No no no, @gfRally has stolen the #ThatOtherCar hashtag and insists it belongs to the 2015 Subaru. #ThisCar is some kind of alleged un-drivable monster. I guess the Yaris would be #ThatMaybeSomeDayCar

If you're renaming all the RX files, then yes. It's all in that folder. I've taken the Impreza, as a Celica, up Pikes Peak with the Impreza physics. Was a joy.

Given the short amount of time between Finland and Sweden, don't expect any changes to have been made just to accommodate v2 cars. Like I said, work began on those back in May and we had 1.5 released in June. If it's down to track design, thoughts to adjust Finland would have already been flying around internally some time ago. As for putting an RX car on a rally stage (or vice versa! but be wary doing that since Rally cars don't have AI models), you basically just have to pick a rally car to replace, back up its folder and move it to somewhere else on your HDD, copy/paste the RX car to make a duplicate and then rename every single file to be the same as the car you are replacing.  This might look like the Subaru 555, but it's actually the Celica GT4 (though with importing a DiRT 3 car, you don't replace everything)

It depends what the actual problems are. We're assuming it's the track, but then again that's something they've made based on their measurements from actually going there with spirit levels, etc. Did they tweak them to fly better? Maybe. Then again, work on v2 began back in May so they would have had a long time to know if Finland was going to 'fly' as it were) The physics is a lot of factors. Generally, Paul is saying its how the cars behave on an aerodynamic level, which doesn't strictly have anything to do with mass anyway, so making the cars 'heavier' wouldn't need to be done. For example, if the cars are generating too much lift while flying. Then you would change that without touching the mass or downforce and the car won't fly so far. He's already said the cars mass (kudos to you @KickUp for knowing that if we're throwing around KG, it's mass not weight!) is the same between v1 and 2. So we don't know the tracks are the problem. Paul doesn't seem to think they are the main issue.

Re-profiling the tracks would be an absolutely massive undertaking, even if it was 'just' the jumps being changed. The geometry needs to be changed, it affects the side of the track meaning every single rock and tree needs to be adjusted, etc. It's not going to happen any more rapidly than another new physics pass and we really don't need Paul to tell us that (though he did already basically say as much in the DiRT Show anyway. They have their hands full just considering updating Monte with the soft snow tech).

in interviews of rally finlanf drivers often say they go flatout.  there is no reason to getting a puncture just by jumping...... Note how he said non-WRC car. This is a kind of flawed argument right off the bat though. As we clearly know, the cars in the game are flying further and higher than real ones. You especially know this since almost every post you made was that very subject.  :p So we're going to have to treat these jumps a little bit differently than we do in real life. Same as we do for quite a lot of this game, or any game, because they aren't perfect. Hit those jumps a little slower and more carefully, you'll jump in a way that is closer to real life and the tyres are very unlikely to puncture. Hit them flat out and you will jump in a way different from real life, a more severe way, so it's not unreasonable that the consequences are also different and more severe. Cause and effect. I almost wonder how many people who say they want a hardcore damage mode would actually use it if we're complaining about punctures from the altitudes and impact force of these jumps. Given how the cars are flying, flat out DiRT Rally style jumps will just destroy the suspension and the  wheels themselves would just burst up through the bodywork.

Hang on a second, are we seriously talking about making the tyres tougher everywhere just for the sake of Finland? Why compromise the other 5 locations when all you have to do in Finland is apply a tiny bit of brake before a jump and try to land cleanly? I haven't punctured a tyre purely from cleanly going over a jump in Finland since the 3rd day of the community test before it even went public!

No, it's not that simple. For one thing, it takes longer than that to make the decision, create and implement physics changes. Work on v2 basically started knocking around before even Pikes Peak, which is why we had 1.5 introduced for new cars back in June. Besides, Steamspy isn't 100% accurate. For DiRT Rally right now, it has a 22,000 margin of error for owners. It's somewhere between 151,629 and 173,887 That's not accurate enough to track just 13,000 units as definitely being refunded. Steamspy is nothing more than a rough guide.

    DiRTy Gossip

Doubt it. We don't have refund figures, so can't say if that's actually been high. v2 seeming easier doesn't mean there was a conscious decision to make the game easier. Harder doesn't always mean more realistic. We do know that DiRT Rally has more than 3x the number of PC owners that WRC4 has, despite being out for less time. WRC4 was also released a long time before the refund policy came into affect, so refunds won't have had a big dip in that games numbers. WRC5 has a max of 9,000 Steam owners, so DR has 18x the sales, despite being Early Access (albeit available for a lot longer now). WRC5 might well have suffered from a lot of refunds since people complained of performance issues, bugs, etc.

According to Steam Spy, 173,118 owners, plus or minus 11,477 Since Steam is the only way to get the game, that's something we can take as pretty accurate and should also take into account refunds, etc (if someone refunded the game, they no longer count as an owner).

#ThatCar is a long running joke. Might notice whenever the Quattro appears in a DiRT Daily, it's called #ThatCar Saying as Paul said a couple of weeks ago that #ThisCar is still to come and that he's more recently said it's not going to be in Winter Wonderland, the only conclusion is be it's coming after 1.0

    #ThatCar is the Quattro. ;) I asked more about #ThisCar a couple of weeks ago (though I mis-remembered the hashtag) https://twitter.com/BrySkyeGaming/status/654345994021306368 https://twitter.com/Kick_Up/status/654559257002700800

The conversation when it came up was related to the Quattro, aka #ThatCar Which was famed in the studio for being dreaded, difficult to drive, etc.  Since the line was "Just wait till we introduce #ThisCar" the implication is something even more tricky. Doesn't sound like any Subaru to me.

lol... over 6 damn months he's teased me with whatever #ThisCar will be and it's still apparently no closer to be revealed. @KickUp I may, possibly, perhaps be starting to see why @Hatward said you were actually a worse troll than him.

Paul said none of the "super secret" cars will be in 1.0 Indeed, and we also don't know (correct me please) if the i20 etc will be in 1.0 Unless something goes wrong in the mean time, it should be. Paul posted the photo in response to the specific question about teasing a new car from Winter Wonderland.

Funnily enough, in Poland Red Bull is the top of the line energy drink (and definitely doesn't taste like a bubblegum), while everything else reeks of urine or cheapness. That includes Monster ones as well (no Kick ones here, at least haven't seen one yet). Then again, Coca Cola here is million times worse than Coca Cola in UK for example, even when the leading soda drink there is Dr Pepper. I really don't want to turn this into a discussion about drinks when I just having a bit of fun about there being more Red Bull cars than Monster ones in the game with the official "FIA World Rallycross Championship Presented by Monster Energy" license, but I have no idea why you'd think Dr Pepper is the leading softdrink in the UK. Coca-Cola is by far and away the leader, like in most of the world. 2nd is Pepsi, but with 50% less sales. So coke has a huge lead. Though bottled water, if that can be called a soft drink, is set to become the #1. Bit unfair though since that'd be a total of all the different brands. Red Bull is the best selling energy drink in the UK (unless you count Lucazade, but that's isotonic rather than caffeinated) and like Coca-Cola is considered the premium. I don't really like the taste of it though. That's just me. Personally, it reminds me of those blue bubblegum flavour juice drinks we'd get from newsagents in little plastic cartons with a film top where the straws to poke through them were provided by the shop (which don't taste like actual bubblegum btw) But gone rather stale.  We are quite literally talking about a matter of taste here. :D And my taste buds just aren't a fan. *ahem* As for the 2015 Subaru, I don't think we can really depend too much into pictures posted as teases. We don't really have to look any further than our newest Ford Focus in the game having a different front from the photo we were teased with. Back in the early days, we could have been teased with the Renaults, but those plans really do seem to have fallen through, at least within the initial plans for the game possibly finishing active development with the end of Early Access. Now it's looking more likely that the end of Early Access isn't going to be the end of at least some form of new or modified content, so who knows if certain things which were ruled out may find themselves back on the table in some capacity.

Yup, that would be Hyundai's Kevin Abbring who is a big DiRT Rally fan, has visited Codies since the game was released and, in the view of some, is a big DiRTY rotten cheater in the game for taking rather generous cuts! Kevin driving in a video from the official DiRT Youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QnPuk2ECaIQ Whilst having a driver as a friend of the studio isn't enough to make things happen on its own, it certainly doesn't hurt having one acting from the inside to get the team to get involved, which in turn can help things along with the decision makers at a company. That said, let's maintain a note of caution. Things can change quickly in this world. Doors can suddenly and unfortunately close more rapidly than they open up. We've already had a few cases of things falling apart late on in DiRT Rally and it could still happen, so let's at least be prepared for that.

Whenever I need to take an energy drink, I personally prefer Red Bull. Gives me more Kick to awaken that Monster energy inside me xD I'm 100% serious  :p https://twitter.com/BrySkyeGaming/status/663002162075668481 Would occasionally drink Red Bull for a little... @KickUp as it were, but thought it tasted bloody horrible. Like a really nasty bubblegum flavour drink that had gone off a few years ago, mixed with a load of extra chemicals. With Monster plastered everywhere in DiRT 2, thought I'd try one and, god damn it, actually liked it. So it's my occasional pickup when trazodone augmented sleep is especially difficult to shake out of. Whoop whoop, etc.

I kinda gathered that, but the thing is that there actually are other ones.  In fact, looking through them just now, there are more Red Bull liveries than Monster ones! All the (current) Energy Drink liveries in the game Random fact: I know we had a debate here about car liveries having no affect on peoples desire to drink or smoke, but I absolutely, 100% blame DiRT 2 for getting me to start drinking Monster.

    DiRTy Gossip

Possible, though a hilariously moot point if RB were to complain, saying as the WRX license means we have Red Bull liveries in the game already on the 208's. Worth bearing in mind DiRT 3 also featured Red Bull liveries (on the C4 no less) and Monster (Ken Block, etc). Honestly, I think Red Bull don't have the attitude of 'our brand or no brand'.  They seem keener just to have their brand in as many places as possible. Possibly part of why they are, in fact, in the WRX to remind people they exist. Also worth noting the lack of Monster liveries outside of WRX as well, which, funnily enough, are most prevalent on the DS3. Citroen have their fingers in multiple energy drink pies (ew) Back when I was tied to the Xbox 360 for DiRT, the situation with liveries in the game was certainly a very big one. Thankfully, we are in a happier place on PC, even if it is a little more complicated.

Which looked completely different from the in-engine game, yeah, but CGI intros and cutscenes are still around. Alien: Isolation made generous use of them. If you're playing a game and wonder why the framerate suddenly dips to 30, or lower, just in cutscenes, it's probably because it's CGI and was rendered at those framerates, so literally can't be any smoother. Funny thing now is CGI scenes can sometimes look worse than in-engine because of video compression.

Oh, that's just one of the renderings from the original Colin McRae Rally. The same CGI model used in the games FMV intro. You can see the games original logo above the car number. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8owNpPgutM8
