DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

When did Dirt Rally get paid DLC? Three months after the console versions came out there were the pre-order packs available for purchase.  I am not even sure if we released those on PC. Okay, a light Googling says it was just unlocking fully upgraded cars though, so not really DLC just like... a booster pack?

Toyota confirmed? When Toyota starts dictating what content, in general, you can have in your game, that's when it's time to ditch them. Well they dictate whether or not Toyota's are in.

Not all DLCs are microtransactions to buy new liveries. There are also good DLCs which include new actual and interesting content to the game, for a sort of resonable price. Companies do DLCs because they work for them but this doesn't mean that all of them are useless... For example a DiRT good dlc would be - new location - 5 new cars at between 5 and 10 € depending on the importance of the licences The thing with DLC's I don't like is when people snoop around in the games launch code and find remnants of the DLC that they cut out of the game to sell back to you later. I don't mind DLC as a whole, but if it's content that couldn't be finished on time, release it for free later. If it's wholly new content, (Or in the case of something like the Porsche packs in the older Forza series that needed a huge check to EA) then paid DLC is fine. Paying more for cut content is ludicrous. To give the developer side of it, content gets cut all the time because we always dream of reaching the stars.  As time goes on we are not able to get everything we wanted in.  Bits get dropped.  It might get dropped when 95% complete or it might get dropped when it was still just a placeholder.  Sometimes it is not cut content you are seeing, but planned DLC.  When making a game you want to make sure that the DLC in the future will work and there will not be problems trying to load it, you leave hooks that work with test DLC. As for charging for it later, a large amount of time needs to go into finishing the content that was cut.  Business reasons say to charge for it, it is consuming at least a few hundred hours of people working.  To do an "it's not the same", I don't get to go to the cinema when the Blu-Ray comes out and demand they let me see extended scenes, directors commentary and bloopers for free. I don't think the Blu-Ray analogy really works there. You go to the theater for the big picture experience. Blu-Ray is for home viewing. By that logic, the DLC free version should be in arcades, and the full release should be available at home for the base price. Almost every new Blu-Ray is ~$20, including commentary n such.

I think the issue is that sim games really haven't improved all that much over the years. Compared to other games graphically they're definitely way behind, except for Horizon, which isn't a sim, so. I guess toss the main Forza in that too. I really hope Codies make a new engine and stop trying to constantly update Ego. It's just not working that well anymore. I just hope they make a Dirt Rally 2 and not a Dirt Rally 2.0 with slightly tweaked physics.

Mmm, I don't know, I've had some lamb recently that was pretty darn sweet. Certainly wouldn't trade it for veggie tables.

No one have any good gossip now? How about any fun dinner? Kebabs? Pizza? Cookies? Quetzalcoatl? I saw a Gordon Ramsey video where he makes a "cheap" meal using lamb. I wish I was close to somewhere with cheap lamb like that.

It’s just something I do in my old age now  :D What next? I bet you’ll try and convince us that the Easter bunny isn’t real! Of course the easter bunny isn't real. a 6 foot tall rabbit that poops painted eggs and candy? Santa Claus though, that's a different story. I never stopped believing in you big guy! Just get me another DiRT game for Christmas! My grandad shot the Easter bunny a couple of years ago. Long story short there was 15 adults crying with laughter and 5 children crying because the easter bunny was dead Pics or it didn't happen. Although one time I was fishing in Montana and caught a wooly trout, which are apparently pretty rare. Stupid fish and game catch and release rules.

As if. Kexchoklad is the shieeet. Obviously the words from someone who has never tried a Tunnocks Tea cake, or you would clearly know that the tea cake wins hands down.  I was just going to say that's the words from someone who's never spoken before. There's no way Kexchoklad is a thing. Oh JZ, buy a flight ticket sometime. Get out explore the world beyond your borders.  You can do it! No I can't. But you can purchase the ticket for me. As long as it's a return trip ticket. I'd hate to be stuck in Europe. I can sure, but I won't. What I can do though, is to ship you a box of Kexchoklad. I'll always accept sweets/candy from strangers.

I'm disappointed ye olde Craic wasn't mentioned. Meanwhile, somewhere at Codemasters, @ChristinaMc is sitting at her desk laughing at the fact that the members of a forum are so desperate for news that they have resorted to dissecting an inane tweet about fruit. That's EXACTLY what she wants you to think.

Apart from idiots flying drones where they shouldn't and ruining the fun for everyone with a brain, I'm more interested to know whether or not the engine has been overhauled. It's been needing retirement for a few titles now.

Lol, they switched to UE4, so they could have some poor rain effects and more than one light source. Wonder how the physics will be since they're probably not using their goofy setup.

I actually absolutely couldn't stand that game, I got it through some humble bundle in 2013 and put no more than 46 minutes into it, it did however make me seek out my CMR2004 disk and play through that again, as well as seek out Newer Dirt Titles and Steering wheel controllers. Strange thing that I hated it so much though, since i'm sure I put an absolute tonn of hours into Trackmania Nations back in the day... Why did you hate it? I started looking at the announcement and a lot of people were talking about how mediocre it would be to release it now, but there's still nothing else on the market that comes close to it.

The problem with effects is that we have 16.6(666666~)ms per frame and a very small amount of that is used on effects. It does limit what we can achieve effects-wise :disappointed:  Maybe in the future we'll be able to really push the limits, who knows :) Hey, I know a really easy fix for that, download more ram and just half your framerate. In other news, Burnout Paradise is getting remastered with a PC release date being.... some time. Finally, after ten years I can play on big surf island. Also, I want the next game to get smashy smashy like the old dirt titles.

DiRTy Gossip about DIRT Rally Games

I haven't been paying attention to the WRC release schedule, but Forza was always on a 2 year dev cycle. It's just now theres also Horizon, which is also on a 2 year dev cycle and fills the gap in between. Have the WRC games been on 2 year cycles? they seem to kind of pump out games pretty quickly that I don't pay attention to. If anything, Forza could use 3 or 4 years of development if they really want to create a fresh product.  :D But yeah, I don't think WRC is dropping of the yearly releases either. I could imagine that the license is too expansive not to release every year, so I think V-Rally will either be a replacement for their current WRC franchise because it's too expansive for them, or just a matter of registering the brand now so that they can use it in the future when their WRC license ends in a few years. Another interesting theory would be the Kunos announcement that is taking place in a week. I don't see them build a full off-road project, but maybe they're getting the F1 license for 2018 or 2019? If so, that would free up some money and manpower at Codies which would make the arrival of the WRC license here a bit more realistic as well. Honestly, the main Motorsport series has just gotten disappointing. The Horizon games so far have all been excellent, and been the ones to push the boundaries for the Motorsport to move forward. Not a bad approach actually. I don't think giving Forza a longer dev time will do much other than add more content. The half baked career and god awful microtransactions they've shoved in would still be there. I'm not sure what else would be added that isn't already. Any missing "features" at this point just isn't happening. I wish Kunos just muted people from the forums instead of banning them for stupid reasons. I can't even see what's happening with something I paid for because I said it was ugly? That being said, I highly doubt Kunos is getting the F1 license UNLESS Codies is actually dropping it, but if I know correctly the latest one went over pretty well, so I don't know why they would. *Edit, GTPlanet cites that Codies, Forza, WRC7, and... Race of champions? have all announced an eSports thing, so maybe AC is joining in, and finally adding leaderboards.

No. I did not make sound mods. That was Fonsecker, and he did say they didn't know what they were doing. I stated that Forza looks visually better than Assetto Corsa. I also stated that there seemed to be a tinge of understeer and very little body roll in all cars as was exampled in my Elantra. Even the big SUV's seem to be too stable. Get your facts straight before you start talking smack. Sure I think the dev's are assholes, but the product doesn't even stand on it's own for it to be worthwhile. Phil Fish is an asshole, and I still liked Fez and wanted a sequel.
