Thanks for the response. And I see what you're saying, you have your workflow and know what you need and in the long run it'll be a lot more streamlined and less hassle. I wouldn't exactly call the banks in Sweden soft. Yes, compared to Monte I guess they are soft. But if you go any deeper than that thin layer, you have the concrete banks we've unfortunately come to know from Wales (and Greece). For Sweden, they basically hung a down comforter over a brick wall. In contrast, hop in RX and go bump into the walls and barriers, see how the car behaves a lot more realistically? That's how it should be in other locations, including Sweden behind the fluffy layer.

Yes, but the sun actually shines in NZ. That should make it quite different when compared to Wales. :p

I always wondered, wouldn't it be more efficient to hire a local surveyor to gather the data needed for a particular location/stage and maybe even a local photographer, than to send a handful of game devs around the world? Not saying the devs don't know what they're doing, but using people that do a particular thing for a living seems like it'd be more cost effective and quicker.

Yeah, I still don't understand how replacing Evans with an even more inexperienced driver was a good thing. I could understand if they brought in a veteran, maybe even someone that's retired. So now you're sitting there again with one driver that you "don't expect to win" or is in a "learning period". Technically M-sport didn't let him go as he's still going to be driving their latest R5 Fiesta in the WRC2, and I think I recall reading some select events in the WRC as well. Perhaps he's taking part in the development of the 2017 car, which would explain the move. Plot thickens.

I would've rather had a better damage system implemented than time spent adding a rock that appears randomly on a stage, or something like seat adjustment. If I'm not mistaken this was already mentioned...licencing. These not smart people in high positions simply don't want their cars to be crashed. Idi.... The only explanation I can recall is Paul saying they wanted to make the cars durable enough so people finished stages instead of just restarting and that they might've made them a bit too durable. I don't buy the licensing angle because I would imagine companies, if they do care, care about what the car looks like to the player. Given that you can bust up a car pretty good in game already as well as inflicting terminal damage on the car, I don't see how it could come down to licensing. What we're talking about here is translating the cosmetic damage to some kind of mechanical damage that the player can get feedback from. Which the mod proves is already in the game, it's just not implemented.

The question I think of when I see things like the co-driver/pacenotes being edited, permanent helicam added, an awesome damage mod being done. All these things were done with relative ease, I mean it's not as if the engine had to be rewritten to do any of this. Why haven't [some of] these things already been done by the devs? They were all things asked for since very early on. Like the damage mod, it's insane what the engine is actually capable of compared to what we have in game. It makes you see just how laughable it is set to currently. http://www.racedepartment.com/threads/whatever-you-do-dont-crash.115862/ http://www.racedepartment.com/threads/ultra-for-dirt-rally-1-02.115564/page-2 Suspension arms can be damaged, locking up the (car) wheel in some cases, but it always affects the handling. I didn't get to test it that much yet, but it did feel like it made collisions with banks and other roadside objects a bit more believable instead of being thrown all over kingdom come. The above image is from bumping into a bank too hard. Edit: And yes, the tire greatly inhibits the car's acceleration, and as well you can feel the FFB pulling to the side because of the messed up wheel.

The mighty Semetin, onboard of the real stage: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqM-MdNWL58 Edit: Was looking for this, is pretty cool. Someone combined real life and game footage. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IHqnRPy7KnU

It's pretty obvious the Legend edition is going to contain the infamous Audi Quattro S1 E2. :naughty:

I have over 300 hours, so I don't know what you're on about. Not to mention being here for pretty much all of EA. I don't see anywhere in my post that I implied or stated I was speaking about myself.
-
Oh, you're behind the curve then unfortunately. Because apparently all you need is a little over 8 hours of play time (and didn't own/participate in EA) to set world record times. Guess all those hours put into Farming Simulator 15 paid off.

Does CM have the ability to link racenet names with steam ids?

I thought Ostberg was having better results at Citroen than he ever had at M-Sport? And I'm disappointed Evans isn't getting at least one more year to show his stuff, this is only his second season in a WRC car right? Maybe he was wanting too much money? -
And I think VW has shown they don't much care for rules or regulations.

I'd like to see what Kajetanowicz could do in the WRC. He's consistent and quick, especially on events he hasn't done before. -

Evans is out? Was M-Sport just not able to (re)sign either of their drivers or what? He's still fairly young and new at the WRC level, I think a huge amount of potential. Hope he finds a seat somewhere, Toyota maybe? -
There's no need to slide in DR anyways when you can just bounce or fly where you need to go. ;)

That's what I'm talking about, I past the url there, hit enter, see it for a split second in the post, then it's gone. Or paste it in there, finish writing the post, then post comment, it doesn't show up. I've tried restarting the browser, clearing cache when it happens, nothing.

Probably nothing, maybe it's something, and most likely always been there but I hadn't noticed til earlier. I do know not all games have it though. Why don't images show up anymore when I add an image url?

Damn, just tried the mk2 at Wales, here's a small clip: https://media.giphy.com/media/77Y3XrvWsCTeM/giphy.gif

I thought they got rid of active diffs starting in '06 (yes, there were some exceptions to the regulations)?
-
The '07 Focus had a different grille and different headlights (more reflective material/chrome in the units themselves). The pic they showed of the Focus in game is the '09. The changes occurred I believe in '08 along with some modifications to the engine. I think the only difference between the '08 and '09 are cosmetic changes. I could be wrong, but I believe the Focus from '06 onward shared the same Duratec 2.0L engine. It was a heck of a car, it's a shame that Hirvonen was pretty much the only works driver in the Focus in '08 and '09, as they could've easily taken 2 more manufacturer's titles. And dare I say, if they would've gotten some better finishes from Latvala in '09, Hirvonen would've won the title.

That's why you make videos of slower runs, maybe even with a blatant mistake or two. But it's those damn aliens, once they get their mitts on something it's all over. Thankfully, it doesn't seem like they have much interest in all the long Finland stages,
-
Perhaps in game there isn't as much of a difference between WRC cars as there should be? Maybe I just haven't found the right setup or something, but on Kontinjarvi, I'm consistently a few seconds slower with the Fiesta than I am with the '01 Focus.
-
I hope the Focus does at least, love everything about how it sounds.

Sheesh, I would've thought Peugeot would take every opportunity to try and bury the 307's existence, not celebrate it in games. Nothing good ever came from that car.
