of the window. Except tuning.

    So, if we buy a car, dont buy the tuning options and just buy the upgrades, this will enable the upgrades as it is supposed to? Will the car be better then with just tuning options?

    How does this affect official playlists as opposed to custom lobbies?

    Having tuning options -and- upgrades on a car in official playlists, basically. Will it make the upgrades useless, or do they both apply? If this is the case in official lobbies then I'll make sure to not purchase tuning upgrades and stick to just car upgrades since they matter more.

    If we apply the same thing from the singleplayer custom cup which by default upgrades and tuning are on, upgrades don't work there as I tested out. If it doesn't work in SP, we can safely say it doesn't work in official playlist either. As for not purchasing the tuning bit, me and my friend are grinding a car to test it out.

  12. There has been a lot of discussion lately regarding upgrades barely making any difference, however me and my friend have seem to discover that upgrades are somehow enabled if you disable tuning in custom lobbies.

    If you set up the custom lobby with the following options:

    Tuning disabled, and upgrades enabled = upgrades work

    Tuning enabled, upgrades disabled = upgrades do not work

    Both disabled = upgrades work

    It would seem that somehow enabling tuning causes upgrade to disable in the coding. In other words, whoever has been hosting custom lobbies with both tuning and upgrades disabled expecting everyone to be equal are actually enabling upgrades for those who have already installed the upgrades in their cars. We also took the opportunity to have a comparison between fully upgraded and stock straightway performance in certain cars upon discovering this "bug". We have also discovered upgrades have a significant impact on certain cars but not so much in some cars. So far we have tested Mini Cooper, Integra, XKR-S, C63 and Viper.

    Upgrades have a significant impact on the Integra,  Mini and XKR-S. A fully upgraded one started from 2nd place to a solid 2-3 car length lead over the stock one in the straights of Spa GP Sportscar. For the C63, the difference is 1 car length. For the Viper's case, the upgraded one only had a bumper advantage over the stock one starting from 2nd place. It seems upgrades does not have a significant impact on the Viper compared to the other cars we have tested.

    I hope codemasters fix this issue regarding upgrades, this could be the cause of upgrades not being enabled in the game as some claimed.

  13. The supercar category if my favourite category in the street discipline. This guide will feature a video showcasing all the 6 supercars with their lap times posted as well as highlighting the best and worst stats for you to decide which car to buy in Multiplayer for the supercar category. I also want to break the stereotype being painted in some of these cars.

    Setup used
    I used keyboard and all assists are turned off except ABS. Upgrades on all these 6 cars are the weight reduction upgrade only. Experience and performance might differ with different setups, upgrades, tuning and assists.

    Track is Circuit of the Americas, GP Circuit because it has a overall mix of straightways and low, medium and high speed turns. It is also my favourite track.
    Automatic transmission is used in the Viper, Furai and One-77 run while manual transmission was used in the MP4-12c, Huayra and SLS AMG.

    I hope this guide will help you in finding out each car's strength and weakness and the car that suits your driving style. However it is up to the player's skill to get the best out of the car they are driving.

  14. Q: Are the performance of the all the cars that particular more balanced and no longer have overpowered ones like the one in Grid 2?

    Q: How is the upgrade system this time? Are we freely able to choose which upgrade for the car?

    Q: Since there is tire wear, does that mean we have a choice of using soft tires or hard tires?

    Q: How is the corner cutting penalty this time when players ended up going off track at the exit of corners?
