What's even worse is when I do that in my real car.

Urgh, after this morning's UK news, I expect I'll be relying on DiRT 4 to cheer me up even more than I expected to need it to on 9th June.....
No pressure.
I haven't kept up with UK news, but my sister and her husband just got deployed to just outside of London.
I assume it's some kind of problem with the... "refugees."
If you plan on moving though, I've heard @Porkhammer makes great cookies and hands em out to house guests.
It's our government making an unconstitutional power grab to become a one-party state, in a similar way to Erdogan is doing in Turkey - but I suspect you and I have markedly differing political opinions, so I'll leave it there.
So, DiRT 4 hey? That car list or some new previews would be a nice distraction round about now...
You kidding? I love the Constitution, I have a T-shirt with it printed on the front.
Probably should catch up with world events over the past 3 years or so. Typically news just makes you angry, and usually doesn't really personally effect you.

Hearing Norway just reminds me of Lilyhammer on Netflix. Great show.

Well, for me it doesn't really matter how you pronounce each letter specifically in German, because at the end of the day... it all sounds like an order to shoot somebody. Especially the names of christmas :DDidzis said:
In German V=F, S=Z, Z=C :D There's probably some more, but that's what I remember from school :D
Just a small note, since this is kind of a running joke in Poland about the German language (along with the one that there aren't any woman in Germany xD). Best to just ignore this post... completely... why did I even post this again?
I'm just not sure I get the no woman thing... maybe it's a European thing.

+1
I wouldn't want it either. Please make it optionally and give us a setting "bumper cam effects". @urgaffel

In all seriousness though, it's tastefully done and looks correct so it shouldn't break immersion ;)
Hahaha, I was trying to make it obvious that I was joking. :p If that whole argument taught me anything, it's that the front bumper never gets wet during splashes.
I do imagine you spontaneously combusting though.
I'll also give you props for using a new (And perfectly fitting) .gif though.

1) hm ok. Is there a reason behind this? In Dirt Rally I would've preferred half or quarter of the current motion blur strength. Best is completely deactivated for me I guess, but thats then problemativ with youtube compression

I just tested bumper cam in the rain and you get the same rain effect no matter which exterior camera you use (in Dirt 4). I'll see what I can do about the water splashes...
2) At least that. Thats a great step forward then if at least the weather effects work.
Splash Water? What you can do about it? Make water splashing on the whole screen (like every other game would do and DOES do)(obviously you cant use the wiper here, so just let it fade away like it currently does on the windshield without using wiper too. But at least try to do anything to it. Let it at least splash SOME water rather than nothing at all.
Its so ridiculous that I called my lets play video "Splash Water without water" xD And in this case the title fitted sadly perfect and my audience had to laugh about it too xD
I've added water splashes on the camera in bumper and bonnet cam when you go through water troughs. It's never going to be the same as the windscreen splash for various technical reasons but at least there's something there now...
Sweet! But since it breaks my immersion, I can turn it off though right? >:) -

I'm honestly a bit more curious as to what improvements you've made to Nicky. I've been playing Deus Ex lately so I'm thinking some sort of cyber-eye and built in GPS. Maybe a direct comm link.
Nicky will now not call out the notes any more but sends them directly to your brain via telepathy
Yeah, it'll quicker as long as he doesn't think wrong.

@KickUp will there be more water/puddles on the stages than in Dirt Rally? In Wales you see for example some water on the edges of the stages but there seems to be no splashing water when going through them.
What is it that you are most excited about besides YourStage?
Yes there will be more puddles.
Besides Your Stage - improvements tosimulation, RX and Nicky Gristvfx
Fixed it for you

This video shows some rallycross gameplay after the trailer:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oXeEFOuiCYo
Looks fun, but will probably be pretty limited as far as content goes. Kinda weird having GRC and World RX cars together as well.
That doesn't look bad at all! I am not into RX at all, but I hope they decide to do some Rally stuff too!
I think PC2 has somewhat more realisitc lighting than D4, just can't put my finger on the source. Maybe a mixture of reflections on metal and visible sunlight rays, but the difference isn't that big.
Compared to D4, DiRT has a whole lot better particle effects (dirt) than PC2 though, which is a huge immersion part if you drive offroad.
I'm not really exited for PC2, after how PC1 turned out. Promised features never came and although the physics were plausible, the FFB was utter BS... I never found a setup, that would work with my T300 and give me proper feedback from the front wheels, which made catching a slide a PITA, compared to DR, where I can hold a drift almost naturally, because the wheel properly feeds back how the wheels are turning and moving.
PCars is running UE4 with a full PBR suite. I don't think D4 is, but I could be wrong. I typically don't like UE's "realistic" ultra glossy materials and stock PP effects, but it looks like SMS worked it out. D4 also has the brilliant and wonderful @urgaffel using the FumeFX to get the prettiest dirt around.
I'm also waiting to see how PC2 actually ships, but based on how much they've changed their tone internally I've got a reserved excitement for it. The FFB system actually does make sense once it's visualized, the problem is that NONE of the SMS crew could seem to actually show/explain how it works. There's a community made app that takes Wheelchecker's LUT and gives/allows you to find the values you need.
The FFB is actually pretty decent, but the physics are still a bit lackluster, and sliding isn't great.
Project CARS isn't running Unreal Engine 4, it's running their own MADNESS engine. Directly from their website: "Project CARS runs on Slightly Mad Studios' proprietary MADNESS game engine that was built specifically for next-generation platforms and is scalable to a wide variety of modern PC specifications."
I thought the first one was UE. Or something close to it.

I love it when people say developers should do this and do that, you imply that they have no knowledge of this car's history when it is literally their job to research and know these cars inside out and work with ones IRL for sound recording etc.
That reminds me of a Koenigsegg CCX release in NFS World and the community manager at that point posted specs for the Koenigsegg CC8S, rather than CCX. While one could say the cars look similar on the first glance, when you go under the hood... well, not so similar anymore (completely different engine, over 200BHP in difference, improved suspension etc.)
So just because it is their job doesn't mean they are doing a good job at it. That said, Codies definitely are (I mean good obviously xD).
There's a reason NFS World was shut down.

Any software developers favourite question. Trust me, I'm a developer and I loooooooove when someone asks me that question in a condescending tone.
My dad's a world class mechanical engineer, and my buddy is an electrical engineer, and I LOOOOOOVE asking them that question, in the most condescending tone possible. >:)
That PCars trailer (other than the extremely annoying... "music") actually looks pretty good. I just hope it has more cars I'm interested in. I never was much into Formula or GT so I mainly drove the Focus.

Mmkay yeah. Guns are "fun" as long as they are in the right hands. But it's not to discuss in this thread.
True. And my only note is 99% of the hands their in is totally fine. yet again it's the 1% that ruins it for everybody, just like Korean hackers, arguing about what gets wet where, and whether or not there's any helicopters scoping you out.
If I'm being truthful, I'd like to more restrictions on idiots being able to drive...

@KickUp DiRT 4 will have proper triple-screen support?
Nothing special is planned. Usually we have GFX companies that help us implement new tech but no deals have been struck so if it happens it will need to come later.
Didn't Nvidia recenterly come out with a new triple screen thing along with Ansel and it's fancy sound reverb thing?
I guess my monitors are at a pretty mild angle so it doesn't really bother me, but still a bit disappointing.

Yo, @urgaffel what gives? There's no helicopters throwing buckets of water on the camera? And what's with the wimpy amount of smoke? We burning candles under the tires or burning rubber?
Hopefully you've got an .ini file somewhere that some of those crazy kids will hackerize their way into and give it a big smoke multiplier like for the previous games. >:)
*flags as abusive*
To be fair, it looks better now :P That was an earlier build.
To be fairer than fair, it looks great. Just... not enough.
The smoke and rocks being kicked up looks great. I just got a little let down by the lack of DR amounts of plume.
But I'll believe you made it better.
You haven't seen the replays yet...
Ooh... neither has anyone else though, so I don't feel too left out. Not everyone has the privilege of making the things work.

...So, @cmsoundfx I'm just curious how well the new fancy pantsy sounds work with full surround sound. DR was pretty darn good, and I'm looking to get a surround setup that isn't crap. It won't have that weird muffled audio filter for the rear channels like some games will it? (Please say no, please no, please...)
For anyone who doesn't know, the "surround sound" headphones fake the audio by causing a bit of time delay between the headphones, as well as adding a muffling effect behind your head. It works fine for headphones, but when you have an actual surround setup your head does that muffling naturally due to discrete audio sources physically placed around you, but most games leave that weird filter in. In effect, it really ruins the sound, and as you move the camera around a sound source you hear this kind of crap instagram filter take over. It's not natural and it's very noticeable. The Witcher 3 had full support for 7.1 without filters and it was AMAZING. You could follow a noise as it moved around you, and you could tell how far away it was. Every time a door closed behind me in game I thought someone came in my room.

Yes, but ones a playable location, ones a trackside object.
Another story from my brother, apparently many moons ago some woman managed to anger my brother and his friend. It's not hard to anger them.
The rebutted with dumping roundup weed killer (not sure if that's a thing in the U.K./Europe) all over her lawn. Nothing grows there to this day. That was like 15 years ago.
That's not even close to the worst thing they've done. The worst thing they've done is just too disgusting for public consumption.
