  1. Hi, I have some ideas for improving this game and wonder if others agree. I don't want to put them in a long list because it would be too long and boring. Besides, it's a new forum and basically empty at the moment anyway. The suggestions are about playability and accessibility - not about mechanics or rules or bugs. Suggestion #7 - improved manual or additional on-line info. I have the manual here. Pages 1 and 2 are health warnings, parental control etc. Pages 3 and 4 are 'welcome', what autosave does, how to navigate the menu and an explanation of the game screen. Pages 5 and 6 are the controls - how to go faster and slow down. Pages 7 and 8 are about all the different game modes you can play. Pages 9 and 10 are credits and support options. So in a v thin 10 page manual, 4 pages are totally irrelevant to playing the game, 2 just explain how to find your way around the menus and 2 advertise the different game modes you can do. The remaining 2 pages do touch on how to play the game itself - how to go faster and slower. Just 2 pages. Good work Codemasters - you covered everything. This would be fine in an arcade game, but this is F1. Based on that info, no new gamer could succeed in career mode for eg. The manual either needs to expand to include car setups, tyre rules and wear or have an on-line link that has the details. The links in the manual are pretty useless. I want to point out that the lack the of details in the manual doesn't affect me personally - I know enough to more or less play the game. But thats because I like racing games and am willing to put in the extra effort. More casual gamers won't (and don't) - there was a work colleague who bought it a month before me and he just shelved it. So it's a general suggestion to improve playability and accessibility again. Suggestion #8 - Get rid of the unreal bits in this 'real' simulatio I know F1 isn't really a simulation, just a game, but it's supposed to be more 'real' then others. Why then am I forced to pick a rival halfway though the season? You cannot cancel it (I try each season) , but it has to be done. Why? I cannot think of any sport except boxing where that happens. It's rubbish. I can see the challenge is used to get promotion to other teams (when you beat your rival), but that is too simplistic. I have never heard an F1 driver 'lay down a challenge' - to another driver. It also negates any worth to the experience points, which pop up after each race and scroll across the screen without any explanation or relevance as to what is going on. What are they? What do they do? Nothing so far as I can see. Feel free to flame AC
  2. I made the posts in the way I did for the reasons I stated in the posts themselves. There are over 200 posts in (your own words) 'tons of requests' thread. So go through them and get back to me with each of the 5 points I made. I got bored after page 2. Did anyone else ask to access the selection menu via the pause button? If they did why isn't it flagged? I will post my last few suggestions nonetheless for the reasons I have already stated. I think they are of value, because they are focused on playability and accessabiltity only, so  won't get swamped with the other stuff. I am trying to help by suggesting improved playability, whereas the existing threads get bogged down in mechanics and rules. Why don't you tell me about your thoughts on my suggestions? Rather then trying to amass everything under one unmanageable thread. AC
  3. I do not spam the forums. I made the posts in the way I did for the reasons I stated in the posts themselves. Cut and post examples of duplicate requests and compare them to mine. I have made 5 requests so far. They are specific. I never claimed they were original, but 'Need better replays' is not the same as my request for lap positions, times, car status etc like in GT5. 4. My suggestions are very specific. If you start a thread with 'any suggestions' it gets swamped and overloaded. I only have a few suggestions which I think would improve the playability and accessabilty of the game. I am really trying to help. If you look at my latest one, it is v v specific. But I think it would be lost if people have to scroll through pages and pages of other suggestions before they see it. I only have 1 or 2 more I plan to post and will do so.
  5. Hi, I have some ideas for improving this game and wonder if others agree. I don't want to put them in a long list because it would be too long and boring. Besides, it's a new forum and basically empty at the moment anyway. The suggestions are about playability and accessibility - not about mechanics or rules or bugs.   Suggestion #4: Simpler wheel set-up. I have a logitech G27 wheel and am generally quite happy with it. With games like GT5, I install the game and the wheel just 'works'. I don't have to change anything from the default settings. I might up the force feedback a bit but that's it. But with F1 I had to spend some time customising the various wheel options (linearity etc) before it was working well. Not only that, but each version of F1 requires different wheel settings, so for example the settings I wrote down for 2011 did not work at all for 2013. There is nothing in the manual about these settings of course. Luckily, there are some useful posts on the net about what settings to use for each version and what these settings actually do. But it takes time to apply them/test them and customise them to suit me. Time I would prefer to be racing. I can understand that people may want to tweak their wheel settings to get everything right just right for them, but I don't understand why Codemasters can't give you a default setting that just 'works', like in other games like GT. With each version I have had to spend considerable time fiddling with settings before steering is good enough to race. Suggestion #5: Simpler access to the Selection menu while racing.   On a G27 wheel, the button for the selection menu is on the 'centre console' - not on the wheel itself. The selection button allocation is not configurable. So, for example (and this has happened to me), you are in a wet race with 6 laps to go and the rain suddenly eases off - you want to change to intermediates. What you have to do is take your left hand off the wheel (so you can't change gears down anymore) and navigate through a menu on the centre console which you can't really look at (because you are still racing) to select the new tyre type. All this while traveling at 160MPH plus with a corner fast approaching. Obviously in real life drivers don't have to take a hand off the wheel and fumble under the dashboard (or whatever) to request a pit stop. So I suggest... 1. Make the selection button allocation configurable so it can be accessed from the wheel itself. Or even better.... 2. Make the selection options available under the pause menu. Real F1 drivers just make a radio call presumably. I should be able to press pause, make the pit requests and resume the race. My other suggestions are here.....http://forums.codemasters.com/discussion/339/suggestions-for-improvement-in-2014-ps3-1#latest http://forums.codemasters.com/discussion/382/suggestions-for-improvement-in-2014-ps3-2#latest http://forums.codemasters.com/discussion/404/suggestions-for-improvement-in-2014-ps3-3#latest Feel free to flame. Besides, it's a new forum and basically empty at the moment anyway. The suggestions are about playability and accessibility - not about mechanics or rules or bugs.   Suggestion #3: Improved in-game information and team advice. I am not sure what the team (pit crew) actually contribute in this game. They tell me if I am fast or slow (which I can see anyway from the screen), warn me in a race that the guy behind wants to catch up (duhh) and in Q's ' you should qualify easily - save your tires'. It would be nice if the team could keep you updated on tire wear etc during qualifying. eg, 'come in now, chasing that 3 tenths isn't worth it because your tires will be stuffed for the race'. Took me a race or 2 to figure that one out. It would be good if they could also offer tire strategies - do so many laps in Q's to save for race etc. Does the practice session affect tire wear for the race? No. But thats only because I've raced a few seasons. Would be nice to see simple things like that clarified in the manual or in-game.  There are lots of car settings you can alter in the game which is great, but there is no real practical advice on any of them. All you get is a vague disclaimer (eg, aerodynamics - front change needs to be balanced by the rear wing change). Mostly every change you make has a 'has to be balanced by something else' generic text response, or has a description only an engineer could understand. How do you know what to do if you don't want to spend hours researching the web? Nothing in the manual of course. The team should advise on these changes. So if you make a change, they have a say - like in real life. They should also suggest changes - like in real life. As far as I can see, my initial car set-up is the same for monaco and monza - surely the team and I should have a conversation about changing gear ratios etc before the race. It would also be good if I could see which cars have pitted during a race. Some icon to identify which cars have pitted. In real life, people watching a race from home can see this, but in a car in F1 2013 I can't.  Sometimes the pit crew say stuff like 'he has fresher tires' but an indicator would be better. The 'News' feature is most unhelpful. It should give news about other teams car upgrades, not just my own. For eg, according to the 'news', my team was the only one to make any upgrades this season. Besides, it's a new forum and basically empty at the moment anyway. The suggestions are about playability and accessibility - not about mechanics or rules or bugs. Suggestion #2: Improved stats/Historical data. Now it might be that all the below is already possible, but there is nothing in the manual about it and I have pressed every button possible to find it without success. The manual is rubbish - just a list of credits, trademarks and copyrights. The on-line links for more information mentioned are rubbish as well. Everyone likes sports stats don't they? How much faster did you go around Silverstone this year etc? I would like the ability in the menus to review the past practice, qualifying and race results for all tracks I have raced - you just can't do that in this game. You can't even go back to the previous race to see who won! The game does keep stats of a v basic and non-interactive sort of way - they flash past when you start a new venue and they are based on your overall career. But it's all lumped together. So you could spend your first season with Marussia, the next with Red Bull. But the game lumps everything together - 'You have won this many GP's' in your entire career, 'your average finishing position is this' in your career etc. Great, but now I'm in my second season with R Bull. Am I doing any better then the first - can't tell because it's my career stats as a whole. Why can't I I check that? Obviously if you were racing in weaker teams, then race for a better team, the overall stats in the game become pretty meaningless if you are trying to beat more recent performances..  Lets have a whole new menu to view complete previous career stats so I can see how I have improved or how far I need to improve. eg, Racing at a circuit, last year - how fast did I do it in practice, qualifying and race last year and what were the race results? Game breaking bugs that are not fixed

Don't forget this one. A major bug when you have to forfeit races on the PS3...... http://forums.codemasters.com/discussion/310/f1-2013-wet-race-issue-25-ps3#latest AC
  12. Hi, guys buy codemasters games from the playstation when I was 1 and I was entranced by the F1 games released for the old genereazione console ... until 2013, I'll explain ; 2010 to 2012 the game was perfect for someone like me who does not have much time to play and then it set the difficulty to easy and could do great pole position starting first big races and even doubling their opponents , with red bull car type or williams. But in 2013 also set the level of difficulty significantlylower this does not happen, for me to have too high a level of difficulty instill think that a game should be open to allgamers from those more experienced in the most accommodatingas me. So I ask codemasters to lower the level of artificialintelligence of his next F1 2014 tothe easy level so that even people like me who just want to have fun playing career and exclaim that he had busted their ass to mclaren with a simple force india . thanks .. and what do you think? I'm also a 'casual' racer. But I like the degree of difficulty in F1 because although its not as easy as GT5 for eg. it's still possible to win races with the weaker cars. But when you actually win a GP in (lets say) a Force India, I'd like to bathe in the glory for a few minutes and watch the race again with all real time stats displayed and record it for bragging rights - which other games like GT5 do brilliantly. You can't do that in this game which is a real shame. AC

Suggestion #1: Improved race replays. Now it might be that all the below is already possible, but there is nothing in the manual about it and I have pressed every button possible to find it without success. The manual is rubbish - just a list of credits. I would like to see decent race replays available on this game. Take GT5 for eg - In that game you can see positions, track maps, speed and stats and just about everything else on a race replay. It really is impressive and actually enjoyable to watch. With F1 2013, it's just a car going round and round at different angles - v boring. There should also be a facility in-game to record these better replays and view them in-game. F1 2013 Wet Race issue (25%) PS3

The race in Japan was ok. There was a pit stop strategy I could edit before the race and I won (which was nice). To remind people, the bug is there when there is no pit stop strategy on a 100% wet race.. But this bug really needs to be fixed. I had decided that if it happened again in Japan the game would go back in its box for good. I have had to abandon 2 races so far this season because of this bug and it sucks. For now it's still n the PS3 - I am at India. But having to forfeit races because of bad coding is no fun - and should be fixed. And I still have a few races left this season. As I have said, I think the game in general - apart from this huge bug - is good. I will post a wish list for the next version. But I would still like a fix for this bug now. AC
