It has only been happening tonight. Middle of an online race, my screen goes black, my desktop appears, and then Grid Autosport launches again. Any ideas?

Anyone?

I have only ever installed steam on my main PC. If I put steam and GAS on my laptop to take away with me, how will it work? Will it sync up, or will I be starting the game from scratch on the laptop?

Is it the same ramming morons or are people actually wanting to race?

I notice the pre-order price of Grid Autosport is about £45 on amazon. I assume it will be a similar price, if not more, on steam at launch. How about allowing Grid 2 purchasers to trade in Grid 2 to get say 50% off the new game? Would that not be fair?

I decided to have a play of Grid 2 online again. (Haven't played for about 8 months.) Just to see if any improvements have been made and if it is still active. I was surprised to find it is still quite busy, but I am having a strange issue in some races. My position shown on screen bears absolutely no relation to my actual position on track. In a race just now, I ended up absolutely dead last out of 12 cars. My position showed 6th. And then suddenly changed to 8th. Yet I was clearly 12th. What is going on???

I won't be buying any DLC ever.  It's a scam. The cars and tracks should be in the original game that codemasters charge £30 - £40 for. If nobody buys it they will soon get the message.

Just looked at the DLC under properties in steam and it says I have the black edition installed.   Also, what is the high res texture pack?

I wonder if I have been had.   I bought a key from cdkeys which said black edition. It even says black edition on the invoice.   I put the key into steam before the release date and preloaded the game.   But I have never clapped eyes on the SLS black series so it can't be the black edition.

It works a treat. Game plays very well on my 5 year old Nvidia G 103M Laptop. Have to have the settings low of course.

I quite like it and I was one of the most brutal critics of Grid 2. The online is fun. Doesn't seem to be as many hardcore rammers as there used to be. I like the selection of tracks and you get to drive a large range of cars straight away. Get it from a cdkey site and you should be able to pay well less than £20. Worth it, IMO.

Change your download region to London and you should get lots of players.

When you use 3D, each eye has to see a different image. The passive 3D system on my TV splits the 1080 lines into 2 lots of 540 lines. One lot for each eye. So the image that you see has a resolution on 1920x540. That is simply how it is. If your 3D system is an active system then alternate frames are shown to each eye so you do get the 1920x1080 resolution. You are right, 3D on a passive system does look blockier and jagged but it has advantages over active. Is your monitor active or passive?

But the passive 3D on my TV splits the resolution so only half the resolution goes to each eye.

Just had my first race online and some dickhead called monomorph was just ramming everyone until he was at the back of the pack and then he retired.

What is with the humungous update? Let us play the sodding game.

And here is me deliberately getting the PC version because I figured it would look so much better than the PS3 version, with a good graphics card.

Well, I am looking forward to tryng this if it gets fixed. I played GT5 in 3d and it does add something to the game when you can see the depth. Problem is though that you lose half the resolution in passive 3D.

Problem is that we are coming to it 3 days later than in the US. I would love to get stuck into the online right now but have to wait until friday. What is the punishment system like? Is it still the traffic lights? And do you still have playlists that you have to play in to get your level up? If it was just custom races then it would be far better.

I bought it. Only cost me £19.90 to pre order the black edition so I thought for that money I can't really go wrong. So hopefully I should be playing it on Friday. Codemasters better have delivered the goods this time.

Their official answer is that they are catering to their core audience who have told them that they are not moving to next-gen just yet. (Spin, as usual.) The real reason, of course, is that they wanted to get this game out quick to capitalise on the disappointment of Grid 2, but they haven't had time to develop it for a new platform. They know all the people that hated grid 2 are on last gen consoles. That is their market.

One thing that does concern me about Grid Autosport... Grid 2 was clearly aimed at teenage, american "fast and furious" fans. Those, I suspect, were the people online doing all the ramming. They will now be attracted to this Grid Autosport game, thinking it is aimed at them too. I do not want to pay a large sum of money for this game and find that online is full of 12 year old rammers. I suppose the only answer is to watch the forum for the first week or 2 after release and see what the consensus is. The problem with that though is that by the time you buy the game, everyone else is 2 weeks ahead of you and it is very hard to catch up.

As well as the actual penalties, have the collisions been sorted out so that they are actually more realistic? In Grid 2, two cars travelling 30mph would crash and both cars would fly off at 100mph. It was ridiculous.
