ToCA Race Driver 1 - how to install it if the installer on the CD-ROM fails (e.g. on Win8.1 64bit)

Hi, I got up to the point where I wanted to launch RaceDriver.exe, but it keeps saying that my disc is wrong. I think it the registry file may be the problem but i cant seem to figure it out. Could it be the version of the game that may cause this problem? I have the Directors Cut.
