Heck, even Forza will be coming out on the PC. If there's a F2P game of AAA grade coming out for a genre, you know the market has to be "fertile". Also, only that many times? BTW, you can get the DLCs on PC as well. Through modding naturally. I've beat that game more times than I remember, mainly due to losing the save game -_- It does not have Big Surf island. And I'm not buying it to get a half baked modded version. Forza on PC is MS attempt at their "universal game app" thing. I'm kind of torn, because I don't want win10 yet, but I do want Forza. Especially if I can run it on triples.... and after how long that game takes to beat it, yeah, I did it about 90% 2 and a half times. I was never good at the crash thing.

You're sad that an excellent niche game is getting even greater exposure to a wider audience? The wider the audience the easier codemasters will return to arcadeism. Less sim, more sales for their next game. A crowd of people who know how to rally can create a better sim than people spouting weird ideas like a test track a large gymkhana etc Less sim, more sales for their next game - in case you haven't noticed, racing sims (this includes rally as well) are really in the zone and it doesn't seem like it's going to end soon. So if we go with that knowledge of the market... More arcade = worse sales, more sim = more sales. I don't know, if Criterion came out with an updated "HD remake" of Burnout Paradise, with Big Surf, all the DLC included, AND wheel support, I'd buy it instantly. Loved that game. Beat it 2 and a half times.

I know Matt Leblanc, and unlike the American Top Gear idiots (minus Faust) he actually at least knows and races cars. Alright, if only they'd hired Chris Harris instead of Evans, that would give a professional touch to an automotive program; however, I doubt Chris Harris turned down the offer. I read they're both involved along with Sabine Schmitz, and some other retired black F1 driver guy? Heh. The hosts are: Chris Evans Chris Harris Eddie Jordan Matt LeBlanc Rory Reid Sabine Schmitz I know Matt and Sabine, and I've no problem with them. Just wish Jeremy and they guys went with Netflix instead. I mean, who has Amazon Prime or whatever?

I know you're itching and rearing to go, but, throttle control....

If you're talking about straight color palettes, then yes. Snow pretty much looks like snow wherever you are. But doing nothing but muggy forests limits you quite a bit. I would still like to see the wales stages in a nice sunny light, and New Zealand is actually quite different. Australia, Spain, France and Italy are all varied a little bit as well, but getting a wider variety of environments can really help mix things up. I'm a Greece fan because it resembles where I live, alternatively, someone who lives in snowy Sweden might like the snow and hate Greece. So more variety is better. I won't buy in to most of the PC race sims because sure, they have 100 GT cars, but I'm not interested in them.

Haha! If you've already done it once I can see the prospect of doing it all again quite off putting! My wheel arrived yesterday afternoon, but I had friends over until after 9pm, so couldn't get playing until they left. I completed my first Championship last night, in my first bought car (Stratos awesomeness). The new wheel/XBone FFB combo feels different but good, the new pedals felt guff (as @thecraicbear said they might), so I swapped back to the G27 pedals and it felt right again. Surprisingly, the G27 H shifter works perfectly with the G920 too). I am actually really enjoying it all over again. I should have got bored with the task of redoing the same old upgrade runs, but no, stayed up far too late... lol I then finished my evening off with another Polo / Kontinjarvi run of 5.57, which is definitely beatable as the setup was wrong, but I'll enjoy the battle when that happens! Should've kicked your friends out.

I don't know, but a well placed log or rock would solve the problem.

It would suck worse if they record them, then don't do anything with it.

Oh no its the "some future title" line all over again.. Well at least we can be assured that Codies can put out a very good Rally game now. Hope management knows the high bar has been set, both for communication (ea) and realism. Any future titles hopefully live up to up to the simulation standards that has been set. I still want to see a Dirt 4 with DR physics.

Yeah, it kind of sucks and the old consoles didn't have that problem. You can swap out the PS4 HDD though... The new consoles are actually missing a lot that the old consoles had. Like being able to store and play music... Or in the case of the Xbone being able to stream from your PC, or playing in the background.... ehh. There's a lot missing. Well I've got a 1TB PS4 and there aren't many games on my shopping list at the moment (in fact the next one I want hasn't even got a release date yet), so hopefully I'll be OK for a while. Back to DiRT and, after an evening with the game, my first impression is that it was well worth the wait. The rallycross is exactly what I was hoping for. I wasn't a fan of the "short" circuit variants, but some of the alternative Holjes configurations are actually pretty good fun. Really pleased that all the cars are "open" in the custom championship from the outset, so you are able to just dive in and try the cars you want without having to do loads of career first. Made a start on the career as well; did the first rallycross Championship in a Super 1600, then had a go at the first rally in a Mini. Was heading for a win in that Championship, but I threw it all away on the last rally. Stupid Finnish trees. I hope other console owners appreciate the experience, but I like the fact that just finishing the rally stages is an achievement, let alone posting a good time in the process! Will do the next rallycross Championship tonight, then hopefully I'll have enough cash for a Supercar and a Group B rally car. Oh, and did my first daily (RS200 on one of the Monte Carlo stages: pretty good introduction to Group B cars!). I was actually doing quite well, but I went into one of the hairpins a bit too hot, spun the car and, in my haste to get going again, managed to mow down some spectators. Double penalty: bugger! Oh well, hopefully today's daily will go better! I've had the game for a year now and I've only gotten to like clubman championship with the Fulvia. :P I just do custom events.

NEW MENUS?! Sweet buttery baby Jesus! What do they look like? Then again, DR's menus aren't as awful as AC's.... Sam stuff you've seen on the console adverts and playtests, they're basically close up slow mo's of the cars instead of the stage overviews we currently have, they do look good :) Oh. I thought it was actually a new menu. Wonder if the videos will get cut off on my triples like the wallpapers now. :p It's fun.

Great channel, thanks) Also, Mashup version: I highly recommend you give it a listen :P A new genre has born, Rally Jungle! --- Are there really PC physical copies without actual installation disc in it? I've recently bought one game and it had but the day one patch was almost the size of the game itself. Yep. It's like buying a CD or Vinyl and instead you actually just get a low res iTunes download. And I hate iTunes as much as I hate Steam.

Interesting to see the press reaction thus far to the console release. I hope what is perceived to be a less mainstream game continues to receive such high praise. I see that the advance code competition is closed, so I now have my fingers (and other limbs) crossed... Well, I heard Ben put in Mexico and a RS1800, so you should be pretty pumped for that. :D I'm also going to take more credit than I probably should for getting you that PS4 code! Well massive thanks to you and everyone who put in a word for me: I am very grateful to you all! I unpacked the PS4 and began downloading as soon as I got in from work last night (obviously!). It's a pretty chunky file (just under 43 GB in total) so I started it off, then popped out for an hour. Came back to find the progress bar was, surprisingly, over half full. 30 minutes later and it said it was ready so, full of excitement (far more than any adult should have for a game) I fired it up, entered my name, tweaked the options and got ready for some rallycross... ...however it turned out the PS4 was lying! It seems the game is "ready" once it has reached approximately 15%. At that stage you can open the game, set all the options and the like, but the bulk of the content is still downloading. Still it wasn't all bad, as you can play two "preview" rally events at that point, one in a Mini Cooper, the other in a Mk.II Escort. Decided to start easy, so I went with the Mini: glad I did, as even with the Mini I was initially struggling! Managed to inadvertently get my first trophy after about 10 corners (I barrel rolled!), but after a few stages it started to click and soon after I claimed my first fastest sector time: hurrah! Read the PS4 manual and discovered you can enable downloading while in "rest" mode, so I left it resting overnight. As of this morning it had downloaded about 20GB, so I'm hoping it might be all done by this evening. That's the most irritating thing about the new consoles. I know you got a digital download, but if you buy a physical disc you HAVE to install all 50+ GB of content, and you only get enough HDD space for 10 games at that point. It's like buying a physical copy for PC and it's just a steam code, the CD doesn't have the content. :| Ah, I didn't know that! So even physical copies have to be fully downloaded? My first disc game (MGS5) should arrive this week, so I was expecting to pop that in and play it straight away!* (*if I can tear myself away from Dirt that is) Yeah, it kind of sucks and the old consoles didn't have that problem. On a side note, I just went back to the first page, and @tbtstt has been waiting FOR 2 YEARS! HOLY CRAP! Don't worry tbtstt, it'll happen. Seriously, can we just give this guy a break and send him a copy?

Hey! Page 500 of the Gossip thread! I feel like we deserve a reward.

Well, I left a comment on the review page. Couldn't think of anything too funny to say, but eh.

So, working on something aside from the planned content/release? And smoke/dust that hasn't been done before.... I would say volumetric, but you sort of shot that down, then again, Nvidia Flow is pretty heavy, you could do a less strenuous volumetric effect, other games have...

Yes/no/maybe ;) Boy, only classy answers from you CM lot. Don't really feel like that would necessarily be a world shattering thing, but alright. Well, I honestly can't give you a definitive answer because I don't know yet. I know it's an issue, it's been bugged up in our list of things to fix so it's just a matter of wait and see. It's definitely something that I personally would like to see fixed so I'll try and push the issue but like I said, I can't say yes or no so... Maybe? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Ah. So then your mysterious project is not that issue then.... Hmmm. Does this game have engine smoke yet? But still not sure that would be a big enough change for potential gossip.... I'll have to have a think. And that's my least favorite thing to do.

They are the same, sort of. Particle systems use sprites :) Are you going to make it so when the cars driving away you don't get that weird ability to see the back of the car and the new dust being kicked up? Yes/no/maybe ;) Boy, only classy answers from you CM lot. Don't really feel like that would necessarily be a world shattering thing, but alright.
