    The PC Thread

My Geforce driver only 2 months old, but they just brought out new driver for GTX 960. Installed and now glitch-free, stutter-free, surround vision at 60fps. From thinking technology wasn't quite up to this, I'm now gob-smacked. Luckily new racing games (including F1 2015 :)) have the 3-monitors programmed properly without the fisheye, which you get used to but could still do without. Cheers Hughesy

It's a fair few games, though this one's the worst. One of the reasons some people have problems with this game is the unusable menus which need moving onto the central monitor by adding following lines to the .ini file:- FE_SCREEN_HEIGHT = 1080FE_SCREEN_LEFT = 1987FE_SCREEN_TOP = 0FE_SCREEN_WIDTH = 1987 where 1987 = bezel adjusted single screen width. I will try other driver, thanks Hughesy.

Anyone know what's going on here? Happens in-game, but mainly on trasitions to cut-scenes etc and often on menus. See towards end of video, bottom half screen goes black. (3-monitor (with drivers), GTX970, i7, 16GB). Running low-ish graphics but at 60fps. Have tried everything with V-sync etc. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kb4-NEzeE-g&list=UUYtAiO4eqv5NgvtCPNBSNYQ

    The PC Thread

Guys, I am starting up a Project Cars Formula A/B PC League (whichever turns out best) shortly after release. We will then either continue with it or move to F1 2015 when that comes out (if I can ever forgive CM for not fixing 2014). It will be traction control/abs free (hence the forced ditching of F1 2014) and run on Tuesdays.  If any of you are interested, please let me know. PS:- Took your advice and have ordered this from palicomp plus 3 x 28" monitors:- WARRANTY: 3 YEAR RETURN TO BASE Warranty  POWER SUPPLY: 650W PSU - CORSAIR VS - 85% Efficiency (Low/Mid Gaming)  INTEL HASWELL CPU: Intel Core i7 4790 - 4+4 Cores @ 3.6Ghz (Turbo 4Ghz) + 8MB CACHE  INTEL HASWELL MOTHERBOARD: ASUS Z97-K - USB2.0, USB3.0, SATA6 + XFIRE  RAM.: 16GB DDR3 1333Mhz - CRUCIAL  SOLID STATE HDD (SSD): 120GB KINGSTON V300 SATA3 - 6Gb/s  MASTER HARD DRIVE: 2TB SEAGATE SATA3 - 6Gb/s, 7200 RPM & 64MB Cache  MASTER OPTICAL DRIVE.: LG 10X BLU-RAY Re-Writer, Reader & DVDRW All In One  GRAPHICS CARD (PCI-E): nVIDIA GeForce GTX970 4GB PCI-E 3.0 Ready  SOFTWARE: WINDOWS 7 Premium - 64 Bit Inc DVD/Licence  PERFORMANCE TUNING: ADVANCED - OS Tuning For Best Performance For Windows7  COOLING: Pack Of 2 x Case Fans Silent & Powerful, Highly Recommended To Reduce Overall System Temperture & Prolong Life Of PC (If This Spec Already Has Max Case Fans We Will Upgrade The Standard Ones To Silent Versions) Came to around £1600 including monitors. Patch confirmation?

Won't work, all the people who post here complaining are only a drop in the ocean in the grand scheme of things, even if it worked and everyone made a bit of noise, it wouldn't be enough to change anything, and besides, they would do what they do best, ignore you all until you went away and they released something new and shiny to 'dazzle' everyone with  I agree that we're a drop in the ocean, but our views are also representative of the vast majority.  For example, we complain about pad traction control. Codemasters choses to ignore it. Joe Public with pad in hand comes along and buys the game looking forward to the menacing handling of those 1.6 turbos. He loads the game up, floors it out of every corner and sticks it straight on EBay. One sale (indirectly) lost. There are only a few of us, but there are thousands upon thousands of him. Codies don't get it! Maybe that's what Joe Public wants. After all need for speed sells a fair amount. I think you overestimate how much effort most people are willing to put into a game. Sure they want some challenge but they don't want it that difficult. I think the reason sales may be low is because 14 does not offer anything significantly different from 13, 12 or 11 (in fact imo it offers much less than 13). If the pad behaviour is changed my prediction would be that there will be as many people who will come on here complaining about the change in pad behaviour as there are people complaining about the wheel vs. pad behaviour at the moment. It's not really a winnable situation for CM IMO. The only way to do it would be to have two different pad modes, the old one, and a new one. And of course the new one has to be verified for every single track to verify that it is a "very similar" performance to the wheel, which would no doubt be a huge amount of work. I would maintain that it is impossible to get the wheel and pad exactly balanced, and that the only definitive solution is to make it so that people who race together are either all on pad or all on wheel. You may be right about sales, who knows. People getting traction control when they don't want it and have selected not to have it is a complete joke though and very easily fixed.

No need to organise a boycott, their sales figures show that the boycott has been ongoing for years.

F1 2015 Game Ideas and Suggestions

I'd like them to fix F1 2014 before all of this nice stuff - can't really set up an F1 2015 League when the members of the F1 2014 League preceding it have all bu****red off.
  9. I have a perfectly good Logitech wheel that should work absolutely fine on both consoles without any expensive adapters and I'd rather have the games companies tailoring their software to my wheel & not the one MaxRace is pretending to be. However, that's given us a bit of hope Tim :)

    Wheel Support for PS4 & XBox1

Mad Catz have done a deal with Microsoft on XBox One. It's a tiny victory, but a start.

    New structure at CM ?

Excellent rant Captain Jack and I think you've pretty much hit the nail on the head. Like so many things, there seems to be a lifespan with a computer game and to me it looks like Codemasters are getting close to end of cycle now. The "life" of a game usually starts with some creative, talented individuals coming up with a nice set of ideas but little money. With nothing to lose and a "nothing ventured, nothing gained" attitude, they go away and make something original and exciting, if also usually somewhat flawed. Uncreative and untalented people (the one's with money who nearly always think they are talented) like what they see and stick some pennies into it. When all goes well, it is a symbiotic relationship and the creative people make better and better stuff whilst the penny-pushers get their return. At some point in the cycle, something always goes wrong and the penny-pushers get nervous. They start scrutinising how their creative people are doing things and without any creative talent of their own they then become involved in the creative process itself. This is the start down the slippery slope. Eventually, they are controlling every penny and every thought and the whole thing falls to ruin.  Sadly, you see the same story in all walks of life. Stupid individuals in Governments dictating to expert professionals in schools how they should be doing their jobs, music companies telling their artists they should all be wailing from the top of the mountain instead of singing the sweet melodies that we once used to enjoy. I have seen the same cycle of demise in pioneering companies that I have worked for as well - once the bosses start telling the clever people how to do their jobs, all is lost. It is not necessarily the end though and is recoverable if the untalented ones suddenly wake up and realise what's happening and start the reversal of that process. The perfect example (in an opinion people may not share with me) is the GTA series. GTA IV, for me had the classic signs of the slippery slope. All the humour and silliness that went before it ditched for a nitty-gritty game that ultimately had you driving around performing monotonous and repetitive tasks. It was a company going into "Safe Mode". However, whilst the pundits applauded it's mediocrity, someone inside Take-Two/Rockstar saw the writing on the wall and gave us GTA V many years later, so there is hope, but Codies have got to start letting things happen again.  '''...and they can start by fixing the stupid "pad traction thing", so that we might trust them to fix anything that's wrong with F1 2015 as well"!

    New structure at CM ?

So not once in the QA testing did anyone actually race with no assists and pad vs. wheel and go "Hey Boys, this is seriously screwed"?   It's a huge backward step, but if you're not going to bother fixing it, our premium no assists league will have to go back to F1 2013 just to have a chance of survival. We're losing both driver types as well, pad guys who get bored and wheel guys not seeing any point.   Surely, you can't expect us to fork out again for F1 2015 if we have no confidence that you'll fix anything that's wrong with that?

An old glitch that needs fixing

Go to end of this video and same glitch, 3 incarnations ago except in 2011 it looks like there is a post so at least he hit something, albeit something that they didn't have on the real track. :- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ZVTczTnze8&list=UUFLa8vIodiylkNTGNP_uWOA
