F1 2015 is just another variation of the EGO engine. We learnt a lot about the nature of how EGO is developed the past few months and it's no where near as straight forward as is common reported in the gaming press or on wiki. There isn't really a straight forward v1, v2, v3, v4 the way wikipedia says. DiRT Rally is, essentially as much a new engine as the one in F1 2015.

I wouldn't mind if they'd use Dirt Rally (the stages, cars, etc.) and rework it using their new game engine plus overhaul the physics to create V3. Once that is done, release it as an EA game. During the EA period they can do what they've done so far which is adding more cars and locations, and update or add features. Don't see the next DR chapter as Dirt Rally 2 but see it as Dirt Rally 2.0. An improved version of Dirt Rally with more of everything. Anybody against this idea? @KickUp? What's your view on this? Were it so easy. Thing is, reworking the game engine a great deal means that a lot of those assets like existing stages and cars will also need to be reworked. Sadly, they can't just be dropped in. To what extent they'd have to be reworked is hard to say. So you're not so much as just adding new content, you're having to rework a lot of the existing content and then do the new content. Reworking old content means less new content, but all-new content probably means less overall content.

k, but what can be done with it? liveries? cars? tracks?? No, no and no.  It was confirmed months ago that none of those would be possible. So, if none of them... whats left? :hushed:  https://twitter.com/Kick_Up/status/668767175818256384 Things that were listed as possibilities in previous DiRT Shows would be the safest bet.

k, but what can be done with it? liveries? cars? tracks?? No, no and no.  It was confirmed months ago that none of those would be possible in such an official capacity. Cars and liveries in particular just aren't going to happen due to licensing which both Codemasters and Steam would be responsible for as curators.

Perhaps. Maybe even the most official outside of Rally Cross. *whirls hands like an evil hypnotist* Who knows what will actually be released though. Paul's openly admitted a bunch of the liveries they've made in-house had to be binned at the last minute for licensing reasons.

I think the more blatant teasing, or promoting gossip as it were, any community testers really did was about the cars, or rather the liveries, for the 2001 Impreza and Focus.  In saying the Focus would have an official(ish) livery, but not the one everyone wanted (Martini). Which had lots of guesses before the test car livery finally showed up. Mind you, I'm sure the people who went to Codies actually signed NDA's and such. That's not been the case with the 0.75, 0.8 and 1.0 community tests, but we're honourable little peeps.  :p

Let's not forget what the US version of the Focus looked like in the late 00's.  Those front grills were pretty ew.

First week of December at the very earliest. Tops? With no physical release and so no solid date where it goes gold and pushed out for manufacture, could easily be 5 weeks and the end of December, if not pushed back into January. You never know what's going to come up.

There's quite literally nothing to get. It's completely nonsensical, which the advert itself points out with the little jelly snake literally saying "What does that mean!?" and getting annoyed by it. A lot of people found it very memorable, which is what you want in advertising, with the bonus of being imitable. The sweets are pretty nice too, if expensive.

I want to like it, but that front grille... It's like a Basking Shark. Om to the power of Nom.

Open to interpretation. Strictly speaking, the question was "Would it make it any easier." Strictly speaking, the answer was, "No." As in it wouldn't make it any easier. A WRC DS3 was always considered a very long shot and many were surprised to even see it in WRX form. Miracles can happen, but todays news isn't going to make any difference either way.

If there is one thing we could take from the release of Modern Masters and the hiccup that happened there at quite literally the 11th hour, it's that no one, not even the dev team, can really be 100% absolutely sure until the ink in on paper, maybe not even dry, and the update is live.

Paul's been tweeting though https://twitter.com/Martijn_vanHoek/status/667303798709194758 https://twitter.com/Kick_Up/status/667303891139035136 In case anyone was wondering if todays announcement that there will be no Citreon works team in 2016 will have any impact, be it negative or positive.

It's been all but confirmed with the i20 hint and paul saying on twitter 2010 leagues are about to get better.  Yeah, but will it just add some cars, or fully complete it? (as in all cars remaining in the class) We don't know exactly. Well, some of us might be slightly better informed. There might just be a reason why some gossipers are being distinctly less gossipy as of late. So you can gossip about the lack of gossip as it were. But we can't gossip about the lack of our own gossiping. In conclusion: TRUMPETS

Yup, that's basically all it is. It's just a distribution deal. Most likely the one with Bandai-Namco has expired and instead of renewing, they've gone to Koch-Media. Presumably it's a better deal. Only really about distribution networks, its unlikely to make any difference to anything else like funding. It's not like they've bought shares or are investing in Codies.

Seems like they could be moving headquaters but not sure if that article is legit? Moving headquarters? What article? The press release only talks about taking over distribution of games in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the Americas. Previously, Bandai-Namco (believe it or not) were doing it.

Sure they could, just show the tire tread. Then people will have to really research for that exact pattern, and which cars use it most often. Pfft, a car was identified by a tiny section of the roll cage and how it was welded in a location only visible when the boot was open.  And it was done within a couple of hours. The lesson has been learnt. There are insanely dedicated people who are just too damn good at figuring these things out! I don't know, searching tread patterns could be more difficult than you think. Not to mention that they're obviously replaceable. I think it would be incredibly difficult. I'd have thought impossible. But at this point, I wouldn't put it past someone here figuring it out either!

If any more bones were thrown, there might not be any surprises left.  IDing the i20 from that photo pretty much proved they can't show a part of any car.  :p

That's not really how this game has worked. There's never been anything about Hill Climb on the timeline after Pikes Peak, so it's not like it's been abandoned or cancelled.  They've just already released everything they said they were going to. Now they are talking about an all-gravel version of PP. That's not abandoning it. As for coding, if it was that simple it would already have been done like it was for DiRT 3. Same applies for adding new tiles for replacement car liveries. That system has changed since DiRT 3 and is much less moddable. Hmm. I'm still sticking to my story that I swear when they released PP they had a car pack on the timeline that disappeared. You can't make me believe otherwise. I don't need to, because you're absolutely right. A car pack did disappear from the timeline. :) Unfortunately, it's not relevant. The car pack, which was timed between Pikes Peak and Germany/Tarmac Terrors was the Classic Icons pack. When the date came and went with nothing happening, it was revealed this pack was actually just the Group B cars that had been brought forward into the initial release and the timeline hadn't been updated to reflect that. That's the one and only item which was on the timeline and didn't get released. Though it technically did anyway. Edit: You can find the original timeline in full here http://steamcommunity.com/app/310560/discussions/0/611704730330741178/

It's not the most adventurous answer, but the latter is most likely with hints towards the future. There's a lot to talk about with the Early Access adventure coming to an end.

Very nice, look's like I've just garnered a new interest in DR, But it means I'm going to have to make a lot of duplicate folders... I wonder if there's any way to get into the code files to just remove the restrictions? If only my programmer friend was interested in DR. I think we're hopeful that v1 of the game, or very soon after it when all the cars are v2, will remove those restrictions wherever possible. Other cars on Pikes Peak has been long talked about and it makes even more sense now after deals for more Hill Climb cars fell through. Licensing issues may force RX cars to stay on RX tracks, as well as keep other cars off them. That depends on the FIA WRX folks, so more tricky methods may be required there. Is that what happened to Hill Climb? I figured they stopped since everyone seems to hate on it. Anyways, I only know some very basic programming, but there's got to be a bit of code in one of those .ini or.xml files that could be changed to true or deleted. That's not really how this game has worked. The more people will know, the sooner it will be refined ;) I meant the post wasn't as refined as I wanted as it described limitations, etc, etc. Not the method. There's not a whole ton to be done really. Looks like I deleted it anyway.  :p
