Anybody else find that crosscart to be bloody hard to control (driving without assists), I can even drive more controlled with a 037 or 205 E2 despite really hating those. The cart just seems to snap the tail out without warning and almost uncatchable...
No, you aren't the only one! The karts and Pro2 trucks have been the biggest challenge for me so far. I started driving the karts like circuit racers and I iimediately got a lot faster. They do snap though and, although you can slide them, they are way more predictable if you keep it clean.

Can anybody tell me when you get the official Subaru liverys and others in the game. Thanks.
The 2001 WRCar livery was awarded to me relatively early in the rally career. I am now about 70% through the rally career and I was awarded an alternate (Prodrive) livery for the NR4 Impreza last night.

I am yet to get/see the 555 livery for the Group A car. That's the one I really want, but it's not popped up in the classified yet so I suspect it won't come until later in the career!
i love the karts the main thing from stopping me playing them is the restricted views.could do with better cams for them.

  2. set ups should be like how you done f1 games.top times in leaderboard click name copy set up done.

as previously said on dirt rally people often keep best set ups of vehicles for themselves.if you can copy exactly the set up they using like you cana in f1 games then add that.why go to steam workshop when you can add it in game ?

it really works well in f1 game add it to the rally games. top guy top time copy set up.job done.

Yesterday I finally got a chance to play the game. I 've spend about 3 hours doing several freeride races as rallying stuff in the career. I'll add my experiences in here. I play on simulation with no aids.

    1. Tarmac physics: while being an improvement over Dirt Rally I can't help the feeling the cars are still skittish, have no real weight and do feel floaty. I have the impression that the "back" of the car isn't really there. The feeling on gravel is great. No complaints here.
    2. The menus: The menu structure is not very intuative and it feels cluttered. Navigation around requires a lot of button pressing and I prefered the clean and straightforward menus from DR
    3. Career setup: this is great. I like the way the player gets introduced and the way the career builds up in terms of length and complexity.
    4. Cars: Great sound and very nice to look at. Can't complain to anything I've driven so far.
    5. Replays: while the mixed camera is exactly the one from DR it missed the camera movement when paused. This gives no variation in capturing screenshots. A kind of freecam would be greatly appreciated. That you can hide the replay interface and disable the co-driver during it is great.
    6. Graphics: Can't complain here. The lighting is great and really adds to the experience when rallying. Cars are very detailed but textures and foilage seems less impressive than DR. Still great looking.
    7. Landrush: Did 2 races and I simply don't want to return to it anymore. It feels completely out of place and I struggle to enjoy it.
    8. YourStage: I know this has been a tech you've been working on for 3 years but I have my doubts about the stages being generated. It all feels very much the same and nothing actually stands out. The handcrafted stages from DR where thrilling, had an exciting layout and some tricky technical parts. YourStage simply can't compete with those handcrafted ones. I prefer to have the stages of DR with the quantity that came with it then the general YourStage. If you have done a few stages in YourStage all the stages created afterwards seem to borrow the same set of corners, combinations and layouts. Very noticable in career! Positive part of this is that YourStage gets the player in a flow very easily. Probably I'll end up generating a specific set for each location and stick to it. Question that rose to the occasion: I wonder how stages are created when YourStage would get a landscape which was more challenging for its algorithm and how to algorithm actually learns for not using the same subset of corners?
    9. Overall: I won't be to severe with my judgement here since it is your first public outing for YourStage and I appreciate what you guys are trying to do with YourStage. It is to early to judge D4 but the general feeling I am left with is a positive one and most importantly I am enjoying myself a lot.
nice feedback but this also kinda highlights why we are finding it hard to agree on the handling at the moment.tarmac is generally great gravel generally isnt perfect.who is right wrong who knows ? :D

  4. @kickup i put in the other thread not sure if you would read that so will add here are you looking into handling issues ? will anything be tweaked ?

some cars backend wont come round cant be donuted and wont slide.regardless of set up.also on wales can the gravel sound be tweaked so louder when hitting car and when sliding is fixed under neath the car.

  5. i think the problem is in career you start with the R2 cars which just drive like they on rails and you dont even have to lift.so the people with no patience right its broken lets get to steam forums and the rest.

thing is once you get onto the better cars and try all the surfaces you see a good game. people forget dirt rally wasnt magic straight off the bat either.

  6. I have 8 years experience in Richard Burns Rally and 2 in Dirt Rally.
My opinion from 5 hours playing Dirt 4 (simulation, G27, 900 degrees with soft lock, all assist off) :
    - game is easier than Dirt Rally
-too much grip on gravel (no fun from driving on gravel)
    - in online rallys we dont have leaderboards after every stage. Just leaderbord with whole rally times
    - this same grip on dry and wet tarmac (simulation?)

    And good sides :
    - Improved handling on tarmac (I like it, but car still floats)
    - harder braking (easy to block front wheels)
    - Superb damage model (easy to puncture or mechanical failure)
    - Lot of online rallys (and coming leagues :) )
    - nice weather effects
    - setup changes have very big impact on car handling ( very nice)

Please Codies do something with this gravel handling. Now its now fun with driving on gravel :( and please leaderbord with every single stage times. I dont have information how much push on Hyundai Event and drive safe all stages. On finish I have couple seconds to first....

you do have leaderboards for all the single stages in single player

  7. The Evo VI is a little beast. Feels instantly fast out of the box, and sounds great too. Even the R4 Evo felt more alert and agile than in DR.

Conversely, I felt the 95 Impreza handled like a bag of ****. Needs some set-up work for sure. Felt like there were two bodies in the trunk.
it all depends on the surface you trying them on. ;)

DiRT 4 - Simulation VS Gamer Handling (Australia) w/Thrustmaster Wheel Cam

Big difference in stage times between Sim and Gamer mode!

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z4UMcFqJC_Y

the thing is if you pushing as fast as you can go you will be faster if you can drive  well in sim mode.maybe with having a few of the things off actually made him slower due to the handling is harder.so arcade suited him.

i did a track with just a couple of added things in sim mode and i was about 3 seconds slower.so all of sim mode .

  9. thats probably what i seen on wales i seen a group of some animal but i was going too fast to see :D . i wonder what other animals we can run over :p

seen the drone a few times nearly dinged off the car.really good touch.my fav is the low flying helicopter and its so low that is stirs all the dust. B)

The ONLY grip (;)) I have with crashes is damage other than visual. I hope on hardest level, the one you have to unlock,  crashes will be less forgiving. I saw people hit trees with a front of the car pretty hard, they were able to finish the stage with no problems. Also body deformation is really hard to do, would rather have other aspect of D4 refined. For me they are more than good enough. Maybe RX guys would like more due to the nature of RX races.
Have you seen the erased citizens gameplay from a couple weeks ago? They made the mini cooper end up onto a tree at pretty low speed and had to retire, without even too much previous damage if I remember correctly, which videos have you watched with people ending up on a tree and getting away with it?
watch my video at the end with the escort mk2.i thought that crash was brilliant :D
